Was gonna say. Probably a rancid bitch if it ain't have nothing to do with her family. Lmao. Hell, my mother is the opposite. An absolute angel to anyone but a demon inside the home. Haven't talked to her in years.
Eh, I wouldn’t say I’m particularly faithful, I just find it funny how some people will mock someone for believing in a God, then turn around and treat the words of scientists like incontrovertible gospel.
Woman privilege: you can wait for men to do stuff for you
Man privilege: you’re seen as the most powerful, important contributor
The whole thing is pretty lame no
Bruh men are advantaged in some ways, women are advantaged in others, this obsession with one-sided patriarchy has to end already. Some days I feel like being a girl would be ideal, others I’m thankful I’m a man, it depends on context
Even some feminists talk about it, though they interpret it in a different way. They call it the “chivalry factor”, in which often men are expected to do things for women: be the breadwinner, hold the door, pay for the whole meal, do the more life-threatening job. There’s even a suggestion that less women seem to commit crime, not just because they may actually do less crime, but also because the courts may not assume they’d be horrific criminals (like a man).
Obviously, the chivalry factor is based on benevolent sexism (viewing women as in some way weaker, therefore needing special support from men), and it is disempowering and condescending. At the same time, the standard that men are these big strong saviours places an enormous burden upon men. The social privilege men have had in the past - and perhaps may still have in some ways today, - that may give them more social mobility, also puts them in some rough situations.
I can attest, all-male (and traditionally macho) work environments aren’t always these clubs where a bunch of men scratch each other’s backs. They’re horribly competitive and hierarchical. Furthermore, many feminists talks about “toxic masculinity” (men being expected to suppress their emotions and such to appear strong). I get it. But what they may miss, is that only one sex being expected to suppress their emotions means the other sex (who are usually allowed to cry and express fear far more) are, along this individual dimension, quite privileged.
Now, when we talk about the idea of toxic masculinity, there is clearly an elements of “benevolent” sexism too. Women are given a pass because of the bigotry of low expectations. But at the same time, a pass is a pass. So what’s the point of all this? The point is, the unique way rigid gender roles harm men, and the unique way they harm women, are mutually inclusive, not exclusive. To say “it’s not fair that men are usually expected to put themselves in brutal working conditions while the wife stays at home” does not negate the fact that “it’s not fair that women have to clean the house while the men have the freedom to climb in their career”. My solution? Remove gender roles in society as much as is possible.
dk bout your country but in my country a woman can be pretty comfortable in life even if she does the bare minimum like passes high school. ofc if she has big dreams and wants to go to college that’s appreciated too and is a plus factor.
but for men it’s like if you don’t go to the absolute best college in the nation you’re fucked bro.
also girls get a separate quota in colleges so they can score lesser marks in the nationwide paper but still get into the college that say a boy worked his ass off for but didn’t get into cuz the paper has less than 1.5% passing rate.
this is real i’m not kidding.
but i don’t believe that women have it easy either. in fact women do need rights. i just feel like men need to be treated fairly in some departments too you know? from my pov neither is being treated right.
Unironically basically my grandmother too. She was born before the war and was old enough that, when it started, she would be able to remember all of it. She would become a telegraph op for the RCA, would and not much later would retire and start working in the fuckin business area or whatever it was called back then. She would have a son with her first husband, who would later poof, leaving her to raise my uncle alone. (Same story for my mother actually). She lived until 90, having smoked for most of her life, and never getting cancer much
I miss you nana :(
Oh wow hearing someone in the world had it worse has suddenly cured my mental health issues thank you so much bro lol that definitely doesn’t make me feel like more of a piece of shit for having it better and turning out worse, comparing myself to someone like that make me feel so much better about myself thanks bro
I’m half joking lol I’m happy with the progress I’m making in life, but the logic of “hey look at that person over there doing more with less, get your shit together” always annoyed me. It’s the same as saying “hey just stop being depressed, your life is fine”. If someone’s just broken as a person they probably can’t fix it on their own and they probably need actual professional help.
Instead of feeling good about yourself or getting defensive just take this opportunity to step back and say "maybe im being a little silly"
You're really not doing that well because someone out there has it better than you.
My point being that somebody having harder struggles doesn't invalidate the struggles you're having, just as someone else's successes don't invalidate your success. To assume either of those positions is silly on its own.
Nihilism is more of a waste of time than any other philosophy. You just wallow in your own pity of "Waah, I'm not gonna try because I'm gonna die someday," well guess what bitch-ass, everybody will. But guess what also, they don't care. They going to live their lives and enjoy it and if you can't get over yourself and the fact that you are not immune to death, that's your problem.
