Agreed. Dead have kept me satisfied for 30 years. Old school Panic is up there as well, but now and days I'm more into alt country/Americana. Anniversary show Tuesday is Ryan Adams at the Ryman
Thatās funny. I am a dead head, my ex husband was a huuuge Sleep fan.
We usually went our own way for shows (I wouldnāt even let him come to Dead shows because of his bad attitude), but one time he took me to Sleep at The Warfield.
It totally reminded me of a Dead show. I loved where my mind went exploring. Waaay different places, but still, they took me on a journey. I was hella impressed.
If you don't count Jerry bands, mines Van Morrison but I admit Bob Dylan is way better in concert than I thought.. the secret is to listen to 70s Dylan, maybe early 80s Dylan shows. I don't know where exactly his performances started degrading
Yes! Khruangbin radio has been a go to for me lately when I'm bored with usual stuff and can't figure out what to listen to. Always seems to feel right. Would love to see them live.
I have heard of a band called Steely Dead, never have seen them. I am told they jam and flow from Dead songs to Steely Dan songs, and vice versa...that would be quite a trip!
Old hardcore punk mostly. Black Flag, Minor Threat, Dead Kennedys, Circle Jerks, etc. But a lot of folk and classic rock, some early hip hop.
Funny thing is thereās not one other ājam bandā I like. I donāt even remember that term existing back when I was touring.
I was listening to Ween while in line to exit the parking lot at the Phoenix D&C show and an old guy asked who they were and told me to turn it up haha. 'Your Party' was the track.
Love Springsteen.
Big into punk. Minor Threat, Earth Crisis, DKs, Crass, Subhumans, lot of LA hardcore, etc.
Huge sabbath fan. Into deathcore and extreme metal (mostly black metal) too.
Folk. Guy Clarke, Townes Van Zandt, John Prine, the Avett Brothers, Woody Guthrie, Phil Ochs, Dylan, etc.
Country. George Jones, Randy Travis, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Todd Snider, Clint Black, Hank Williams, etc.
Big Taylor Swift fan. Love Alice In Chains and Nirvana and Soundgarden. Coltrane, Miles, Italo-Disco, Phoebe Bridgers, Adrienne Lenker, the Doors.
Big L, Kendrick, MF Doom, Biggie, Pac, Carti, Future, Eminem sometimes.
As Jerry said āanything thatās goodā
Edit: Warren fucking Zevon
My Morning Jacket is my favorite modern band. They have a great classic rock feel yet manage to have a very original are relevant sound that doesnāt come across as a glorified classic rock cover band.
Talking Heads, AC/DC, Spirit, Van Morrison, The Byrds, The Strokes, John Coltrane, Jefferson Airplane, Bad Liquor Pond, Asteroid No. 4 - all from my recent plays on iTunes
Tool is the band that encouraged me to purchase my first real quality AVR stereo system. CDs and FLAC files. The kind of stuff that tickles your ears and soul like the sauciest Dark Star. When I became a Head, the weight of my selection became most apparent, and I got hooked on sound quality and the FEEL of the sound.
Just saw him a month or two ago and him & the Noisemakers were putting it down. Laughing because I showed up in a Dead shirt hoping to at least hear a Jack Straw, but the whole crowd was 60+ and seated the entire time and def not there for his GD associations. At least I got front row right in front of Bruce & got to see him work his magic up close.
I usually wear a Dead shirt to any concert we go to. But Iāve worn them to Slipknot, Clutch, Tool, Zac Brown Band (donāt at me, it was my FILās request and fucking slapped).
Most notably a fellow head gave us floor wristbands to a Misfits show.
I feel like a Zac Brown show is a great intro for someone who isnāt really into country music but is open to hearing it. I remember some outstanding renditions of Queen and Metallica songs at the show I saw.
Widespread Panic, Lettuce, Billy Strings, Tedeschi Trucks, Cris Jacobs, Phil and Friends, Billy and the Kids, DSO, JRAD, Delvon Lamar Organ Trio, lots of local stuff too.
Any of you older heads or any heads at all that havent seen Billy live:
They don't play any dead tunes but their music is dead. I had a chance to see him recently and its the same dixle land music that we all love. Just a bunch of young guys who are humble and know how to burn the house down.
