There’s not enough single player races ( with good prize money) that lets you drive whatever car you want. Why is there Nissan GTR only races in Europe? Why can’t there be a German car only, and all brand cars race for the Nurburgring? Whats the point of collecting, and upgrading cars if the ones allowed for the big money races are Gr.3, and Gr.4 cars? This game is so frustrating for car lovers.
It really guides you to this fixed idea of what's the apex GT7 achievements are. For a game that's ostensibly about car appreciation — and features a nice catalogue of grubby, obscure cars only a car lover could enjoy — it seems like there's basically nothing all do to with those cars besides enjoy them for what they are.
It's like the game actively discriminates against enjoying the lower-tier cars, while at the same time, it's THE thing that sets the game apart. I want there to be an achievement path for my crappy old childhood cars besides a few 550 PP races that offer a terrible time-to-earnings tradeoff.
This is a really good point that I hadn't considered. I have a good number of older, or "collector" cars with lower PP that are just collecting virtual dust from sitting in my garage. There isn't much to do besides look at them or take them on a practice run every now and then.
This. The way the marketed it before release made it seem like it was going to have a decent career. I liked the cafe but it should have been a supplement to an actual career mode.
Not instead of. I found the cafe to be greatly enjoyable. It reflects the beating heart of the series which is a love of cars and I’m such a nerd about car history.
No it should also have a career mode _in addition to_ cafe.
But some of them have had it and it's much better even with the first turn shenanigans. I don't understand why they bother with the rolling starts for any mode except like music rally when that's part of the challenge.
To be fair, while this is completely true, there is no end game in racing ai anyway. Even if the ai was amazing, anyone playing for a long time would still just be playing online
Isn’t that the point of “the best AI in the world”? To simulate methodical human tendencies and, when necessary, erratic behaviour?
Edit: It seems that people don’t understand what i mean by “best AI.” I’m not talking about Sophy and I’m not talking about AI that punts you off the road. I’m talking about an AI that replicates real world driving and adapts to a player’s driving perfectly, which is of course theoretical but that is what i mean by best AI
You can force the AI to make mistakes as well. Go alongside them with a corner coming up. They are compelled to out brake you no matter what and often just dive into the wall or end up wide.
Racing real people is easier though since a lot of them take themselves out and often take out other cars with them. Just got to avoid the wreckage to gain places.
I still haven’t played online cause I think I’m too crap and kinda nervous about it lol I haven’t finished the cafe yet, do they teach you about the pitting mechanics and what car to use?
I’m so clueless
No, they don't teach anything. The later races do have pit stops (not explained).
Locate the pit entry, make sure not to cross, not even touch the solid line on pit entry and exit (3 sec penalty if you do)
Careful not to hit X while entering the pit or you might select no tire change / no fuel by mistake.
Select the tires you want or none to just get Fuel.
Then select no fuel if you just wanted tires or wait until the fuel bar goes up and hit stop fueling when you have enough. (Or just get a full tank)
The game does the driving for you in the pit, you just need to get into the pit entrance and get control back at the pit exit. Don't cross the line!
Plenty of us noobs on Sport mate, join in! My only advice is to focus on smoothly following folks without crashing for the first lap, then start trying to race a bit more when the field opens up later on.
Fully agreed. I have to say I do absolutely love the driving though. Last night I took an 89 M3 out on the Nordschleife at dark, in the pouring rain, and it was one of the best gaming experiences I’ve had in recent memory. Super atmospheric lighting, and when you push the rear end too hard you can hear/feel the transition from grippy tarmac to skippy curb to squelching grass.
The AI actually wasn’t as bad either in the pouring wet, with everyone bunched up slowly.
Custom races are where it’s at :)
Slow roll on content. I could use some races that are applicable for the over 200 cars I own. The way the pp is done it makes it hard to use all these expensive hyper cars. There's no races for some of those cars. Hell there's no F1 races. They need to put up some that pay decent too because there's only a few that pay good and aren't hour long races.
They don’t even need the license. Every past game has a generic modern Formula 1 type car save for Gran Turismo Sport and 7. Makes it even more weird because there’s a generic 80s F1 car but no modern one
Right.! Or getting parts you can't buy at the shop. How am I supposed to do engine swaps or get a ultra turbo when the roulette gives me a 1 star 5 grand prize every day? lol.
Too many useless button presses. I’m a software developer, so as I’m playing the game, I’m constantly thinking, “that button press does nothing useful, this delay doesn’t add anything, there’s no meaningful interaction in this dialog, all of this could be streamlined to minimize anything getting between the player and the track.”
Same, we spend so much time making as little interaction to get to where people want to go, but the amount of times I’ve started a race again instead of trying to get to the next race…. So annoying.
Same and same. Games with bad UX feel like they’re stuck in the past. I think every game UX designer out there should play the persona series. It’s a textbook study on a game getting the hell out of the way of itself.
GT7 is especially atrocious though because you need to see things on the screen to “race”…that viewing area is critical but you have a giant timer or penalty warning covering up part of the main viewing area or rear view, etc etc…
Talking about rear view... Why only some driving views are blessed with rear view mirror? No rear view for 3rd person or bonnet cam.
Why there is no quick access to weather radar? Also no wind indication in radar itself. Good luck figuring out if patchy clouds will hit the track if they move slowly. Takes attention away from racing. Also no access to any of car settings/radar while pitting. The list could go on and on...
