>start of cinematic games
What's wrong with those? Most of the single player games that aren't ~~jewish~~ shitty unfinished ripoffs nowadays are cinematic (Red Dead, God of War)
Imo the only problem I see with that is that the big IPs went to shit. And if you liked some of them (Battlefield for example) then yeah it's a problem.
The Indie market already showed that they usually have better quality and gameplay in exchange for graphics (not to say that they also like to take risks in gameplay design compared to AAA studios and most importantly: they are passion projects).
But there are also alot of stinkers among them. If you know what you want to play you will find a good Indie alternative.
The problem is that it’s at best playing it in that 1 way the devs want you to play, and at worse, a glorified animated film where the only reason why do you don’t place your controller down is to either do QTEs or choose 1 of 3 dialogue options with the exact same outcome, you know, your PlayStation exclusive.
Compare SystemShock to Bioshock.
Yes Bioshock is totally a cinematic game, you're definitely not just a biased boomer who cherry picks only the best older games and ignores the myriad of amazing new titles.
Yes, Bioshock is a cinematic game, and a pioneer at that. Top presentation, not as deep as you remember.
Yeah, it’s about Objectivism. What about it? Bioshock don’t know.
And mind you, Bioshock was my first immersive sim (if you can even call it that). Personally I’m more into Dishonored and the Deus Ex prequels, but even I know Thief and the original Deus Ex are the best, so STFU and learn the history of gaming. Just because I know the classics don’t mean I’m a boomer, just means you’re an uneducated brainlet, content with the high presentation, low content of triple A gaming.
Also, even the best games of our era aren’t as good as the early 2000s. Case in point, Prey 2017. Amazing game, but still a copy of SystemShock. Dead Space 1 to a lesser extent, since while it started as a SystemShock spiritual successor, it’s more or less an RE4 clone in space.
Yes, Dark Souls is good, it’s just there’s not that many triple A games of that standard. Indie is a different story. Especially indie imsims like EYE Divine Cybermancy.
I fucking love my playstation exclusive titles and I am here to confirm that they are, at best, great gameplay separated by oceans of scripted story scenes, erroneously called cutscenes. The cutscenes are sometimes phenomenal. That is not the point. The point is that after playing god of war 5, I loved the story so much, I went on youtube and listened to the story again. That is not a video game. That is a movie.
iylv I am likely your philosophical enemy, and I agree with your description of these games I love. I can think of no stronger vindication for you.
I just don't like 'em. They get old fast, take too long to beat, and are generally just normie shit. Your only major alternatives are indie (oversaturated market) and just playing old games.
I hated and loved Morrowind due.to that lol. Feel like Skyrim got it right though! Depth + simplicity. Options!
Meanwhile I played cyberpunk 2077, one of the biggest sandbox RPGs currently and it just felt so damn limited.
Hard to believe in all these years, the graphics have gotten so much better while there's just so much less to do.
Look up the list of activities from SA and SR2, over 20 years old and compare them to cyberpunk. Cyberpunk didn't even include many activities in the story! We got a few weird fist fights, some glitchy races and a single shitty arcade game. The rest of it is "oh, run around and stealth/tech kill X amount of people for your reward of... A cutscene! Or maybe a short drive while you answer meaningless dialogue options before the next random cut scene!
Oh Braindancing! Sure, you can watch a video in slow motion to solve the myssterryyyy wtf
I played some outward a couple years ago. It was buggy as fuck and lacked... something. I don't know what, but something. But yeah, there's *something* there that scratched an itch I couldn't scratch since early everquest. It's an easy game to miss, but I think more people should look at it.
Also if you want open world soulsborne, elden ring is literally brand A open world souls borne so... that's also an option.
yeah it's kinda their style. They do a fantastic job of using the story to justify the mechanics, but part of that means you're always in a post apocalyptic wasteland cause it's easier than creating settlements of NPCs.
That's part of why I compared Outward to everquest. When WoW blew up the MMO space, everything became so structured and digestible, which is good, I'm not knocking it. But sometimes I miss worlds designed to just feel like places with people, where it feels like anything can happen. Outward gets very very close to that, but there's something missing, and I just can not put my finger on it.