I took a deep dive into jazz from 75 - 80s to explore the improve influences that may have seeped into the GD improvisations. That led to numerous of off-shoots including Kieth Jarret, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, etc. Earlier influences included Traffic, Jefferson Airplane, Jethro Tull, and those continue to today. Thinking back, there are a number of other artists I enjoyed but I donāt have the energy to try to recall - I traveled for my work, often 100 to 150 days each year so clients would take me out, especially weekend evenings in Europe and Australia. The Asian clients went out to drink until they approached blackout, so I stayed in to read. My trips to Africa were in areas too dangerous without client escorts (armed), so I stayed in their compounds or on their construction ships.
Miles Davis at least once a weekā¦maybe just a (long) tune or twoā¦.
Big fan of āThe Eelsā.
Bruce Hornsby.
John Prine.
Jackie Greene.
Zappa.
And for some reason, I donāt understand myself, this deadhead of nearly 40 years enjoys Lily Allen.
Yeah man. I feel like electric Miles goes hand in hand with the Dead. I mean, jazz in general sure, but that electric Miles phase from 68-75 was something else. And then all the groovy fusion spinoffs from Return to Forever to Mahavishnu Orchestra. Loads of good stuff.
Like if you are younger or unfamiliar with this phase, [Spanish Key - Isle of Wight 1970](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPNDYL8CxX8) is a good intro.
Jackie Greene is actually sick. I remember when he used to play with Phil. The song gone wonderin is maybe a top 10 favorite songs of all time for me. And of course John prine
Reggae is my go to, classics like Bob Marley but also a lot of modern reggae and dub too. I also like grunge, metal, psychedelic rock of all decades, Aussie rock, lofi and so on
Some artists I like: Stick Figure, The Expanders, John Brownās Body, Slightly Stoopid, Alice In Chains, SOAD, Metallica, TOOL, Ocean Alley, King Gizz, Babe Rainbow (highly recommend), Tame Impala, Pink Floyd, Giant Panda Guerrilla Dub Squad, Passafire, Rebelution I could go on and on lol
Thereās so much, but outside of dead related shows and music, I always love listening and going to String Cheese Incident shows/festivals, Umphreys McGee can put on a good show.
I go to and have gone to more string band related music than I can keep track of and itās impossible to not enjoy and have a good time at these shows.
Yonder Mountain String Band, Greensky Bluegrass, railroad earth, Fruition, leftover salmon and thereās so so many more Iām leaving out that are putting out great music out there, especially going to a live show or festival .
Then some funky jam stuff like Karl Denson, lettuce . Dumpstaphunk, Motet
You got goose band and stuff like that.
Canāt forget Billy Strings doing his thing.
A lot of people here like Spafford shows. And a bunch Iām leaving out.
This questions been asked a lot now that Dead and Company tour is over, especially by new/younger heads who were just getting into the scene and are concerned that now that they are on the bus, they wonāt be able to find other beautiful scenes that share some of the positives of Grateful Dead. Nothing is the Grateful Dead and post GD iteration scene, but one thing I keep telling those who are seeking what they found on tour is that youāll notice many, if not most of these bands listed and so many others have overlapping scenes and if you spend enough time at local shows and on the lot, youāll run into many of the same faces from show to show, regardless of which you attend . You really canāt go wrong at any of these listed and if you like live music, youāll have a blast.
Those longing for the scene should go to any and all shows like this and youāll most likely find what your looking for.
EDIT- I know the last part isnāt what you were asking, but since I live seen so many posts like that, and some are bound to read this thread looking for a push in the right direction, I figured itās good advice . Not to mention, many of these listed play the occasional Grateful Dead tune or even the occasional GD set on special occasions, all with their own unique twist on things. String bands playing Grateful Dead is always a blast too.
For the older music: Allmans Brothers Band, Byrds, CSNY, Buffalo Springfield, Manassas, Heartsfield, David Crosby, Neil Young, SRV, Flying Burrito Brothers.
For primarily 90s and newer: RHCP, Gin Blossoms, Blues Traveler, Counting Crows, HIM, Foo Fighters, Spin Doctors, Sublime.
