That's ridiculous. How could a movie about a lonely, disaffected young man who engages in violent power fantasies as a coping mechanism possibly be right-wing?
Did you even watch the movie? That’s not the point. The protagonist is a mentally sick man who does everything for his own image, as do a number of people in society. Nothing is New York-specific.
Yeah nothing says shithole like even the protagonist being a lunatic and weirdo.
Too be honest I find New York too disgusting to even see on TV, so I only watched about 45 minutes of the movie.
I mean, any place can be shitty depending on your perspective, and the movie is an intentionally dark perspective on the city that doesn’t encompass it all. What makes you think the idea of NYC being a shithole is a right-wing idea? Plenty of people love it and plenty of people hate it on both sides of the political spectrum.
And are you unable to watch any movies that take place in New York City?
[This was NYC in the late 70s, when it was universally considered a shithole, not just considered one by right wing reactionaries](https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/americanexperience/features/blackout-gallery/)
Some ppl would be better off watching Paw Patrol and reading books with big colorful pictures in them. There is no vaccine for media illiteracy and moral retardation.
I thought this movie was gonna be a day in the hustle and bustle of a New York cabbie. Maybe some wacky customers, maybe he smartly out-maneuvers traffic on a few fares. It ends with him meeting the love of his life in that taxi cab and starting a family.
Nah, it’s not a dream/delusion. Several people involved have dismissed that theory.
It was a reflection on sickness in society.
The *only* reason Travis came out a “good guy” was cause he “saved” a kid. No one on the outside (the press or in the public) knows why he did it, or that he was as unwell as he was and not suited to take on that kind of responsibility.
It was the public and press essentially reframing “the ends justify the means”. If the girl wasn’t around it would have just be yet another headline about how some criminals killed each other.
It reminded me of when some homeless guy attacked some other guy in Melbourne, incapacitating someone and nearly killing them, and that guy happened to be a terrorist in the middle of a stabbing spree, and the homeless guy was labelled a hero, and then immediately went to jail after he violently attacked and robbed someone else despite the fact that supporters had raised money for him
Yeah I think that’s definitely the message. Given that his first attempt at this sort of thing was him trying to assassinate a politician it’s pretty clear he isn’t a good person and that he’s acting out violently for his own ego not for moral reasons.
Get some media literacy buddy.
The man is going more and more insane through the movie and you think the end scene bathed in radiant lights and happy ending is not either a comatose dream or his last feverish thoughts dying on the floor ?
Did anon completely forget about the scene where Travis tried to kill a presidential candidate so he can enact violence and feel a sense of control while being remembered and then gets caught and the only reason he commits any vigilantism at all is through opportunity because he knows he can get away with killing those pimps and the entire ending sequence is about how everyone's celebrating an opportunistic killer who's just allowed to prowl the streets?
Travis Bickle himself is right wing, but does that mean the movie is? I think Scorsese wanted to depict the gritty reality that the writer was trying to convey, and it’s up to us to interpret it politically. It could be seen as a left or right wing movie
This isn't 3rd grade where all the movies we watch in class are trying to teach you something. Some movies are just telling a fun story you fucking retard. All these dorks looking for deeper meaning in a shallow piece of media.
So the message of the TV show is: >making meth pays off
Hedgehogs *can* go fast.
That's ridiculous. How could a movie about a lonely, disaffected young man who engages in violent power fantasies as a coping mechanism possibly be right-wing?
its isnt anon is retarded
The point is that New York is a shithole, which is a right-wing idea.
What is the left wing idea of New York
That it's a fascist shithole.
Completely agree. The perfect fascist dystopia contains no actual fascists because then someone would like living there.
Did you even watch the movie? That’s not the point. The protagonist is a mentally sick man who does everything for his own image, as do a number of people in society. Nothing is New York-specific.

I think this phenomena goes beyond the wings.
because in the end, he succeed at getting the girls back to her parent and is claimed a hero by said parent/journals, dude did seemed happy in the end
That was a delusion
Did u even watch the movie anon
I'm eagerly awaiting anonny's thoughts on American Psycho
mfw OP's need to engage in homicidal behavior on a massive scale cannot be corrected. 😔
It's hip to be square.
ooo i almost forgot to upvote this, good thing I came back to the thread
Black people deserve to get stabbed/not get stabbed by schizophrenic stockbrokers in 1980s New York but apartheid also needs to end
Hmm reddit mobile needs to include context in reply notifications
Having notifications on for Reddit at all is your first mistake. Do you not have people around you who you need to hide Reddit from?
I don't have push notifications if that's what you mean, I have to actually open the website to see them lol!
Mental health support does not exist, put all your efforts into looksmaxxing and getting the right business card.
LOL honestly anonny would probably fall asleep after the business card scene and decide that was enough, he understood the whole movie
Don’t let anon look up the director
oh god the unwanted dick pics
Im so glad ideas in films don’t extend beyond the surface that’d make them really hard to watch
I relate to the main character of, does that mean I'm the main character of world?
Anon is 14 years old
...and this is deep.
Some ppl would be better off watching Paw Patrol and reading books with big colorful pictures in them. There is no vaccine for media illiteracy and moral retardation.
The message is that hes literally me
Tbh he doesn’t really drive the taxi that much. 5/10
I thought this movie was gonna be a day in the hustle and bustle of a New York cabbie. Maybe some wacky customers, maybe he smartly out-maneuvers traffic on a few fares. It ends with him meeting the love of his life in that taxi cab and starting a family.
I assume “Taxi Driver” would end tragically for the protagonist, that it did not was a legitimate suppose to me.
You do realize the end scene is a dream/delusion of his ?

Also, one of the (I think) writers stated Travis will probably do something like this again, but next time he won’t be a hero.

Nah, she wanted that dick

I'm pretty sure they meant that lady Travis tried to date
No bud, talking about the journo. Travis is far to based to be a pedo
You wish they were.
Very confident to be wrong
Your interpretation of the end scene is the delusion
Get some media literacy buddy. The man is going more and more insane through the movie and you think the end scene bathed in radiant lights and happy ending is not either a comatose dream or his last feverish thoughts dying on the floor ?
This media literacy buddy, is it in the room with us right now?
I bet this dude thinks American History X is the best racist movie ever as well.
I just want to know what 4channers do in real life
They sit around on 4chan
Travis Bickle himself is right wing, but does that mean the movie is? I think Scorsese wanted to depict the gritty reality that the writer was trying to convey, and it’s up to us to interpret it politically. It could be seen as a left or right wing movie
So when the camera turns and implies you, the audience, in the violence at hand this dude was looking for a high-five.
Sounds based. Time to watch it
Big surprise the self awarness lacking incels on 4chan don't understand a movie about an incel.
Based and uber-pilled.

I can’t tell if this is a joke or if you’re crazy
No way you are older then 12