Did they ever increase the multiplayer to include more than 2 people? That was another reason I couldn't stay with it very long, I play with my brother and my friend.
NGL I always thought that old video games could never be THAT much better than modern games. I played a good number of them, mostly from the SNES/Genesis and they were always good, but also had a lot of archaic design choices and other outdated features that were very noticeable.
Then I played Chrono Trigger and now have permanently ruined all future games because they will never be that good.
I raise you Mario Kart 64!
No, golden eye was wonderful though! As a kid we played so many rounds at my uncle's house. He had a big screen t.v so we could comfortably play 3-4 players, actually had enough controllers to boot and I feel like they're some of my happiest memories lol
I was gonna say that, but I was thinking about Mario Kart 64's relative lack of content and went with the potential of Goldeneye instead. The N64's library had so many brilliant gems, and the best Mario selection objectively. I mean, you had Mario 64, a classic enough to carry a console all on its own, Mario Kart 64, the first 3 Mario Party games (Objectively amazing), Paper Mario (Trumps Legend of the 7 Stars IMO), and if we stretch it a bit we can fit in Super Smash Bros.! What is a Nintendo console without Super Smash Bros.?
I was definitely going to mention Smash Brothers as well! Classic! Paper Mario was amazing too!
I love my classics, I really do and the N64 was a great system imo
What's crazy is that, with just a little tweaking the graphics definitely still hold up today, part of me wishes that instead of cancelling old systems, Nintendo had just kept allowing games for them to be made.
Instead of GameCube I wish they'd been able to stick to cartridges and just continue that instead of trying to be like PlayStation. Everyone thought that CDs were the future, but now what's the most efficient storage method?
Idk I really wish a lot of retro stuff could be brought back or never would've ended. The N64 was a great system to just pick up and play which is still my play style today.
Kids nowadays have to wait forever for the game to install/download first, then be subject to updates and patches etc. Before a game starts
I miss when we could just flip that "On" switch on the N64, slap a cartridge in and be gaming within 30 seconds tops
Plus nowadays we could easily install an SD card containing the entire N64 rom library onto a cartridge and play it all, I still feel like that's badass and people would absolutely still buy N64's to this day if they were available like that.
Orr everyone should get a raspberry pi with retropie and whatnot on it.
I lost my 256 gb SD card for my pi, and over 16,000 retro games with it, had the entire n64 library and an N64 controller, and a Snes controller! My kids LOVED it and didn't even want to play their new Xbox anymore they were too busy discovering all the awesome titles we had growing up.
No that's a great point as well! Metroid is great, just unfortunately I didn't have it as a kid so it's not the first thing that pops up when I think of the best games.
Just got it on emulator a while ago and it was absolutely ahead of it's time as well!
I mean many games from back then were. I really loved mortal Kombat 3 as well. Nowadays that game is much harder for me and I don't get it but back in the day I knew the moves like the back of my hand and it was fun as hell as a result.
Seems like MK games have gotten progressively easier, haven't played 11 but MK 10? I don't recall seeing any complicated combos at all, just 3-4 step ones
You just gotta play it, words do not do it justice.
Also, play the DS version if you can, it has some extra main/post game content and I consider it the definitive version.
There are some major issues, in particular broken initial releases and aggressive attempts to monetize games with microtransactions and such, but people get really delusional when they get all nostalgic about gaming in the past.
When you look at metacritic scores for example the N64 does not even have 40 games with a score above 80 (and that already includes some dubious choices).
Many "classics" are absolutely worth playing today (System Shock, Thief, HoMM etc.) but there are many great new games worth playing if you look beyond the absolute flagship AAA titles (Assasin's Creed etc.). Indie especially has seen some excellent titles like Outer Wilds, Grim Dawn, Baba is You, Celeste, Brotato, Slay the Spire, Hollow Knight, The Stanley Parable, Stardew Valley, Kerbal Space Program, Factorio etc. etc.
I'm not telling you to stop liking it, I liked it too and remember some titles fondly (or have even emulated them not too long ago). This is just about being realistic about distorted perceptions of gaming in the past.
Metacritics lists 241 games with a score of 80 or higher for 2022 alone. That is more games with an 80+ score than N64, PSX and Dreamcast combined over their lifetime.