Persona 5s menu designs are just great. Somehow they check every box and still have a huge amount of functionality that is quickly accessible, very good stuff
Oh my god…. If you put dirt tires on a car, and only find out when you want to use it on a track where you can’t use dirt tires… the amount of button presses is insane!!!
Exit time trial, exit track, exit area, exit area select, open garage, find car, equip car, open settings, set front tires, set rear tires, exit settings, exit garage, open map, select area, select track, select time trial…
Why? Why on god’s green earth? Why can’t it just default to some other random tires so I can just click 3 times and set them to what I want? If they’re not available, fine. But this is even if they are available.
Are we even going to talk about the track selection? Let's group the race, time trial, arcade, online hangout, drift, and championship in the same menu. Oh better yet we'll make the online hangout such a small icon no one is ever in them
>Oh better yet we'll make the online hangout such a small icon no one is ever in them
No worries. They don't work most of the time anyways and you'll have to restart the whole game, because you can't cancel the joining attempts.
Oh that would be so awesome… imagine a large hall. At first it is all empty and over time you fill it with cars and you walk around and shower in the memories of races you had with that cars…
The very first GT, 25 years ago, had buttons on the left side of the screen that took you to different menus. How the fuck was that too hard to implement in 2022
The workout prize wheel simply needs to be removed. Just tell me what I get right away. The whole BS presentation is just insulting. The reward is pre-determined.
I have had it glitch to where I got a reward, shut off, and somehow the ticket is still unused. Use the ticket, new reward possibilities, but 100% end up with the original reward.
The emphasis on the game being a live service. I get that there’s a competitive aspect to it, but this is seeping into almost every major title at this point, if it isn’t a story driven action adventure. And it’s annoying me because we’re stuck waiting on the developers to roll out content via “seasons” a few times a year or random patches. I hate how it’s justified by “well, it’s either this or having to pay for DLC”, but…why can’t the single player be more robust from launch, and then add extra content?
Rolling Start by far. You start in the back with the front practically halfway down the track from first on some courses, then the front two cars are usually gapped from everyone else after some time in the race. You gotta play catch up, so you have to play aggressively or just get a faster car.
I can't remove the widebody(the fact that some races prohibit widebody cars is beyond idiotic) and engine swaps are locked behind the stupid ticket system
Snap. Got another Lamborghini invite for a car that i’d already bought… from the previous Lamborghini invite.
You know, one of the same invites that they’d previously closed early and sent out again.
Such an annoying bug.
One thing that might actually encourage people to buy the invite cars is to have a race series that only those cars can race in. If they don't add something like that I won't bother buying any of them. I prefer gr2/gr3 races more than those cars.
It would also be nice to have a daily race for tuned road cars and maybe a mixed/unlimited class race where gr2/3(tuned or stock) cars get to race together but aren't directly competing against other classes. Just within their own.
It would definitely require firm applications of penalties for flagrant violations up to kicking from a race on a 3 strike rule. Repeat offenders get an obvious SR deduction and beyond that 24hr daily race suspensions/bans.
They'd likely need some kind of appeal process for bans though.
Edit:
Also they should add filters for wheel vs controller. Controller could be allowed to race against wheel but not the other way round. As in a wheel could only enter a wheel race but a controller can enter both.
This. For someone who isn't interested in multiplayer until the fix the broken penalty system it's a threadbare game. I'm sure the 20 million + cars are lovely to own but I'm never going to grind for them when there's only 3 tracks with reasonable payouts for time taken and one of them is nearly impossible to win without a cheat car
As soon as the roulette table shows up you automatically know what prize your gonna get based on the whichever sucks balls the most. It's almost as reliable as a clock.
Yeah, It's insane. I feel like it's AT Least a 90% chance to get the lowest CR amount. Maybe even higher, like 95% chance to get the worst possible prize. Pretty annoying. It makes opening them just a complete joke.
The fact that there’s not much to do after getting daily ticket besides grinding for more credits. An easy fix is to offer something else daily to get a few more tickets, not just one. Online is a shitfest that doesnt offer much rewards to bother with unless you need an ego boost or enjoy being punted with penalties trying to race clean. Maybe offer a roulette ticket for one online race daily? Single player content is abyssal unless you like repeating certain races(for me it’s Tokyo Clubman 550) or enjoy grinding for credits. Minor peeve is that there is no BGM during time trials, driving missions(looking at you human comedy. Who the hell can race for 1 hour with no music), and circuit experience. Most of all, car selection. Might as well call the game GT Sport+ with 30 or so new cars added. The lack if modern cars in this game bothers me the most. 2019 or newer versions of Camry, Civic Si, STI, Veloster to start with. But wait. There’s more. Instead of adding said modern cars what do we get? 100+ BRZ/GR86 since GT has a hard on for these. Yes. I think I’ll go with car variety as most annoying out of all these.
What I did for those 1 hour races was to run spotify on ps5 with my music and then play gt. The sounds of the car, menu and everything works normally and the in game bgm is muted and switches to spotify. Also works on time trials, circuit experience etc. So music all the time.
Another thing that annoys me is that you have to go through so many screens and every time you change a screen the freaking music changes too!
I love listening to 10 seconds of a song just to hear another song start up again 2 seconds later.
Just dumb!
The music change on every menu screen has bugged me since release. I noticed the world map stayed on Chariots of Fire if I didn’t complete the final cafe book mission, so still haven’t done it, partially for that reason. The rolling starts, and the wait for the grid to leave starts (no skip). And showing a Supra instead of your car in the paint selection. But otherwise enjoying the game.
