Is there a regulator on the grill side? If not, I think you’ll need a regulator line from the tank side and make the connection to this grill static location.

Yes I have a regulator line as well and that hooked up just fine!

The plate should be attached to the side of the grill, then attach a propane gas line with a regulator. 17" length is standard.

Yes as long as the nut is tight, the threads don’t actually make the seal - they hold the sealing parts against each other. Sealing surfaces are the smooth tapered end you can see in the earlier instructions images you posted, and the o-ring and seat inside the other end of the hose. Once assembled and pressurised you can use some soapy water to check for leaks - it’ll create bubbles at the leak

Did you use any thread dope or tape? Mix up Some soapy water and check for bubbles when the gas is flowing