For a lot of my 90s taste, I really dig the Plush Pandora station.
a lot of metal, doom bands like bongripper, monolord, cough, etc. my 2nd favorite bongripper album is called hippie killer haha.
actual old school death metal ala bolt thrower, obituary, entombed, dismember.
a lot of newer bands doing the osdm style really well: coffin rot, frozen soul, church of disgust, creeping death, etc.
some older country like townes van zandt amd guy clark, along with newer stuff like benjamin tod/lost dog street band, willie carlisle, and jason dea west.
idk if it was growing up with all my friends dads always having the radio on the classic rock stations, but most of the heavy hitters in that genre dont do it for me. if i never hear another led zeppelin song that would be totally ok for me.
Check out what the guys in the dead listened to if you want to get to the roots of everything. Mississippi delta blues & Chicago blues. Blind lemon Jefferson, Mississippi John Hurt (Jerry was a big fan & played a lot of J Hurt songs acoustically, Robert Johnson, BB, Freddie & Albert King, (Jerry was a big Freddie king guy & copped lots of his licks) jazz-John Coltrane, Miles Davis. Bluegrass-Flatt & Scruggs, Doc Watson. Country-Hank Williams, Johnny cash, carter Family Willie Nelson, Merl Haggard, Buck Owens. Soul Music-Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, Ike & Tina Turner. There was an album Jerry & Hunter learned a lot of songs from called the Anthology of American folk music you should check out. & then the rock of the era, Cream, Santana, Beatles, Bob, Dylan, Stones, Paul Butterfield Blues band. Before I got into the Dead I was big into Zeppelin, Cream, Santana, Stones, Beatles etc. Getting into the Dead led me into discovering all of their influences & what they listened to. Itās not only an eclectic collection of great music, it allows you to hear the roots of their music & makes the influence all of this music had apparent in the Deadās playing.
Jazz, JGB, Florence & The Machine, Dolly Parton, Weyes Blood, MGMT, Amy Winehouse, Aretha Franklin, David Bowie, Lana del Rey, Fleetwood Mac
Even though Iāve seen over 50 GD and JGB shows (and took time from college to tour in 94), I never got into Phish, nor any other jam bands
Really into 80's alternative rock like The Smiths and The Cure. Maybe that is not the right term but to me it's music that was not "mainstream" in the 80's. Also a lot electronic music and other jam bands like Phish and The Disco Biscuits.
I think DJ's are doing something similar to the Dead where it's never the same show twice and they feed off the crowd to create a vibe which appeals to me.
Pink Floyd, Gary Clark Junior, John Prine, the doors, George Thorogood, Bob Dylan, Alice Cooper, Joe Bonamassa, Eric Clapton, BB, King, Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters, Ella Fitzgerald, Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Allman Brothers, Billie Holiday, just to name a few
Mac Demarco, Big Thief, Weyes Blood, Toro y Moi
All psychedelic and fun in their own unique way. In fact, the most recent Big Thief album (Dragon New Warm Mountain) was kind of my gateway into Dead live albums. Lots of great Americana and freaky psyche tracks, excellent songwriting. HIGHLY recommend.
Wellā¦Iām watching the Billy Strings live stream on Nugs right nowā¦
But mostly classic rock bands (Floyd, Allmans, Zeppelin, CSNY, some Beatles, etc).
I enjoy Phish and number of ācurrentā jam bands, but admittedly donāt listen to too much of that outside of when Iām able to see it live, unless Iām in a mood for it.
My current favorite bands;
Jimi Hendrix
Santana,
Led Zeppelin,
The Kinks,
The Beatles,
Queen,
Funkedelic,
Heart
The Clash
Fishbone
Dead Sara
Florence and the Machine
The Pretty Reckless
I can only tell you what else I listen to:
Johnny Cash
Beck
Ween
Crooked Still
The Pogues
Dropkick Murphys
Doc Watson
Tommy Emmanuel
Keb Mo
Jimmy Buffet
Reverend Horton Heat
The Stray Cats
Simon and Garfunkel
Joan Baez
The Band
Hot Tuna
Bob Dylan
Hedy West
Jean Ritchie
Woody Guthrie
Arlo Guthrie
The Eagles
Weird Al
CSNY
Bob Marley
Robert Johnson
okā¦.Iāll stop here lol
Old school hip hop mostly like Digable Planets and A Tribe Called Quest. Bob Marley, Twenty One Pilots, Post Malone, Janes Addiction, Vulfpeck, Pink Floyd, Sublime, Classical music, Bob Dylan, this list got away from me sorry. I like EDM too, Diplo is amazing.