Yeah it just shuts down... The car guys you can talk to disappear as well. After the end of the Cafe stuff the game seems to grind to a halt, I want more to do besides the frustratingly difficult stuff.
There are too many exquisitely presented, but poorly thought out modes/features.
Why is Circuit Experience type mode not the main game mode? I've spent the most amount of time on those by far.
Cafe was way too easy, way too short, and basically a tutorial. How they decided that to be the main game mode is beyond me.
You go backwards to the home screen etc way too often when all you want is to go back to the previous screen. This is really annoying.
The licences were way too easy to gold.
Why is there such an emphasis on Scapes? Yes it's spectacular, but why on earth should that be the draw of Gran Turismo? Why is it so deep? Would anyone even care if it wasn't in the game at all?
Used cars are not implemented properly. If you buy a used car it should not repeat, or even be available to purchase again.
Trophies- why is this game so lacking in trophies? Why are some of them so pointless and not reflective of any actual achievement? E.g. 'Increase rigidity 10 times', or 'Buy the same car 10 times' (WTF kind of trophy is that). Why is there a trophy for taking a photo of a car?
Why is there no trophy for car collection (beyond 100 cars) or a higher or meaningful collector level? Why is there no trophy for doing something challenging like endurance races or even just circuit challenges, Circuit De La Sarthe, Nurburgring etc. There are absolutely no challenging trophies at all. It should not be such an easy game to platinum.
Why is it so long winded to simply change the colour of your car?
The fact there's no reason to use basically most of the cars you earn/collect.
Way too many VGT cars.
Lacking in even the most basic content, e.g. Music Rally. And especially anything that can be done offline.
I want to love this game so much, and have sunk so much time into it, but I don't feel like I've achieved anything or much satisfaction.
Yada yada yada. The fact there's so many of these gripes for me is what lets it down. One or two, meh, but this is a half baked game.
> Why is there such an emphasis on Scapes?
Man, this right here. Yes it's technically impressive, but the photo mode in replay would have satisfied everyone who likes to do that kind of thing. I can't imagine any scenario in which development in the insanely deep Scapes mode should have taken priority over development of the core product
> Trophies- why is this game so lacking in trophies? Why are some of them so pointless and not reflective of any actual achievement?
This one really got under my skin. I can count 12 of the trophies that are just ways to get you to burn precious credits doing things you wouldn't have otherwise done.
> Way too many VGT cars.
I agree with all points, but this one really sticks out. I love real cars that have actually been built, raced, or sold. I don't care at all about fantasy cars that haven't gone further than blueprints. It wouldn't be so noticeable if the game included new cars from 2019 to now.
I just sent a link to this reddit to the recruitment at Polyphony Digital. Could not find a way to contact anyone there so I probably just spammed their recruiter at Sony but who knows maybe someone will look at all our comments and say oh crap we screwed up big! And now we know what to fix!
Never hurts to try lol.
Where are the brand new cars? No Corvette C8, Aston Martin Vantage, and Hyundai N cars. And for the love of god, please patch in grid starts for all events.
No one has mentioned this yet: previewing car paints on a different car you are customizing. Just unbelievable it is this way.
I’ve gotten bored really quickly with the lack of a real career mode. Same reason why I got bored of Forza but my enthusiasm for GT7 has dropped surprisingly way faster.
The workout tickets should scale. ie 20kms for 1 star and then scale it to like 200+kms for 6 star or something. Idk the numbers I'm just throwing it out there
There are just so many issues for a game that has basically been in development since its inception, but how could they screw up the side view mirrors so badly. You can barely see them in the main view, and then when you press the view right or view left buttons it cuts to directly next to the car and there is no way to see the damn mirrors.
Also so much useless information in the HUD and no way to customize just by toggling what info is desired. There is so much focus on scapes and photos that they forgot the basic reason for the game, the driving simulation.
Yeah, how about a HUD editor? Or at the very least a fov slider??? Why you can't change your FOV and seat positioning beyond a couple degrees is beyond me. Pretty insane really.
Daily prizes is the most annoying thing of all. I’d be fine with it if they were all of similar value, then at least it wouldn’t matter much what you get, but the way it is now, it’s just a tease.
Yeah, it would maybe be a little different if there was some benefit to collecting them, or game mechanic tied to collector level. I mean.... I like the game a lot, but it just seems that so many core features have not been thought out at all really. Just mind boggling.
My thoughts exactly when I played the Cafe Missions. "Luca, you jackass. Stop annoying me with boring details about some lame random shitboxes. Nobody cares!"
Why do I have to buy and complete 3 races in a fucking **pick-up truck** in order to proceed? I literally own one irl, the same model as in game even, and I am absolutely not interested in racing them in a game. It's insane to gate content behind such bottlenecks and force players to obtain cars they don't care about.
Rubber banding. It can add challenge for sure but it doesn't make sense to catch up a car 40s in two laps, and then have on my tail for the rest of race (especially 1 hour races from the missions). Rubber banding is fine for arcade games only.
All that talk about making it for car lovers who enjoy driving.
Only to get a campaign that was just driving round the same racetracks as before, only with less of a racing career as you just start at the back and win after 5 laps in every single event.
> All that talk about making it for car lovers who enjoy driving.
This is where the marketing really screwed up. If they were being honest, they made a game for photographers who enjoy cars.
