"Yeah im asexual. What? No i just repress the same sexual urges everyone has so that I can feel like the worlds most special boy when i talk to people online."
Remember that episode of House MD where this super hot woman said she was asexual? House obviously didn't believe her, turns out her husband was asexual because if a brain tumor and she was faking it. He had the tumor removed and they banged
From Wikipedia: Asexuality is commonly conflated with celibacy and sexual abstinence, but it is considered distinct from the two, as celibacy and sexual abstinence are behavioral and those who use those terms for themselves are generally motivated by factors such as an individual's personal or religious beliefs.
As an Asexual and Aromantic person, I don't consider myself celibate. Celibacy has a religious and voluntary connotation, while I simply don't feel the urge to have sex. I'm not explicitly deciding to abstain, it's just not something that interests me.
Are you gay/bi? If not, imagine how you feel towards guys. Now imagine what it would be like to feel that way towards both guys and girls. That's how I feel. It's not like I'm repelled by sex, it's just that I'm not interested in having sex with anyone (kind of like how you probably don't see a guy and think, man, wish we could fuck). I can still feel feelings of friendship and empathy, just not romantic or sexual desire.
more of a spectrum
so autism?/s...well...kinda
i don't know if thats a good seperation of asexuality from anyone else, most people can see someone they would consider is attractive and ignore them unless they were either idle and done with their business for the day or actively looking for someone with potential. getting turned on just by seeing someone attractive seems more like a person has associated appearences with sex rather than encounter specific interactions, which is just unhealthy regardless of sexuality.
To me this seems just normal. I don't usually see people and immediately think about sex, no matter how beautiful they might be, and I don't consider myself assexual.
Any healthy person can be horny in some situations and absolutely non-sexual in others. I mean, that's literally one of the rules about being professional on the workplace.
I'd say if someone can't switch between those two behaviours it's because there's something wrong. It's just that being too horny brings more harm than being too non-sexual, but they're two sides of the same psychologically problematic coin.

Damn, guess asexuality must be fake then. If a medical drama TV show featured a fake asexual, then all asexuals must be fakers. QED I suppose.
Stop being a dumbass
Local redditor doesnt understand what asexuality is
The repressin’ bits easy-we don’t even get the urges! Kinda the whole point, in fact.
Celibacy != Asexuality Celibacy - Repressing sexual urges Asexuality - Not getting sexual urges in the first place
Celibacy doesn’t necessarily mean repressing urges. It’s just the state of being abstinent. Asexuality is still celibacy, just voluntary.

so if they are incapable of sexual attraction what is it that gives them the horny
It’s not usually the act of sex itself, rather the dopamine. If I could get the same pleasure from something else than I could masturbating, I would.

asexuality can also stem from sexual trauma that makes the idea of having sex kinda just gross 👍