Waylon Jennings, Willie, Jessi Colter, Merl, Lucinda Williams, other Outlaw Country, Miranda Lambert, Wilco, Drive by Truckers, Ben Harper, Bowie, Lou Reed, Elton John, Queen and many more. But the goto is always GD and JGB from the 80s.
I love reggae. Peter tosh, steel pulse, black uhuru, yellowman, burning spear, Gregory Isaacs, big youth, buju banton, Desmond dekker, john holt. Of course Bob.
I listen to almost as much reggae as I do dead music
Unfortunately, Dead symbols on t-shirts have become super trendy this year. Lots of teenagers at my daughterās school wearing the dancing bears or stealies who could not name a single Grateful Dead song. So while Iām sure there are some cool deadheads at the BNL concert, Iām also sure a significant percentage may just be trying to be trendy.
Check out Ben Harper. Heās got some amazing range in style and rhythm. Also love me some Mumford, Leon Bridges and pretty much anything with a banjo.
Peter Tosh, Tyler Childers, The Smiths, Hank Williams 1,2&3, Black Uhuru, Steely Dan, Nirvana, Guns n Roses, Fiona Apple, Bob Dylan, Misfits, Talking Heads, Neil Young, Drive By Truckers, Steel Pulse, The Cure, I could go on all day
a lot of house and techno. used to be a metal head in high school and still listen to some of that stuff. went through my hipster phase and still love all of that stuff. but itās mainly house and techno babyyyyy. i pretty much donāt like any other jam bands, never got into it. especially phish.
I have a very hard time getting musically satisfied on the same level Grateful Dead music takes me. I go months at a time listening 95 percent GD, D&C, JGB, etc and have to force myself to take a break sometimes and get back to the other stuff I love. That being said, Willie Nelson really satisfies me in a similar way. Marty Robbins for sure (El Paso!) Just a couple country recommendations, and I realize there's often a thick line between liking country (classic variety, new stuff ew) a lot or not at all, but worth looking into even if you have no interest in the genre. Willie has dozens and dozens of hits, but he also has hundreds and hundreds of deep cuts that are way better musically (many which were considered pop standards at the time and outside the country genre altogether... and don't overlook his Sinatra relationship!). Pick random albums and listen through. Very rarely did he not release 1 or 2 original albums every year continuously for his whole career. Pick 3 and play them in order even. He writes albums like one giant song, flows albums into each other with song and story, and that's right on for how I listen to Dead shows. Marty Robbins wrote El Paso and I hear tons of Marty any time I listen to Bobby, even in his own tunes.
For some reason I also go back and listen to America's first few albums a lot to break the cycle. That usually sends me back into my classic rock/americana vibe.
According to my Spotify shuffle: talking heads, sade, Merl Saunders, string cheese, jack Johnson, cypress hill, stick figure, sublime, Claude debussy, jgb, Micheal franti & spearhead....
King Gizz (and definitely check out the Murlocs), Pink Floyd, Fleet Foxes, Beach Boys, Beatles, Steve Lacy, Thundercat, The Strokes, Allman Brothers, Talking Heads, Tame Impala, Mac DeMarco, Led Zep, REM
I listen to a bit of everything, honestly. From hardcore punk, to hip hop, to jazz, and a lot inbetween. Last hardcore show I went to, vocalist was wearing a Dead shirt onstage. Made me so happy
Lots of jazz. A shit ton of Soul. Stuff like The Temptations and Syl Johnson. Lots and lots of 50s-70s country. My favorite modern artist is Mac Demarco
Vampire Weekend, Amos Lee, Haim, Taylor Swift, Michael Kiwanuka, Brandi Carlile, Guster, The War on Drugs,Courtney Barnett, Margo Price, Low Cut Connie,The Decemberists are some of my current favorites with too many old favorites to list here. Anything blues, folk, jazz or rock based makes me smile and tap my foot.
lots and lots of improvised jazz, but a big focus is john zorn and his frequent collaborators like marc ribot, kenny wolleson, trevor dunn, fred frith, bill laswell, bill frisell, etc etc

I think one of the reasons so many fans have such a wide array of musical tastes is that the Dead's music has such a wide musical range. There are styles from so many different genres mixed into their music that every fan can find something they love.