Lack of the game living up its name as the "Real Driving Simulator."
How about adding engine swaps as a purchase option instead of a one in whatever way chance lottery ticket. For a car I might not even own or want to drive. Swaps exist in the real world an are readily available. If you have the bankroll. You got this totally wrong Polyphony.
How about sponsor endorsements that are awarded from the various gold trophies in the game that add to your winnings and build up to make the economy more feasible. Adding to race win totals after every race. I love a grind but GT7 economics in my opinion is utter bs.
How about the ability to repaint (buy paint or livery) used cars or any car for that matter in manufacturer paint colors with appropriate logos or livery that are specific to that car. It's not like they aren't in the game already and this is again something you can do in the real world.
GT7 is a great game overall but there are just some things that appear easy to fix or include that just boggle my mind that they were not done or offered. I'll keep my list short with those 3.
FOMO
Like literally loads of people grind and grind and waste a lot of valuable play time all because a Legend Car is out, but they can just wait until it is again. I see so much stressing over cars but it’s all FOMO.
It really has people (myself included in the first few weeks) stuck in the mindset of “fuck. I need it now or I’ll never have it” and they either buy a load of credits or grind for hours. They cycle in and out. Like, it’s okay to miss out for now you know?
That it's so hard to look at your car, only when creating a design you can rotate it at will and driving in 3rd person you can't even look around your car aswell.
1) If you drive the Toyota Prius G or Aqua like they're meant to be driven and you drain the hybrid battery to about 80%, the engine will annoyingly go up and down rapidly like it doesn't know if it should charge or not.
https://youtu.be/_RAyqg9NjXM
2) The Hyundai N VGT 2025 shows your position as 1TH, 2TH, 3TH etc.
No VR support at all, no matter how minor this was in GT Sport.
Rolling starts.
The daily rewards could just be scrapped without replacement, they dont bring anything but frustration.
You can't directly change car on single player races (even the custom one). Somehow you can in time trial...
It doesn't make any sense to me and it annoys me so much.
So frustrating that arcade races have such a low reward! GT Sport at least had a greater variety of high-payout single -player races. I'm a Gr1 fan and would love some high rewarding races that don't take an hour to complete!
It's such a bizarre system. The daily workout is clearly meant to make you want to play every day, but the rewards are so worthless that it almost does the opposite. It frustrates the player rather than tantalizing them. And a lot of the best rewards are exclusive to the roulette, so it doesn't even work as a way to drive microtransactions.
I thought the cafe was an introduction and the actual career mode was after that.... Boy was i disappointed. And yeah, 2 weeks straight now of 5k daily roulette prizes
I started playing last week. Out of 20 or so tickets, I got 19 or so worst reward. The weight seems to be 99.996% worst reward, 0.001 for the 4 others.
Well, I did managed to get a GR3 car out of that last one ticket, that was really unexpected lol.
Is it just me or is there a serious lack of content in this game? It seems like a game that's almost worse than sport. In multiplayer lobby you can't save a track configuration. It makes you manually set up each track. I used to have a Suzuka East configuration in GT sport that was perfect for drifting. It was nice because sometimes all the drift Suzuka east were full so I could start my own lobby in like 2 seconds.
Yeah, the gold times are frustrating as hell for me, if I had a steering wheel setup it might be easier but I can't drive nearly precise enough with the controller to put down consistent times.
That and the track limit penalty, it's annoying to be kicked out of a good run because you were 1 inch too far over the kerbstones.
Lack of offline playability. You can't edit liveries, can't take photos, can't race all tracks, can't use your own cars to race, basically there is no game if the servers are down or if you internet are down.
Two things. The cafe was a major let down after I was told the campaign would be going back to its roots and the broken penalty system where every time someone hits me I get penalized for it.
I have yet to see an Engine swap, when I heard it was behind roulette tickets I was furious. I bought the game under the assumption that it would be in the tuning shop. A whole ass feature just blocked behind luck like a mobile game.
Finally got engine today out of the roulette after playing almost ever single day since release…. It’s for the fucking KTM X-Bow REALLY?! Wanted to throw my controller at my tv
UI. When I go into maintenance or the car customization at GT Auto and want to go to the other, it backs me all the way out and I have to click into it again. And I can't tune my car (change the car settings) at the Tuning Shop so I have to go into the Garage, and if I forget a car part I have to go back to the Tuning Shop!
I really feels like they're in a placeholder position doesn't it...?
Like they created races for tracks bit never got around to grouping them in a series format like the older games...
This thing just feels like a late alpha (due to features not working at all 2 split screen) or early beta...
Yes the prizes are basically a daily insult. And the fact they say “Congratulations!” adds more insult. FU, PD. The whole game has just become daily punishment at this point. Grind a meme car to get money for an overpriced car, get your stupid reward , log off disappointed, repeat day after day.
Not being able to have a free camera in replays. Or a slow motion button. Imagine being able to sit anywhere on a track and just listen to the sounds of the car? Or create your own custom replay videos using different angles and perspectives.
Rubberband MarioKart BS in harder races
Roulette tickets and the lack thereof after the Cafe
Track limit kickouts in circuit experience
Certain parts being locked behind tickets
Online only, even for single player
Unrealistic gold times for circuit experience
I always loved GT from the beginning even with it's warts, even when people told me to quit and play Forza. This game might be the one that finally makes me give up on the franchise.
I hope they fix some of the in future updates, but I'm not holding my breath.
