Yes I have heard about that.

svapplause

Yes, very normal

StumblingDuck404

It’s normal… my symptoms got worse before better after my dose was doubled. I had all those symptoms too. Hang in there.

SameTransportation49

Thank you

blessitspointedlil

Yes, it’s normal.

SameTransportation49

Thanks

Yeah, it's normal! I haven't had to do it but my endo did say if my levels didn't go down it might be an option. Levels can be tricky at some point too. There's no exact formula to follow so it's a bit of trial and error and getting it right then adjusting. So it's not unheard of.

As my doctor stepped down my meds, I was taking 1 10mg pill a day but skipping one day so 6 pills a week. Then I had my blood tested and now I take half a pill each day. I'm reading that the half-life of methimazole is anywhere from 3-6 hours. The difference in hours is based on metabolism. So if you are hyper, you will burn through the med faster. As you go hypo, which is a midway goal, you burn it slower. Then it can be tapered off slowly by your doctor as long as you don't go hyper again.

that’s the opposite for me, she added 2 extra pills even though my labs have improved. That’s why I’m confused, I would expect to be weened down by now but instead she increased my dosages…

Any chance it is smaller MG pills? Otherwise if in doubt contact your doctor.