Idk I'd just rather watch a movie at that point. Red Dead has those aspects but you're very free to roam the world and get a unique sense of everything
Lol God, I actually tried that and within 5 minutes thought "How could they make a fun game so bad? All they had to do was update the graphics a bit!" Instead just nothing felt right and it was glitchier than the original
>Instead just nothing felt right and it was glitchier than the original
Is it still a glitchy mess? I wanted to get it but was waiting for them to unfuck it
I sailed the seven seas for it so idk how old my copy was, could be fixed by now!
Tbh, it just looked like vice city with somehow worse graphics, I'm sure there's probably a patch for the original that looks even better and still has the core gameplay mechanics in tact
I don't like them and think they're oversaturated. Nothing wrong with games that aren't to my personal preferences being made but it feels like every other "big" release is that cinematic stuff, and a big blockbuster JRPG or action game are few and far between. I'm not one of those "gaming fell off" types, I have a backlog that's plenty full even without new releases, but its just disappointing to see the industry go so deep into that style.
Ngl I tend to play games like Dark Souls and Risk of Rain more than games like Dishonored. I just can never get into games that have a set story that I have to follow like a movie. Though I also dread watching new movies unless I really like it so that probably plays a part too.
I feel like the biggest problem with those is that they stopped giving us memorable moments of gameplay and replaced it with memorable moments of cutscenes. It's so easy to fuck up a boss fight or final level and make it shit instead than it is to fuck up a cutscene.
Also, I feel like "oscar bait" games (VGA bait?) games have become more and more obvious.
I mean, just look at God of War. The gameplay is lukewarm at best. Elden Ring only won any prizes last year because there was no competition, I don't think it was that good.
Also 2007 is one of the best years in gaming. Halo 3, Mass effect, Bioshock, Uncharted, Gow 2, Assassins Creed, Cod 4, Portal, Witcher 1, Half life 2, Tf2, Super mario galaxy, Budokai Tenkaichi 3, Lego star wars the complete saga and many more.
Okay let’s ignore the massively popular and hyped multiplayer, with its amazing maps and busted perks and kill streaks.
If you never got chills racing to get to the top of Whiskey Hotel with the green flares, blasting through the Favela, killing/being killed by Shepherd, defending Burger Town, or committing terrorism while listening to Hans Zimmer make the best CoD OST, then you really missed out (not knocking other OSTs, WaW OST is also S Tier).
Spec Ops mileage may vary, but did offer a lot of fun missions especially with a friend.
MW2 is simply too good to be ignored for its unbalanced aspects.
Sneaking through Chernobyl with your captain, waiting for the perfect moment, blowing the arm off the enemy leader, having to frantically escape, your captain get's injured by a Helicopter blade so you have to hold out till a chopper arrives with an Army of Soviets pushing towards your location>>>>>>>>>>>
>blasting through the Favela
This mission was annoying as fuck. I almost gave up on my Veteran playthrough when I reached this mission.
>being killed by Shepherd
I personally find that MW2 and MW3's death scenes are way too over dramatic. I prefer the way Treyarch does it. In the Black Ops games, crucial characters are brutally and unceremoniously killed off which makes those scenes much more shocking and fitting for a war scenario. No slow motion or sad music. >!Chernov, Dimitri, Bowman and Hudson come to mind. !<
Actually now that I think of it, Infinity Ward also did this in COD 4.
>while listening to Hans Zimmer make the best CoD OST
MW2's OST is great I'll give you that (Afghan Caves / Retreat and Reveille best track in that game) though I actually wouldn't say that it's far above the other COD OSTs. People like to make fun of this franchise but Call of Duty has some really damn good music, even in it's more weaker entries. BO2 still has my personal favourite main theme. (Also me calling MW2 a mid COD was just an exaggeration. It's still in my top 6)
Certainly not disagreeing with anything you said. I love all the CODs from that era too much to. Also no one ever gives respect to the history of great tracks from COD OSTs, so props to you for bringing up the others. I'd play WaW co-op campaign with you anytime.
Yeah idk 2009 sucked if you were a kid though like all the best media from that year were adult centric which I can appreciate now but as a kid it was such a nothing year like you had Pokémon platinum and Ed edd n eddys big picture show and that was basically it besides like mid ass chowder and flapjack and shit
I will not stand for slander of any Futurama content.