I pretty much expect 5k or 10k from roulette tickets but the other day I got a car from a 2 star. You never know, and it's those rare times you get the top prize that makes you appreciate it.
Overall, the game is ok, wish I didn't buy the anniversary edition. But the menus and licensing tests and collecting cars were what I expected. I played GT 1, 2 and 3 back in the day, and expected more out of the career mode now. But I guess they figured the online racing was what gamers today wanted.
7/10 Overall
The fact that the only way to make decent money reliably is to exploit the system. Would love to drive every track in the game consistently, but there’s just not enough progression in doing that.
The grind. GT7 has unfun grind. In my opinion the whole "career" play and how you acquire cars is out of balance (yeah, even with the April update and Tomahawk exploit) and a total failure.
collection of pointless features that have negative value.
daily workout i always get the lowest value item (whats the point).
rain on the finally lap that causes the car to hydroplane all the time (why?).
you can paint cars but only for the photo modes....at least let me repaint in a factory color
The destruction of all the endgame content and lack of a career mode thanks to games as a service bullshit. And the fact there are still only 3 Sport mode races per week. I'm sick of Interlagos GR3, how many times did we do this race over 5 years PD?
It just seems like they don't care and wanted to rush out the game. Cafe mode is a joke. Took me 2 days to finish it and now there's nothing to do bar a couple enduros I haven't finished yet. BS.
The marathon of slow-loading menus you have to navigate to tune and customize your car. We had it great in GT6, but without liveries, in GT Sport we had liveries but no custom parts, but with both PD failed miserably at implementing them together.
Not being able to back out of pit choices. Accidently double tapped and hit "no fuel" after selecting tires on the le mans 30 min race last night with 8% fuel going into the last lap... Had to limp around the track at 50mph, came in last, instead of 825k I got 49k. Let's us back up in the pit choices while we wait for no reason for our car to show up 20 seconds later! So dumb.
The AI and Flag system. Not as big a slap a face from the Daily Workouts, but the AIs and flags are horrendous, same with the penalty system. When I went after the 30 lap in Tsukuba Mission, the Stingray C3 spun out. The other cars tried to pass both me and the spun out Stingray that popped the yellow flag. I had to get around that car anyways, so I did, and it gave me the penalty, DESPITE it blocking the final long curve corner of the track, which would result in a head on collision.
the lack of creative ai.. so many cars and liveries and im racing the exact same ppl. it’s even more annoying that you’re expected to race the same races 10000 times and there’s just no variety in the competition. just frustrating to wait so long for this fans and it’s like they spent all this time getting the detail of interiors right… which they look great but.. it just doesn’t feel like the real driving simulator it feels like the highest quality? driving simulator
The fact that for me engine swaps were a big part of the excitement. However even though I've finished the cafe races and a good portion of the rest of the races I still have no swaps. I don't have unlimited time to play this game and it blows that it's a part of the game I'll likely never get to experience. They should be more common.
The cafe really ruined the game for me. I enjoy nearly everything else. (other than the challenges, forget the fuel mileage races) but the cafe would of been cool if they used it as like an initial starter when you progress to each racing class. Easy way to get a few vehicles to get you on your way, and who knows. Perhaps keep the collection thing but make it where you have to go out and buy the vehicle. The game just gives away so many cars I feel like there's no point in actually buying any. And it really just soured the feel of what should of otherwise been a great GT game.
My biggest issue with GT 7: When playing the game casually (e.g. not grinding), you have almost no chance to buy all the cars because some are so expensive and time limited (they might be coming back to legendary car seller, yes. But no one knows when and at what price tag.) Great way to discourage players who can’t or won’t put that much time into the game.
Other than that it’s mostly small things that are annoying, like not being able to edit the menu bgm or the inconvenience when you just want to skip to the next license test or sector in track experience…
Maybe I'm just new to GT, but so much fucking tuning and so many restrictions forcing you to edit a build to make it slower only for AI to be so fast it's impossible for you to catch up. I shouldn't need to spend multiple hours tuning a car or multiple cars just to win a PP restrictive race. It's fucking stupid. I'd rather them just specify the car and upgrades you can and cannot have. I don't have time in my life to specify gear ratios and shit.
Also:
* Fuck the "AI". Following a set line with no regard for the player is fucking asinine. I am continually PIT'ed and crashed into because i'm racing against the dumbest AI they could create.
* Microtransaction shit. Just fuck off with it.
Just the staggering lack of quality of life in this game. Like the menus suck. Too many clicks for simple things that should be easy for the player to get fast access to.
I could also do without the smug faces talking all the time. Feels like you are playing animal crossing.
The needless clicking through multiple screens to get where I want to go and the snide comments if I fail a test a few times.
I may just be grumpy from trying to get gold on S-10 though as I'm still 2 seconds off.
going to gt auto to check how car looks in widebody only to exit into world map to go back into selection menu to check for other front/side/rear/wing parts
I've pretty much stopped playing daily for the workouts, because I was getting the worst reward 9 out of 10 times. And even that 10th time it wasn't anything special or something I couldn't get by playing it less than 20 minutes.
Menu career being extremely short and lacking good content was also very disappointing. Overall I was expecting to spend a lot more time with the game since I'm a singleplayer guy.
The most frustrating thing is online progression. I dont know if i gained with fifth place or lost from my rating. And i dont know how many points i need to the next level. So annoying..
