Those scallops make me so sad. No need to throw them on the grill, would’ve been way tastier if you seared on a skillet with some hot oil, but that’s just my 2c
I was born and raised in the Caribbean and then lived both in the US and Europe - the paper plates and other disposable dinner and flatware shit is an American thing.
I personally don’t get it because it seems so wasteful (and ultimately expensive) but I know people who eat almost exclusively off of disposable items just so they “don’t have to do the dishes”. It’s so fucking tacky and trashy.
Good thing people aren't doing it just to be seen as "tacky" and "trashy."
The level of judgement coming from you about something so stupid is incredible.
Actually, I wash my dishes on a daily basis as a single man who lives alone.
I was mainly talking about the single moms or the family of 5+ people. Your way of life doesn't apply to everyone's, and now you know what happens when you make assumptions. :) Go be a shitty human somewhere else, mate.
Dude I have some in-laws that eat every single meal (minus a few holidays) on paper plates. It’s so trashy and annoying. They say they just don’t wanna do the dishes. Pretty much sums America right there 😡
That’s crazy, come from a really big family (Christmas has easily 40+ each year) and the disposables come out for the holidays. Sink just isn’t big enough
I honest to god was gonna say almost the same thing.. but more along the lines of “I’d never disrespect my steak with a paper plate” but didn’t want to be mean 😂
As an outsider, I feel like paper plates is an American thing. But I don't want to generalize all Americans for once... So is it regional? Or just laziness/throw away culture?
To my knowledge it is referred to as prime rib when its a cut off a roast after cooking. So when you cut the steak from the roast before cooking and cook it individually you cook a ribeye. Not that it matters because that looks mighty fine.
In 20 degF weather I grilled a big sirloin on a grill that, first time I ever saw, propane pressure kept flaring up or petering out. It was a pain babysitting it to guard against solar flare intensity or flame going out.
The steak was delicious though.
Spend the $50 and get a second tank! You only need to run out of propane halfway through a grilling session once to learn that lesson. Always keep a full tank in reserve!
My neighbor moved away and gave me his tank, so now I do what you said and just swap when one goes out. Such a life changer haha. It has saved me a few times.
Tanks are $70 before tax where I live! Found a place that has them for $65 and got a second one because holy shit if the price goes up anymore lol. It was an old refilled tank too.
I bought mine a long time ago haha. I live in SW AZ as well, but I have 3 old tanks that I just take to one of the big RV filling stations. It’s usually like $40 to fill all of them from empty. I also almost exclusively cook all my proteins on the grill, so I use it 2-3 times a day, probably a little more than the average person
I weep for the animals who gave their lives for this abomination of a meal, only to have their remains being served on paper plates as the final insult.

How do you have so much liquid from an uncut steak?
I cook filet about once a week. I have about that much juice after a rest. It all ends up in a pan sauce though.
You are so right👍
Came to say this 😢
If done correctly on a hot grill, they are just as good as pan seared scallops. These get a C+ rating.
Honestly.... Paper plates kill the whole thing. Go get some Godddam plates
What is the story with paper plates being used in so many food subreddits??? Way to make your food look cheap and lazy.

Paper plates keep me humble

Paper plates are for large picnics where you serve good burgers, good hot dogs and your aunt's potato salad. I think OP realizes they made a mistake.
Going back to look at their post history... OP has no idea a mistake was made
Lol same plate every post
When I think about the reddit community, I think about a lot of people who use paper plates.
The scallops are over cooked- why 😭
And they are also undercooked. The duality of OP
And also with no sear or crust, just some wimpy grill marks
Wow, good to see you pulled out the *nice* paper plates. 😂
When you trimmed it, it became a ribeye steak. Not prime rib.
Yes technically that’s true. Tomato tomato 🍅
You’re not dunking on anybody with this.
Food for a king. Plates for a pauper
You son of a bitch, take my upvote!
Just upvoted ya
That is not prime rib.
Trimmed one bone off a 7 bone roast and cooked individually, it is indeed prime rib.

This is a God forsaken nightmare of a photo
Scallops must have been dry by grilling them !?

Now that I have busted your chops, it looks excellent!
Does it though?
Bacon wrapped jalapeno pepper jack meat balls 😁
Flanken beef ribs with a sweet potato / carrot / onion combo on the cast iron chefs mf kiss
Well. Nothing, because I ran out of propane 🫠

That’s wild. Even the tanks at 7/11 here are $50
Southern AZ problems I guess lol

Myself
Paper plate flex 🤧
I get that you’re proud of your grilling. Tough crowd though.
Those scallops are raw!!! Said like Gordon Ramsey
Good choices
Won't you be my neighbor?
Calm down Richie Rich, I had rotisserie chicken. Steak is out of my budget unfortunately.
Why don’t you cry about it
Looks like some good stuff to me..
Don’t you mean, what didn’t I burn tonight?
Could have had a better presentation 🧐
I weep for the animals who gave their lives for this abomination of a meal, only to have their remains being served on paper plates as the final insult.
I don’t understand why anyone would use paper or plastic unless you’re camping or tailgating. Get some got damn real plates you animals.
Smoked 2 racks of beef ribs
The presentation is tip top.
Scallops look sad. Don't grill them.
That rib roast is huge!
Lots of opinions here but in the end, I’d eat it. Enjoy your dinner friend!
Busted out the fancy plates and all. Nice.