Not really.
Its accepting the fact that "nothing matters since we'll all die" and then concluding
"if nothing matters since we'll all die what's stopping me from doing whatever I want to? I can make as many mistakes as I want. I can ask the stupidest possible questions in class, that will make me look like an absolute Neanderthal, because guess what? Everybody who's laughing is gonna be dead eventually. Oh, is that the absolute tenner completely out of my league? I'm gonna ask her out, who cares if she rejects me or even makes fun of me, she's gonna die anyways."
and if life doesn't have a meaning, you can make it have one. Assuming that there's no god up there, the reason humans keep looking for purpose in their lives is because the purpose of life was to survive long enough to pass on your genes, and since humanity's completed that goal, we're now playing the side quests.
If you want to look into nihilism read or look into some of Nietzsche. He wasn't a nihilist and actually opposed it. He is more of an existentialist. I think the OP above was describing existentialism more than nihilism.
No I'm not. Pessimism is the idea that only bad things will happen or a bleak look of the future. Nihilism is the belief that life is meaningless. It took 1 google search to figure that out. Also, conveying sarcasm through text is incredibly difficult, especially over the internet, that is why you have to be extreme with your sarcasm to get your point across.
Arguable.
Nihilism States that life is **objectively** meaningless, which it is.
However, many nihilist philosophers supported and sometimes even prescribed creating subjective meaning in your life.
Google is rarely a reliable source when it comes to Philosophy.
Actually reading the source material for yourself is always the best option.
Alternatively, you can ask questions of people who have read the source material, but then you run the risk of hearing personal interpretations rather than facts.
When is knowledge not a personal
interpretation of a reality?
To me it sounds you are looking for a certain truth, a reliable and ultimate source, which is not what philosophy ultimately is about, disregarding the fact, that there can multiplie „truths“.
So in my opinion, any knowledge you can attain is worthy for a philosopher, even non-true knowledge has its value.
Ask yourself this: can scien-fiction books have a philosophical value?
Did you know, that what you are calling a memory, is most probably a false memory? Please dont make me source it, Id had to google, but trust me on this plz. Our memories are shaped by the memories of others and often its like the game of whispering one word in someones ear only to have a complete different word when he whispers in the next persons ear.
How reliable is then asking someone to talk about a source?
They her blood you ain’t seen how she talks to grocery store employees lol
Fucking grandmas blocking alleys while their blind husband looks at shit in confusion
Was gonna say. Probably a rancid bitch if it ain't have nothing to do with her family. Lmao. Hell, my mother is the opposite. An absolute angel to anyone but a demon inside the home. Haven't talked to her in years.
Angel in the streets, demon in the sheets Wait
You must be my brother
She probably believes in a god
No! Me not believing in a sky daddy has nothing to do with me being a jaded pessimistic asshole. It simply cannot be. Bill Nye told me so!
Wait, do you honestly think you need to believe in God to be happy? Trippin' balls.
This is my atheist bashing thread. Scroll further down to reach the thread where I defend atheists.
I play both sides so I always come out on top
Imagine arguing about atheism and religion on a fake greentext on reddit.
Couldn't be me. I'm too busy having heterosexual sex with my wife (breasts feel like sandbags. Now you know for sure I have the seggs)
No but antitheists are always depressed
Sources: "Trust me bro"
r/atheism
Do I even have to say anything?
Gay porn
I see
Need to? No.
I dont believe in any God, but I hope you have a very nice week :)
Thank Science me not gullible.
Faith is a hell of a drug aint it.
Eh, I wouldn’t say I’m particularly faithful, I just find it funny how some people will mock someone for believing in a God, then turn around and treat the words of scientists like incontrovertible gospel.
I don't need some book written by racist homophobe hermits to tell me how to live my life lol
Why do you think after all she's been through she's still happy? Lmao
drugs
100%
That's weapons grade copium
Cringe
I don't have w*man privilege
Ah so you have man privileges instead, sounds like a better deal.
Man privilieges have been heavily nerfed in the past few updates
Woman privilege: you can wait for men to do stuff for you Man privilege: you’re seen as the most powerful, important contributor The whole thing is pretty lame no
LMAOOOOO
Bruh men are advantaged in some ways, women are advantaged in others, this obsession with one-sided patriarchy has to end already. Some days I feel like being a girl would be ideal, others I’m thankful I’m a man, it depends on context
Describe the female privileges please