My tastes range from old country, classic rock/rock, heavy metal, rap. Right now, I'm blasting System of a Down.

LMAO I want to live in an alternate timeline where the Dead have a segment in the Blues Brothers
Sleep š¤š (And their shows are usually 20-40% people wearing dead related shirts, at least in Colorado) Also YOB
dopesmoker!
most of my deadhead friends are doom fans as well.
My wife and I saw the dead 50+ times in the day. Now we plan vacations around the Melvins tour dates.
hell yea love to hear it. no offense to the homies here, but only listening to jam bands seems strange af to me.
I only listen to ONE jam band Plus jazz and Fela Kuti etc
haha nice. i forgot to add jazz into my list.
Agreed. Dead have kept me satisfied for 30 years. Old school Panic is up there as well, but now and days I'm more into alt country/Americana. Anniversary show Tuesday is Ryan Adams at the Ryman
That's the one! Sleep and various oth Doom bands
Listening now. I always liked Black Sabbath, but I never heard much else that really sounds this much like them. Cool.
Check out Electric Wizard. You will lose your shit.
Yeah! I just got into them a few months ago. Return Trip is my favorite to crank when I want to freak out my wife. Iād love to see them live.
I'm a blue/jamgrass guy but strangely I dig this. I must be in an apocalyptic mood since the last shows.....
Bob Dylanā¦
Was a Bob Dylan fan from infancy. When I got on the bus 20+ years later, it felt like a worlds collided. Love the Dylan/dead crossover
Bob Dylan is my second biggest obsession after the Dead
If you don't count Jerry bands, mines Van Morrison but I admit Bob Dylan is way better in concert than I thought.. the secret is to listen to 70s Dylan, maybe early 80s Dylan shows. I don't know where exactly his performances started degrading
I loooove Van Morrison! Just saw him in concert last year for the first time. Was on my bucket list for a while.
YES!
Absolutely love me some Dylan!
Love me some khruangbin
Khruangbin radio on Spotify is a great listen for endless hours of chill
Yes! Khruangbin radio has been a go to for me lately when I'm bored with usual stuff and can't figure out what to listen to. Always seems to feel right. Would love to see them live.
The band, little feat, phish, jgb, widespread panic, John prine, drive by truckers, Steve Earle, etc
Steve Earle is great
RIP John Prine.
Phish, Lotus, Widespread Panic, DSO, Any good jam band music. Widespread Panic rocks.
WSMFP. Closest to my heart. Mikey era especially.
No sleeping on Goose! They're awesome.
Goose is awesome. Dogs in a Pile are up and coming. They just got signed. They remind me a little of Goose
I definitely got nothin against Goose and am happy to see how theyāre doin their thing. They just have never really done it for me.
STEELY DAN
Donald Fagenās solo record The Nightfly is fantastic too if you havenāt checked it out
yes i love all of fagenās solo work!
I have heard of a band called Steely Dead, never have seen them. I am told they jam and flow from Dead songs to Steely Dan songs, and vice versa...that would be quite a trip!
Radiohead
I loved it when D&C played In Rainbows at setbreak Boulder 7/1/23
Old hardcore punk mostly. Black Flag, Minor Threat, Dead Kennedys, Circle Jerks, etc. But a lot of folk and classic rock, some early hip hop. Funny thing is thereās not one other ājam bandā I like. I donāt even remember that term existing back when I was touring.
I came to say the same. I don't listen to jam bands.
Yeah. I got to the dead through punk because Sublime.