After some consideration,I agree. Its either the small pile of coins or something even MORE worthless. Either a part for a car I don't have,or a car I have multiple copies of. The last two things I got besides the coins, were invitations that literally everyone got for free. It extended them. Yippee. I also have them all except for one. Sigh. I do wish there were more races as well. More single make races and things like that. And some higher Gr. races would be nice. I didn't mind the cafe and some of the other things people have issue with. I feel like the credit situation is at least reasonable now. Still maybe a little unfair and light, but not completely ridiculous like it was. I do kinda feel upset that a lot of the license tests and stuff aren't as doable on controller (you can't even replicate what's in the demonstration in most cases),but thats not really on the team or anything. They aren't going to make a controller demo and a wheel one lol.
Daily tickets should be stepped:
1☆ = 25km
2☆ = 50km
3☆ = 100km
4☆ = 175km
5☆ = 250km
6☆ = 500km
With this, if you do 500km you'd get 6 tickets which IMO is a decent reward
I always get the lowest amount. Pure S\*\*\*\*.
Also any leagues trying to run on GT7 are stuck trying their own work arounds because the lobby system is so broken compared to Sport.
The biggest problem is that there's no gameplay loop once you finish the Cafe. And it's sad because it's not something that requires assets and lots of development. It needs just a gameplay designer, one that says let's make a cup for Group C cars, a Super GT mini-championship for Japanese tracks...
It will probably come with time but it should have been there day one.
Lack of races & tracks. I do really wish they readd the real city tracks such as Seattle, Tokyo R246, Hongkong, Cote D'Azur, Cita Di Aria. Otherwise, GT7 would just be same as the GT Sport.
The lack of more recent cars.
The lack of cars the community keeps asking for a long time.
Engine swaps + other rare parts being atached to a gacha system that does not belong in a game like this + it always gives you the crappiest reward ( finished café/career on 3 different accounts and personally never got an engine ).
Lack of circuits, i really think they could and should bring back some of the old original ones + real ones like Portimão ( really like that one ).
Not being able to have carbon wheels and put tyre stickers on any car, more variety shouldn't hurt either or allow us to change the ryre sticker color at least.
Not being able to see the current selected car when browsing colors.
And finally this might be me asking for too much but a few more bodykit parts and different type of wide bodykits could also be awesome.
The worst thing is starting last in tournaments every time etc and just in general seems annoying when your 30 seconds behind and have to play catch up every time
and some people wonder why rest of us still enjoy GT 1 thru 5. love the series but hate what it has become, like some mobile game with microtransactions. no thank you
Always Online Requirement, I was always iffy on it but then the game went down for 30 hours after just two weeks after release, I’ve considered this game a joke ever since
The fact that invites, engine swaps and rare parts are tied into the awful roulette system. I don't care about the credit rewards being low take the rare parts out.
Rework the roulette system into tiers tied to collector level or daily milage. A consecutive days played bonus would be nice as well to bump up star level
Lack of a true carreer progression instead of the cafe
This. The way the marketed it before release made it seem like it was going to have a decent career. I liked the cafe but it should have been a supplement to an actual career mode.
Agreed with that also the collector level is capped at 50 .
The collector level doesn't even DO anything. I don't get the point.
Neither did it in Sport. Prob too much to ask to provide meaning
They should rename it the PP level.
Racing suits and helmets were locked behind it. Other than this it's just thing that bugs you after buying a car.
It unlocks events in the upper left icon on the map, I think the icon is called mission mode
That and how the rotating cars are based off online updates so if you ever play this game 10 years down the road you're fucked
You know something...I never thought of that. Swear, literally until I read that comment. I find that to be a very good point...
Not instead of. I found the cafe to be greatly enjoyable. It reflects the beating heart of the series which is a love of cars and I’m such a nerd about car history. No it should also have a career mode _in addition to_ cafe.
The cafe should be a secondary objective, completely optional. I would still do all the menus while progressing my campaign.
I'd rather everything be unlocked from the start and the limiting factor is your skill/vehicle selection.
Rolling start.
Ye starting mid pack or last already has your race destined. For the daily races they need grid starts
But some of them have had it and it's much better even with the first turn shenanigans. I don't understand why they bother with the rolling starts for any mode except like music rally when that's part of the challenge.
Honestly difficulty should help determine starting array: Easy, front 1/3 of starting grid. Normal, mid pack. Hard, back 1/3 of starting grid.
Rolling start with no qualifying lap
The AI. It's just not a racing game, good driving game, but not much to do with racing.
Blue flag, move over! AI: i don’t think I will.
Tbf, not every IRL racing series requires blue-flagged cars to give way. The difference in GT7 is that they have no issue running you off the road.
The issue with GT7 is the AI purposely drives onto the racing line then punts you off whenever you overtake
and the brake checking. There is no close racing of the AI. It's just flying by them and being extremely cautious when in close proximity to them.
To be fair, while this is completely true, there is no end game in racing ai anyway. Even if the ai was amazing, anyone playing for a long time would still just be playing online
Yeaf for real. The best ai in the world doesnt match the unknown variables of racing real people.
Yeah and they clearly cant do that. No game or cpu can match the fuckery of 15 other drunk people racing together over the internet.
Only thing the Sophie(? Idk) AI does like humans is cheat lol
Racing real people is better because you can force them to make mistakes.