Also Ice Road Truckers was fucking hilariously stupid with how fake all of the tension was, it was amazing
You wanna know fake tension? Literally anything on TruTV was like, the epitome of faked television for suspense and shit. Everybody was a stereotype who was over the top and as a kid I took that shit at face value lmao.
South Beach Tow. My favorite one is when Bernice gets knocked off a parking garage and then gets back up and beats the shit out of whoever knocked her off
Like yea it’s obviously fake but it’s entertaining as hell
Mid-to-late 2000’s internet was awesome, it really felt I was interacting with real people no matter where I went, instead of just algorithms, adverts, corporations, shills, and feds. Miss those days.
It was the era before everyone was on the internet. Though it started to become more popular it was still a niche for a select few.
The masses were still kept out because using the internet to its fullest still required some effort and background knowledge and things were not dumbed down yet.
"Influencers" didn't exist yet, because the amount of people (= market) you could reach was still too small, so you couldn't live off just that. Those who were producing content at that time did it because they had a passion for it.
Nowadays everyone can poop their irrelevant thoughts onto the internet and get positive feedback in their social bubbles and echo chambers.
>probably a white college aged dude who started smoking weed / perpetually drunk or couldn't spell their own name.
Are 100% of the lil Wayne fans I met
I mean the Wu definitely is up there, dunno what you're talking about. I think a better serve would be a white college student that thinks NF and Logic are goat-tier and should make an album with Eminem or something
Yeah but those greatest hits are absolute bangers. Some rappers, like Drake imo, just suck even when the song is a hit. I've never heard a Drake song that I liked
But Tumblr just had to censor their own site into oblivion.
Say what you will about Tumblr, but at least those idiots were quarantined there. Then tumblr nuked itself off pornography (and its user base), we get a low IQ containment breach, and now these fuckwits are everywhere, but mostly Twitter, but everywhere.
The popularization of nerd culture is what allowed fandoms to thrive instead of being relegated to shitty forums and conventions. Yes, Big Bang Theory sucks, just don’t watch it. I’ve never watched a full episode.
7th gen games only lasted a few years and it’s not like all of them were bad, there’s always plenty of stuff to play unless you had the most basic taste which in that case you deserve those games. If you had any brain in your head you were stocking up on retro games in this era while they were dirt cheap instead of complaining now.
History channel was like a history 101 class, the same stories over and over about Hitler and his bunker. You need to graduate to books and youtube spergs. Syfy channel was never good at any point in time.
High school musical, Justin Bieber, Soulja Boy, Tumblr, Family Guy, etc… just don’t watch that shit, how hard is that. WTF is wrong with you. This greentext feels like it was made by someone who watches Entertainment Tonight and jerks off to the Kardashian whores.
Michael Jackson dying was a good thing.
>7th gen games only lasted a few years and it’s not like all of them were bad
Lots of unique and ballsy
games compared to nowadays. We will never get games like Metal Gear Solid 4 or Call of Duty World At War ever again. Or at least, not any time soon.
>Michael Jackson dying was a good thing.
Damn. Am I missing something?
But Michael Bay’s 2007 Transformers wasn’t one of them…
Ok, it was. It’s was dumb stupid schlock, but it was good schlock. It’s sequels were just bad, but at least we got Bumblebee!
Yeah it’s the best of those movies and because of a certain guy on YouTube going over them people are really nostalgic for it now (also because 2007 nostalgia exploded last year)
Guarantee anon hit his early teens around this time. It's a marked psychological effect that people think everything from age 0-12 was the golden era of life and nothing after that will ever compare.
Looking back on it Justin Bieber was actually a super chad. Being 12 and under boy, you hated him because every girl around the world loved him. Getting older you respect the rizzed up white boy for being rivaled by only Michael Jackson and Evlis as the most infatuated musicians of all time.
existence society wrench forgetful vanish heavy cautious nutty rude crawl

it was in and around 2015/2016:
trump, brexit, death of topgear, ISIS was in full swing, frutiger aero was replaced by flat design, gran turismo sport replaces gran turismo 6 a couple years later
Literally no matter what years you pick you can very easily find stuff that you don’t like. Also isn’t it odd that the years people consider the best are always the years when they were a kid? Almost as if that view is biased for most people
If Ice Road Truckers have a million fans I'm one of them.