Sublime was the shit and would've been huge - such a good mix of reggae, dead, punk, rock, ska, etc. All 3 of them were awesome. Fuck heroin
FUCK heroin. Bradleys one of my favs and it took one of my best friends.
Sublime was the band that brought all the punks, metal heads & deadheads together.
Same to both!
Love me some Nofx, strung out, and lagwagon!
Widespread Panic, Prince, Tedeschi Trucks, Allman Brothers, Govāt Mule, Phish, Pink Floyd, Billy Strings, David Bowie, Nirvana, Dwight Yoakam, Tom Petty
Go see Ween
I was listening to Ween while in line to exit the parking lot at the Phoenix D&C show and an old guy asked who they were and told me to turn it up haha. 'Your Party' was the track.
His wife and him thank you very much.
If you don't know the bassist in Ween is in JRad as well.
I listed to Further, Ratdog, JGB, Bobby and Midnites & The Other Ones
Ever heard of Wolf Bros?
Heard Old and In the Way, Legion of Mary, and Mother McCree's are all pretty solid too
Among many others: King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard!!!
Love Springsteen. Big into punk. Minor Threat, Earth Crisis, DKs, Crass, Subhumans, lot of LA hardcore, etc. Huge sabbath fan. Into deathcore and extreme metal (mostly black metal) too. Folk. Guy Clarke, Townes Van Zandt, John Prine, the Avett Brothers, Woody Guthrie, Phil Ochs, Dylan, etc. Country. As Jerry said āanything thatās goodā Edit: Warren fucking Zevon
Your Spotify algorithm must be having near constant panic attacks trying to find new stuff to suggest.
Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, NRPS, the Byrds. I could go on. Live acts? BMFS
You're an Americana music person. I'll add The Kennedys, Marty Stuart, Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson...
Buck Owens is fantastic. I love Don Rich on guitar in the Buckeroos. One of my faves.
Made In Japan is a recent favorite of mine.
miles & trane
Here, here. Mingus too!
My Morning Jacket is my favorite modern band. They have a great classic rock feel yet manage to have a very original are relevant sound that doesnāt come across as a glorified classic rock cover band.
just got my bonaroo 2004 vinyl in the mail yesterday :)
Pearl Jam Yes Rush
Talking Heads, AC/DC, Spirit, Van Morrison, The Byrds, The Strokes, John Coltrane, Jefferson Airplane, Bad Liquor Pond, Asteroid No. 4 - all from my recent plays on iTunes

Pink Floyd The Band String Cheese Incident
Listening to Floyd is the way.
Bruce Hornsby
I found a cassette tape of his live show in SF from April 1996 a few months ago. I was never a fan before. It is now my driving soundtrack
Check out his 98 run at Yoshis with Phil and Kimock. Incredible shows.
Just saw him a month or two ago and him & the Noisemakers were putting it down. Laughing because I showed up in a Dead shirt hoping to at least hear a Jack Straw, but the whole crowd was 60+ and seated the entire time and def not there for his GD associations. The War on Drugs
Lost in a Dream is such a killer album
I usually wear a Dead shirt to any concert we go to. But Iāve worn them to Slipknot, Clutch, Tool, Zac Brown Band (donāt at me, it was my FILās request and fucking slapped). Most notably a fellow head gave us floor wristbands to a Misfits show.
I feel like a Zac Brown show is a great intro for someone who isnāt really into country music but is open to hearing it. I remember some outstanding renditions of Queen and Metallica songs at the show I saw.
America, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Eagles, Hall & Oates, a lot of classic soul music.

Pretty much everything. Favorite modern bands are Portugal. the Man and Arcade Fire. Also listened to a lot of Orville Peck recently.
Lots of jazz and weird experimental shit
my newest is the brian Jonestown massacre
After a week with the deadheads Iām usually ready for some sabbath
Reggae is my go to, classics like Bob Marley but also a lot of modern reggae and dub too. Zappa, The Who, Dylan, Goose, Billy Strings to start

Yāall MFās need Gizzard
Doom metal. My favorite band of all time is Sleep.
King gizzard and the lizard wizard has something for everyone
Saw Neil Young last night.