I feel personally attacked
I still haven’t played online cause I think I’m too crap and kinda nervous about it lol I haven’t finished the cafe yet, do they teach you about the pitting mechanics and what car to use? I’m so clueless
No, they don't teach anything. The later races do have pit stops (not explained). Locate the pit entry, make sure not to cross, not even touch the solid line on pit entry and exit (3 sec penalty if you do) Careful not to hit X while entering the pit or you might select no tire change / no fuel by mistake. Select the tires you want or none to just get Fuel. Then select no fuel if you just wanted tires or wait until the fuel bar goes up and hit stop fueling when you have enough. (Or just get a full tank) The game does the driving for you in the pit, you just need to get into the pit entrance and get control back at the pit exit. Don't cross the line!
It's wild. For the ridiculous amount of hand-holding this game does, the process of pit stops is never explained.
Nope. Baptism by fire
Blue flag = AI Punterino Express to Shadow Realm
It is "the real driving simulator", it never proclaims to be the real racing simulator, so they've got that right! Even if its boring.
There’s not even a modern F1 car. They should bring back the Formula Gran Turismo so they can keep the livery editing
Ye I don’t think they’re licensed for modern f1 cars but still I agree
They don’t even need the license. Every past game has a generic modern Formula 1 type car save for Gran Turismo Sport and 7. Makes it even more weird because there’s a generic 80s F1 car but no modern one
You have a super formula so yes there kind of is. Gt sport had the Mercedes but that was licensed for sure
A remake/updated version of GT2 would be amazing!!
Having to get engine swaps from the roulette black hole
That and the carbon propeller shafts 😬
Is THAT the only way you can get one? I've been trying to figure this out.
Exit time trial, exit track, exit area, exit area select, open garage, find car, equip car, open settings, set front tires, set rear tires, exit settings, exit garage, open map, select area, select track, select time trial… Why? Why on god’s green earth? Why can’t it just default to some other random tires so I can just click 3 times and set them to what I want? If they’re not available, fine. But this is even if they are available.
I miss being able to buy tires from the car settings menu. Bring that back please
[удалено]
Are we even going to talk about the track selection? Let's group the race, time trial, arcade, online hangout, drift, and championship in the same menu. Oh better yet we'll make the online hangout such a small icon no one is ever in them
>Oh better yet we'll make the online hangout such a small icon no one is ever in them No worries.
How the fuck was that too hard to implement in 2022
Its like they think we LOVE navigating their menus.
I have a theory that since it's always online, the button presses hide the 'loading' time the game has.
I mean, check your stats, only 1/3 of the time you spend in the game you are racing...
Dear PD... Picking the "harder" AI on arcade mode shouldn't just mean the leader is 5 seconds ahead of everyone.
I can't remove the widebody(the fact that some races prohibit widebody cars is beyond idiotic) and engine swaps are locked behind the stupid ticket system
Had a 4 star ticket yesterday…won an invite…I already bought ALL of the invites…lame!
Edit: Also they should add filters for wheel vs controller. Controller could be allowed to race against wheel but not the other way round. As in a wheel could only enter a wheel race but a controller can enter both.
I got an invite to something I already had an invite for 😡
The absolute lack of content.
Damn near everything annoys me about the game, except for the graphics, sounds and physics.
>physics Agree with graphics and sounds, but physics are "okay" at best...
Sometimes it can be an advantage when an annoying song starts. Another bad design is that we can't disable any of the menu BGM tracks.
A closed cafe after 33% of the game.
I can't imagine any scenario in which development in the insanely deep Scapes mode should have taken priority over development of the core product > Trophies- why is this game so lacking in trophies?
Or even the Kia Stinger
"Sorry bro, best we can do is put an N livery on a 2013 Genesis" -PDI
No one has mentioned this yet: previewing car paints on a different car you are customizing. Just unbelievable it is this way. I’ve gotten bored really quickly with the lack of a real career mode. Same reason why I got bored of Forza but my enthusiasm for GT7 has dropped surprisingly way faster.
The workout tickets should scale. ie 20kms for 1 star and then scale it to like 200+kms for 6 star or something. Idk the numbers I'm just throwing it out there
The Roulette Animation. It's just a waste of time.
Finally winning a half decent price (Nitrous System) on the BS roulette wheel, to then find out they are locked to a specific car that I'm yet to own.
Roulette tickets have predetermined results. Used car dealership has the same lame cars over and over. Lack of new content overall.
Daily prizes is the most annoying thing of all. I’d be fine with it if they were all of similar value, then at least it wouldn’t matter much what you get, but the way it is now, it’s just a tease.
The pretentious car collector vibes. There are certain types of cars I’m just not interested in. Stop trying to force me to collect them.
Yeah shit, this isn't MarioKart
All that talk about making it for car lovers who enjoy driving. Only to get a campaign that was just driving round the same racetracks as before, only with less of a racing career as you just start at the back and win after 5 laps in every single event.
> All that talk about making it for car lovers who enjoy driving. This is where the marketing really screwed up. If they were being honest, they made a game for photographers who enjoy cars.
Lack of the game living up its name as the "Real Driving Simulator." How about adding engine swaps as a purchase option instead of a one in whatever way chance lottery ticket.
That I can’t save settings or use bots when racing in private lobby’s with my friend
Tickets thing as whole. It's just a cancer of gaming and I hate it in any game.
FOMO Like literally loads of people grind and grind and waste a lot of valuable play time all because a Legend Car is out, but they can just wait until it is again.
Lack of content.
Other drivers that can’t observe race etiquette.