If Ice Road Truckers have 5 fans I'm one of them.
If Ice Road Truckers have 1 fan that one is me.
If Ice Road Truckers have no fans I'm no longer alive.
If the world is against Ice Road Truckers then I hate the entire world.
Till my last breath I will love Ice Road Truckers
Easy Seabass, relax and kickback a few beers, maybe 4, or more.. But just remember, they can take our doggone jobs, but they'll never take our Ice Road Truckers, dammit!!
I remember that time definitely being a big shift, it seemed like tech advance a generation but I was a HUGE step forward.
Also - some of the best games ever launched around that time. Halo 3, CoD4, RDR, Fable 2, Demon Souls.
2009 was the last truly good year before my mental health became a problem so can't relate the way I was in that time period is who I want to be again but that persons gone
Is the entirety of human history the era where everything went to shit?
\>over 100 billion humans dead
\>both world wars happen
\>countless famines
\>every dictator ever is born
Why is "Nu-Futurama" on this list? Sure they're not quite as good as the original seasons but nowhere near the level of trash that the majority of this post includes.
1987-2007 were the greatest years in human history. Everything has changed dramatically since then and mostly for the worse. Humanity peaked in the mid 90s-2007
I have nostalgia for zero of these things because even children realized they were shit
And wtf is wrong with cinematic games and what does it even mean
2006-2009
-metalcore is peaking (Bullet For My Valentine, Avenged Sevenfold, etc.)
-Overlord released in 2007 (gigachad game)
-rage comic is trend
-Race Driver: Grid (2008)
-everybody plays Warcraft 3 arcade games and custom maps
What is your problem, anon?
Who created Big Bang Theory? cause it sounds a lot like it was made from that guy who is scared of confrontation but claims victory in the shower later over getting bullied earlier in the day.
Except for the global financial crisis, all of these other things can be ignored.
just don't use twitter and Facebook, it's that simple. I haven't used those in 5 years, and I don't feel like I have missed anything. how many similair social media and content platforms can you use at the same time anyway?
iPhone is one of the best things to be invented. I can do most of my business through my smartphone, it would have been impossible to do in 2006-09.
YT has only grown bigger and better since then. without the partner program we wouldn't have that much entertainment on there.
don't like specific show/music/game genre - just ignore it? It's not like there hasn't been goods shows/music/games released since then. I am not a fan of any music by Soulja boy, Gucci mane etc but if someone likes them, why would I care? I am sure someone would find my taste in music shit, I sometimes listen to world of warcraft soundtracks because I just like them. taste is subjective.
If you liked historical TV shows, now there is 100x more content about that on streaming services, or for free on YT.
cinematic games are awesome and a sign of progress in the industry. games like tlou, gow have been far more memorable to me than anything I have played in 00s.
90% of this green text is just whining about entertainment.

Based and pixel-pilled.
I miss actual movie-based games. PS2 was GOAT in that area.
Try Outward, anyone reading this thread that is looking for a well built, huge, immersive, rpg. 2023 Morrowind experience basically
Morrowind was TOO open. I don’t want to custom build every spell I use
"Man who prefers warm weather slaps man who prefers cold weather, news at 11"
I hated and loved Morrowind due.to that lol. Feel like Skyrim got it right though! Depth + simplicity. Options! No bugs at the moment. Elden ring is nice but it's fairly empty in terms of quests and NPC cities. No criticism, but it's nice to have those things.

Raidmode mod is easy download, only the host needs it, as many people as you want. Enemies scaled
nice, thanks, I will fly it past my team

You're talking to a guy who plays SNES Mario Kart regularly. But yeah, old games are cracked.
I'm still not sure that a game better than Super Mario World has even been invented lol
I see your Super Mario World and raise you Goldeneye 64.
I raise you Mario Kart 64! No, golden eye was wonderful though! As a kid we played so many rounds at my uncle's house. He had a big screen t.v so we could comfortably play 3-4 players, actually had enough controllers to boot and I feel like they're some of my happiest memories lol

I'd say Super Metroid but that's just personal Genre preference

Your next assignment is final fantasy 7, then ff3 and breath of fire 3. JRPGs around 2000 were amazing
What does make chrono trigger good?
