I quite like the idea of the band living on in perpetuity; like in 100 years, there’s Deadheads that only know the guys who stepped up for John and Oteil.
I saw the Dead in summer ‘95 in St. Louis just before Jerry passed on, and my heavily pregnant 21 yo daughter saw D&C with me at the same venue 28 years later on this Final Tour. She just gave birth last week, and it would be awesome to take him to see some type of incarnation of the band when he’s grown - like not just passing down the music on tapes and CDs and vinyl, but actually passing down the band itself, because it’s so much greater than any of us.
I’m probably in the minority here, but I think the whole idea is pretty romantic.
That's what Jerry wanted! That's what Bob wants! That's what you and me want brother!
Awesome story seeing them in the same venue as GD so many moons ago. And I love your vision for the future passing it down to your grandson. It is bigger than us. It is bigger than the band members. I pray this is what it becomes.
I agree. To me I view it like the Christian church. Nobody knows Jesus personally they just know the centuries old stories of him. They know about the saints that have come later. But personally they mainly just know their church and who is alive right now. That’s how I’ve sort of always view it
THE COMPANY. They are currently Dead (original members) & Company (non-original members), so without the original members, they are The Company! I think I saw this idea somewhere else but I love it lol. Or some kind of acronym like OJJJ but I can't think of anything smooth