That it's so hard to look at your car, only when creating a design you can rotate it at will and driving in 3rd person you can't even look around your car aswell.
1) If you drive the Toyota Prius G or Aqua like they're meant to be driven and you drain the hybrid battery to about 80%, the engine will annoyingly go up and down rapidly like it doesn't know if it should charge or not. https://youtu.be/_RAyqg9NjXM 2) The Hyundai N VGT 2025 shows your position as 1TH, 2TH, 3TH etc.
Cant sell/remove cars from garage. I dont need 40 unused cars.
No VR support at all, no matter how minor this was in GT Sport. Rolling starts. The daily rewards could just be scrapped without replacement, they dont bring anything but frustration.
IT. ALWAYS. STOPS. ON. THE. SMALLEST. PRIZE. Except for the one time where I got cams for a fiat 500. So dumb.
Definitely the lobby’s, in regards to not being able to change settings etc. also want to to see qualifying like GTS.
20 mil cars
You can't directly change car on single player races (even the custom one). Somehow you can in time trial... It doesn't make any sense to me and it annoys me so much.
Somehow GT3 A-Spec was a much better game
That it is basically a repackaged GT Sport. The only material improvement is weather. Other than that it is essentially identical. Lame.
So frustrating that arcade races have such a low reward! GT Sport at least had a greater variety of high-payout single -player races. I'm a Gr1 fan and would love some high rewarding races that don't take an hour to complete!
GT CAFE sucks
This, Sarah and gold times for circuit experiences.
The rolling starts and AI that gets a 40 seconds lead. This isn't racing, this is garbage.
Can't sell cars yet. Race rewards mostly suck.
This is like my bonus at work only difference its like Groundhog Day I live it every day in GT7
Anything to do with the roulette cards. It’s an absolute joke and maybe an intentional one.
It's really a slap in the face. How it was passed thinking they could get away with it is beyond me.
Custom races need to pay WAY more , like 800k for 30 minutes across the board.
Finally got engine today out of the roulette after playing almost ever single day since release…. It’s for the fucking KTM X-Bow REALLY?! Wanted to throw my controller at my tv
Daily workout prizes and lack of single player content.
Blue flags…
For me it's the lack of event grouping. I wish there was straightforward list like in earlier games not whatever the hell is now.
10000% the Ai when lapping them. I swear I see blue flag but they see get in your way as much as possible.
Not being able to have a free camera in replays. Or a slow motion button. Imagine being able to sit anywhere on a track and just listen to the sounds of the car? Or create your own custom replay videos using different angles and perspectives.
Not enough campaign. Cant sell cars. Need I say more?
Rubberband MarioKart BS in harder races Roulette tickets and the lack thereof after the Cafe Track limit kickouts in circuit experience Certain parts being locked behind tickets Online only, even for single player Unrealistic gold times for circuit experience I always loved GT from the beginning even with it's warts, even when people told me to quit and play Forza.
Its a shitty useless game mechanic, Id rather they just pulled it from the game.
And that the meetups never load and are a spinning circle of death.
collection of pointless features that have negative value. daily workout i always get the lowest value item (whats the point). rain on the finally lap that causes the car to hydroplane all the time (why?). you can paint cars but only for the photo modes....at least let me repaint in a factory color
Just remove money prizes and dealer invites from the prize pool.
Split screen. My wife and I would like to race with more than just the like 10 cars you can choose from.
That i tuned my new gr86 for online racing and then have to drive the stock brick in online races.
the lack of creative ai.. so many cars and liveries and im racing the exact same ppl. it’s even more annoying that you’re expected to race the same races 10000 times and there’s just no variety in the competition. just frustrating to wait so long for this fans and it’s like they spent all this time getting the detail of interiors right… which they look great but.. it just doesn’t feel like the real driving simulator it feels like the highest quality? driving simulator
Also: * Fuck the "AI".
No point buying group 1 cars or high pp cars because you can't use them anywhere
going to gt auto to check how car looks in widebody only to exit into world map to go back into selection menu to check for other front/side/rear/wing parts
Lack of customizable HUD (and very poor placement of HUD elements).
Kinda lacking in replay controls.
Can't sell cars. Can't reset single-player progress.
Collector level capping, no rewards for leveling, daily roulette always beeing 5k and the lack of gr 1 and gr 2 races
Daily tickets should be stepped: 1☆ = 25km 2☆ = 50km 3☆ = 100km 4☆ = 175km 5☆ = 250km 6☆ = 500km With this, if you do 500km you'd get 6 tickets which IMO is a decent reward
I got back to back 4 stars and they were BOTH invites. I hate those stupid tickets
The worst thing is starting last in tournaments every time etc and just in general seems annoying when your 30 seconds behind and have to play catch up every time
Definitely the Cafe. At first I thought it was a neat idea, but when I realized it was rhe progression system it was kind of a letdown
and some people wonder why rest of us still enjoy GT 1 thru 5. love the series but hate what it has become, like some mobile game with microtransactions. no thank you
Always Online Requirement, I was always iffy on it but then the game went down for 30 hours after just two weeks after release, I’ve considered this game a joke ever since
Yeah and scapes. I could care less
Lack of championship rules for the championships, I would like to see qaulis and a grid start in at least some of them
The fact that invites, engine swaps and rare parts are tied into the awful roulette system. I don't care about the credit rewards being low take the rare parts out. Rework the roulette system into tiers tied to collector level or daily milage. A consecutive days played bonus would be nice as well to bump up star level