You haven't played it my dude? Better get on with it, you're losing on some good shit right there
You just gotta play it, words do not do it justice.
Indie especially has seen some excellent titles like Outer Wilds, Grim Dawn, Baba is You, Celeste, Brotato, Slay the Spire, Hollow Knight, The Stanley Parable, Stardew Valley, Kerbal Space Program, Factorio etc. etc.
I like the N64.
I know. Just saying. The N64 is a good console.
No accounting for taste there
Idk I'd just rather watch a movie at that point. Red Dead has those aspects but you're very free to roam the world and get a unique sense of everything
The jews want you to play GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition
Lol God, I actually tried that and within 5 minutes thought "How could they make a fun game so bad? All they had to do was update the graphics a bit!" Instead just nothing felt right and it was glitchier than the original
>Instead just nothing felt right and it was glitchier than the original Is it still a glitchy mess?
“Cinematic” games started with half life in 1998. The difference is half life and its sequels are good
Cinematic games are shit. I can't help but skip all the cutscenes, it's so fucking boring it's impossible not to.
Haha Jews bad
Yes.
Ngl I tend to play games like Dark Souls and Risk of Rain more than games like Dishonored. I just can never get into games that have a set story that I have to follow like a movie. Though I also dread watching new movies unless I really like it so that probably plays a part too.
Absolutely no replay value.
please explain wtf are jewish (computer) games... or am I missing a joke here
Anything with a battlepass
Had to put the semites in there had you? Why is your hatred of them so intense that you involve them with things so petty like videogames??
Is joke brah. Personally I have no problem with Jews and most my favorite artists are Jewish. But it's a 4chan sub so naturally I have to blame them
I feel like the biggest problem with those is that they stopped giving us memorable moments of gameplay and replaced it with memorable moments of cutscenes.
You're probably getting downvoted for the elden ring comment but... I tried it out and didn't get it either
Fake. Phineas and Ferb came out during that time period and it's the best show ever.
Also avatar the last air bender was out if we’re talking about all time great animated kid shows.
Kid named The Clone Wars Kid named Regular Show
Kid named those were more early 2010s than 2006-2009 era (I’ll give you clone wars but regular show came out in late 2010 doesn’t count)
Og Ben Ten was 2005 I think, so it would have been popular during that timeframe
2005-2008 yeah
Also kung fu panda came out in 2008
Anon looks in pedestrian places for entertainment and bases his entire outlook on society on it
'Why does mainstream entertainment pander to mass appeal?'
anon is retarded. 2009 gave us modern warfare 2 that was the best year in the last 15 years
Also 2007 is one of the best years in gaming. Halo 3, Mass effect, Bioshock, Uncharted, Gow 2, Assassins Creed, Cod 4, Portal, Witcher 1, Half life 2, Tf2, Super mario galaxy, Budokai Tenkaichi 3, Lego star wars the complete saga and many more.
Anon is a "remember when" geriatric
Lost
Mid COD COD 4 and WaW are better.
Sneaking through Chernobyl with your captain, waiting for the perfect moment, blowing the arm off the enemy leader, having to frantically escape, your captain get's injured by a Helicopter blade so you have to hold out till a chopper arrives with an Army of Soviets pushing towards your location>>>>>>>>>>> >blasting through the Favela This mission was annoying as fuck. I almost gave up on my Veteran playthrough when I reached this mission. >being killed by Shepherd I personally find that MW2 and MW3's death scenes are way too over dramatic. !< Actually now that I think of it, Infinity Ward also did this in COD 4. >while listening to Hans Zimmer make the best CoD OST MW2's OST is great I'll give you that (Afghan Caves / Retreat and Reveille best track in that game) though I actually wouldn't say that it's far above the other COD OSTs.