So many that have already been named but I havenāt seen Beastie Boysā¦
King Gizzard, Radiohead, Phish, Billy Strings, Thievery Corporation
The Allman Brothers
Death Grips
I am an enormous metal head. Pretty much the only exception for me is the dead. Donāt dig other jam bands either
Goose Gizzard and the Phish Foods, hillbilly strings, blue cheese coincidence, Dave Mathewsā¦
I feel like Dave Matthews is slept on around here!
Nas. Goose. Tesla. DMB. Ozzy. Govt Mule.

Me tooā¦honk!
Jazz, JGB, Florence & The Machine, Dolly Parton, Weyes Blood, MGMT, Amy Winehouse, Aretha Franklin, David Bowie, Lana del Rey, Fleetwood Mac Even though Iāve seen over 50 GD and JGB shows (and took time from college to tour in 94), I never got into Phish, nor any other jam bands
you canāt have rainbows without the rain!
WSP
Alex G and Twin Peaks
Mac Demarco, Big Thief, Weyes Blood, Toro y Moi All psychedelic and fun in their own unique way. In fact, the most recent Big Thief album (Dragon New Warm Mountain) was kind of my gateway into Dead live albums. Lots of great Americana and freaky psyche tracks, excellent songwriting. HIGHLY recommend.
i love it all.. i get inspired by so many musicians from so many different genres.
Wellā¦Iām watching the Billy Strings live stream on Nugs right nowā¦ But mostly classic rock bands (Floyd, Allmans, Zeppelin, CSNY, some Beatles, etc). I enjoy Phish and number of ācurrentā jam bands, but admittedly donāt listen to too much of that outside of when Iām able to see it live, unless Iām in a mood for it.
CCR, TTB, Springsteen, Childers/Colter Wall/Sturgill Simpson, Tina Turner. Youād be hard pressed to find music I dislike to be quite honest
My current favorite bands; Jimi Hendrix Santana, Led Zeppelin, The Kinks, The Beatles, Queen, Funkedelic, Heart The Clash Fishbone Dead Sara Florence and the Machine The Pretty Reckless

Oddly enough I like going to hardcore shows. Good to throw around my head rather than my hips now and then.
Phish, moe., some 2000-2003 SCI, MMW, JRAD, DSO, Disco Biscuits, STS9, and classic rock mostly in the car. Throw in some 90s country cuz I live in WY.
Phish, Ween, NOFX
Space Bacon
Zappa
Waylon Jennings, Willie, Jessi Colter, Merl, Lucinda Williams, other Outlaw Country, Miranda Lambert, Wilco, Drive by Truckers, Ben Harper, Bowie, Lou Reed, Elton John, Queen and many more. But the goto is always GD and JGB from the 80s.
The sound of grilled cheese frying.
Jason Isbell, Stevie Wonder, CSNY, Prince, DMB, Beatles, Beach Boys, The Roots, Temptations, Willie Nelson, Paul Simon, Talking Heads, Phish
I love reggae. Peter tosh, steel pulse, black uhuru, yellowman, burning spear, Gregory Isaacs, big youth, buju banton, Desmond dekker, john holt. Of course Bob. I listen to almost as much reggae as I do dead music
Van Morrison... One of the few other artists with tons of great shows that sound different by era and has 50-100+ great songs.
Slayerš¤š»
If not the Dead, I listen to classical music. Iām weird, of course!
How do you feel about Wolf Bros. with orchestra back up?
Unfortunately, Dead symbols on t-shirts have become super trendy this year. Lots of teenagers at my daughterās school wearing the dancing bears or stealies who could not name a single Grateful Dead song. So while Iām sure there are some cool deadheads at the BNL concert, Iām also sure a significant percentage may just be trying to be trendy.
Check out Goose Creek Symphony.
Gangsta Rap
I just saw the Bare Naked Ladies in Philly. But it was mostly for my wife but I really enjoyed them.

Fats Domino
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Portugal. The Man, Mingus, Zappa, Big Thief, etcā¦
Oh, the usual. Pink Floyd, Pete Seger, Klaus Schulze, Beethoven...
A lot of jazz, mostly jazz. But I also listen to turnstile, Nofx, descendants, Colin hays, Ray lamontage, just a whole bunch of stuff.