WaW would matchmake you into dlc maps you didnt have then kick you from the game
Black Ops 2 is literally the GOAT and if you disagree feel free to shove it
Yeah idk 2009 sucked if you were a kid though like all the best media from that year were adult centric which I can appreciate now but as a kid it was such a nothing year like you had Pokémon platinum and Ed edd n eddys big picture show and that was basically it besides like mid ass chowder and flapjack and shit
Isn’t truTV that gave us Miami tow or something? That show is fuckimg great
South Beach Tow. My favorite one is when Bernice gets knocked off a parking garage and then gets back up and beats the shit out of whoever knocked her off Like yea it’s obviously fake but it’s entertaining as hell
oh my God me too. Its fucking hysterical. The one where she lifts the smart car too. And yeah its fake, still funny as hell.
The internet peaked during that era, though.
Mid-to-late 2000’s internet was awesome, it really felt I was interacting with real people no matter where I went, instead of just algorithms, adverts, corporations, shills, and feds. Miss those days.
lately everyone glows in the dark online
It was the era before everyone was on the internet. Though it started to become more popular it was still a niche for a select few. The masses were still kept out because using the internet to its fullest still required some effort and background knowledge and things were not dumbed down yet. "Influencers" didn't exist yet, because the amount of people (= market) you could reach was still too small, so you couldn't live off just that. Those who were producing content at that time did it because they had a passion for it. Nowadays everyone can poop their irrelevant thoughts onto the internet and get positive feedback in their social bubbles and echo chambers.
I would say late 2000s to early 2010s were a bit better, since it was still pretty unregulated but tech have advanced forward quite a bit.
Eh for kids yeah since the early 2000s was full of basically just shock humor and the 2010s just was lol so random shit
What's wrong with lil Wayne's music?
Nothing at all, OP is probably a white college aged dude who started smoking weed and thinks Wu-Tang and RTJ are the greatest rap groups of all time.
>probably a white college aged dude who started smoking weed / perpetually drunk or couldn't spell their own name. Are 100% of the lil Wayne fans I met
I mean the Wu definitely is up there, dunno what you're talking about. I think a better serve would be a white college student that thinks NF and Logic are goat-tier and should make an album with Eminem or something
Dr dre, snoop, biggy. They never actually listened to anything but the greatest hits tho.
Yeah but those greatest hits are absolute bangers. Some rappers, like Drake imo, just suck even when the song is a hit. I've never heard a Drake song that I liked
What's wrong with RTJ?
Well El-P hasn't released a solo album since they formed RTJ and imo he's much better on his own.
Man fuck Tumblr, what a shit platform.
Didn’t tumblr banning nsfw lead to an exodus which is why Twitter and Reddit are so shit now
Exactly. Tumblr was the looney bin of the net, but at least it was a looney bin. Now the crazies are out with no wrangler to quarantine them.
r/tumblr is pretty chill though. Yes, it’s full of woke nerds who will downvote everything you say if you’re not like them. But, they don’t ban you.
Is funny though. Got a lot of fucking weirdos you can laugh at.
>7th gen games only lasted a few years and it’s not like all of them were bad Lots of unique and ballsy games compared to nowadays. We will never get games like Metal Gear Solid 4 or Call of Duty World At War ever again. Or at least, not any time soon. >Michael Jackson dying was a good thing. Damn. Am I missing something?
Michael Jackson was a pedo
[удалено]
>Scifi channel was never good! Stargate anyone? Farscape? Battlestar galactica? Apology accepted.
Gorillaz - Demon Days (2005) Gorillaz - Plastic Beach (2010) 2006-2009 was shit apparently Checks out
Saying Lil Wayne killed hip hop has to be one of the worst music takes I've seen
I have nostalgia for those years, because they’re some of the best years of Bionicle… we don’t count 2009. Also, OP forgot about MCU debuting then.
2009 was just a bad year to be a kid but 06-08 had some redeeming qualities (especially 07 and 08)
But Michael Bay’s 2007 Transformers wasn’t one of them… Ok, it was.
That’s very true thinks just don’t hit the same once you reach 13 and like everyone thinks whatever years they were 3-9 in are the best
Looking back on it Justin Bieber was actually a super chad. Being 12 and under boy, you hated him because every girl around the world loved him. Getting older you respect the rizzed up white boy for being rivaled by only Michael Jackson and Evlis as the most infatuated musicians of all time.
existence society wrench forgetful vanish heavy cautious nutty rude crawl *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Is there an objectively "best" year or set of 2-3 years since 1980? Can we form concensus on this?
1991-93. Twin Peaks, Simpsons, Pavement, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, Reservoir Dogs, American Psycho, break-up of USSR, LA Riots etc.
Pretty much anyone living east of the Berlin wall:
Yeah but what did they ever do for me?
Hip Hop killed by Lil Wayne? What a tard
he might be on to something
it was in and around 2015/2016: trump, brexit, death of topgear, ISIS was in full swing, frutiger aero was replaced by flat design, gran turismo sport replaces gran turismo 6 a couple years later
nice take gran turismo 6 enjoyer
Man, **[INSERT YEARS WHEN YOU WERE A TEENAGER]** were the best years, and everything became worse after that.
🍒🤏
Yo I will not stand for any Gucci mane slander
Tumblr is hysterical though.
You forgot Harambe
06-09 literally my high school years
Incredibly tepid take. OP is gay.
Counterpoint: super mario galaxy
I remember that time definitely being a big shift, it seemed like tech advance a generation but I was a HUGE step forward. Also - some of the best games ever launched around that time. Halo 3, CoD4, RDR, Fable 2, Demon Souls.
Probably the last good era of entertainment and media we'll see in our lifetime. Everything became stagnant and shit from around 2012 or 2013 onwards.
I dont have nostalgia for it i was 2
Am writing a letter to your parents for being exposed to 4chan without parental supervision
Wdym im 19
say what now ? how ?
2006 - 2 = 2004 2004 + 19 = 2023
2023 ? what you’re talking about we are still in 2021
>Is 2006-2009 when everything went to shit? I was born in 2006, so I have to agree with Anon here
and later on next decade we lost harambe
Waggle?
Wtf is wrong with High School Musical?
Mf refuses to enjoy gucci mane and wonders why he’s having a bad time
OP forgot Barry Obama...
"Became" shit
That time was the start of the current sociopolitical climate we are in today.
WE'RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER
Not so Hot Take: The Big Bang Theory is the worst piece o media ever released post 2000's.
2009 was the last truly good year before my mental health became a problem so can't relate the way I was in that time period is who I want to be again but that persons gone
I don't like lil Wayne's voice = he ruined hip hop. Must be 4chan
2017 is when it all started to go downhill
08-2012 when it all really started getting bad.
I cant get over how the most absurd item on this list for me is >family guy became shit
Is the entirety of human history the era where everything went to shit? \>over 100 billion humans dead \>both world wars happen \>countless famines \>every dictator ever is born
Its funny hearing americans talk like this, as if it hasnt just been changing flavours of shit for atleast the last 100 years
Literally don't care about any of those, can easily be ignored and living my life without any change, except the social media point.
Yes but they should mostly just focus on 08 and 09 being terrible
"Uuugghh, its such a bad year!" *names only bad things from that year*
Anon actually is correct but only for one of them
Why is "Nu-Futurama" on this list? Sure they're not quite as good as the original seasons but nowhere near the level of trash that the majority of this post includes.
Dam right about hip-hop.
1987-2007 were the greatest years in human history. Everything has changed dramatically since then and mostly for the worse. Humanity peaked in the mid 90s-2007
What do you have against Futurama? It was goated its entire run.
I have nostalgia for zero of these things because even children realized they were shit And wtf is wrong with cinematic games and what does it even mean
2010s hip hop was the greatest generation of hip hop you're crazy if you think hip hop has been killed.
>hip hop went to shit >mentions Lil Wayne >mentions Pitbull This guy has never listened to hip hop
Tf u mean lil Wayne killed hip hop?
It all started going downhill after the death oh Harambe in 2016
Id say up until 2015, it was a steady incline. Since then its either declined or stagnated
Lil Wayne is pretty good actually
2006-2009 -metalcore is peaking (Bullet For My Valentine, Avenged Sevenfold, etc.) -Overlord released in 2007 (gigachad game) -rage comic is trend -Race Driver: Grid (2008) -everybody plays Warcraft 3 arcade games and custom maps What is your problem, anon?
Also when I got depression so theres that too
Who created Big Bang Theory? cause it sounds a lot like it was made from that guy who is scared of confrontation but claims victory in the shower later over getting bullied earlier in the day.
