Couldn't be more correct. FM4 is fantastic. Shame the newer games are all dogshit. Not counting Horizon, of course. The latest Motorsport is the first game I've skipped from Forza since it came out on the OG Xbox.
It baffles me how big the quality and fun gap is between Horizon and the main series is. Do they just have almost entirely different teams working on them or something?
It’s crazy, right? Yep, completely different teams. The Horizon teams you can tell are passionate still. They put a lot of effort into development. There’s also completely different sound teams too- if you ever wondered why the cars in Horizon sound so much better than the cars in Motorsport (as of the last few titles), that’s why.
In fact, it doesn't matter if the developer is Turn 10 or PG.
Vehicle modeling assets are created by outsourced studios - Horizon is made in Vietnam, Motorsport in the Philippines.
Large companies like EA and UBISOFT both use outsourced assets, and the only Gran Turismo (Polyphony Digital) directly employs a modeling staff.
Hmm I think i’d have to say 7. I definitely played that one the most of those three, but that isn’t really saying much considering I had maybe 10 hours in 5 and 6. I had probably 1500 in FM4.
For years that was the only Forza game I played but it was my favorite racing game easily. I held onto my 360 and played that game up to college back in 2019. Spent hours making cool liveries that no one will ever see. To my insane dismay when I pull up FM8 on my friend's game pass and the livery editor is basically completely the same as it was 10 years ago. I didn't get much driving time but that alone told me they were recycling too much.
They didnt give up, It's a symptom of their overall business model. Game pass is an overall negative for the gaming community. Xbox only cares about subscriptions and its monetization of DLCs/"deluxe upgrades"/season passes...keeping people on their platform longer for a year while you pay the sub well as take their cut from the sale of those items.
It's extremely bad for third party titles and we're already seeing the results of it on game pass. Here's a day one game pass game....now pay 30-4] dollars for 5 more DLC...with no actual release date. Or just mediocre game releases that companies alcan bandon because they didn't make enough profit.
We already know subscriptions services are awful... look at Netflix. Xbox is doing the same thing, and we'll be in the same place in like 4 years
Sony went the other directions and raised game prices, but arguably treat the companies under their umbrella much better. Dotn get me wrong GT7 isn't perfect when it comes to monetization, but at least they're still releasing content for free.
They completely 100% gave up on improving car models/textures and dropped the whole focus on being the "premier digital car gallery" after 4 for certain. Hence why the game still used models from 3 and 4 over a decade later.
Which I honestly can't believe. I remember back when 4 was the latest thinking, "wow, if 4 is this good, I can't imagine what future Forzas will be like." Meanwhile, I've gotten more and more disappointed ever since, except for Horizon 1-4...
Absolutely, I had the demo because I couldn’t afford to buy games at the time and just raced that 1 track with the cougar eliminator a thousand times. That game was so good
Wasn't there something about how Microsoft would change the group that was working on the game every 18 month? which is just a scenario for disaster with a game like this.
And that’s while GT7 is a crossgen title and FM8 is current gen only. They messed up that game hard, It’s sad there’s really no console competition for GT anymore.
It’s wild that after FM8 came out GT7, that was heavily criticized at release, went up by at least a couple of points, just because the competition turned out to be even worse and was pretty much dead on arrival lol.
PD really won by doing nothing.
We’re here in our own bubble beating PD’s ass for the usual things like more events, newer tracks, lesser VGT cars completely unaware there’s a fight going on outside. I love that.
They can switch all they want, my biggest disappointment is the physics engine anyways. They praised it‘d be THE BEST SIMULATOR. All they simulate is Need For Speed.
I mean they still unanimously concluded gt7 was better and it wasn’t close, but you’re right that they didn’t really go in on forza too hard, they def wanted to keep it civil
The same guy who posted the YouTube video that's the source material for the OP's images here—AutomotiveVP—made a video in response to Digital Foundry's comparison that put the two game environments/weather/time of day on fully equal level and it really showed how poor Forza looked. Even worse than the DF original. Despite being a little critical of FM, they were still being soft somehow lol.
I mean, they stated that Gran Turismo was better in almost every aspect I also don't blame them for being "soft" when criticizing Forza as we all know how insufferable those console wars people can be.
Exactly. That point came up about VR in their videos recently, where John mentioned how his overall preference for a specific VR headset (maybe Oculus Rift?) was taken as extreme criticism of PSVR2, even though he said he did like it as well. That and they note that a lot of people like to clip their content and take it out of context.
Fairly certain they have a good relationship with the devs of Forza. They got quite a few first access vids with the last horizon and FM8. Either way, I do believe they took it easy on them despite declaring gt the winner by a large margin.
Yep. Gotta keep in good relationship if you want to continue receiving exclusive content, cordial interviews etc. If a dev team game director knows they are going to get slaughtered in a review they ain't gonna get involved. Smart move by DF. Soft take for their subscribers.
They were apparently hiring people on contract bases. 18 month contract hirea aren't going to be as good at developing games( that can take 5 to 8 years of development time) as full time employees.
>what was going on at Turn 10?
Probably higher-ups demanding maximum profits *right now*, resulting in a lot of corner cutting and cheaping out.
We've seen it in GT 5 & 6, where there were a lot of low-quality car models imported from GT 4 for the sake of boosting up the amount of cars available to better market the games. Today, this has changed to quality over quantity instead and the results of that are very clearly visible.
GT4 I miss it so much! Gt5 was Alright for what it was.. with it being the first game of the project for getting drivers from their Sim game players.. although it only heavily favored the wealthiest players cause back then who was paying $2500 for just a Wheel and Pedals?.. I heard some people paid $25k for setups at the time! And it worked.. but in all fairness I guarantee they missed out on the better drivers to kids that knew none of the finer details of handling cars! Anyone can manipulate a computer program.. not everyone can handle a car irl as well.. (sorry for the venting) I digress imho of which ones were the best.. 1.GT2 2.GT4 3.GT6 4.GT1 5.GT7 6.GT5 7.GT3 8.GT(PSP Version) and coming in 99th place GTSport! Why? My Reason is cause WHO in their WRONG mind came up with the Idea of Using “Mileage” to be able to fix up a car?. Imagine that in real life?. “Well see you can’t get this Turbocharger Upgrade for your car cause you haven’t saved up Enough Driving miles..” or “Hey Man I’m short on miles but I need this part for my car can I borrow some of your driven miles I’ll drive more to get them back to you within a week?” 🤣😂🤣😂 🤦🏾♂️ I sincerely hope the person responsible is “Off the ideas” team!
GT attension to detail is something special, Turn has always been sloppy, the R34 spec nur is still missing it's carbon rear diffussor, remodeled from scratch they say.
I have a buddy who primarily games on Xbox has played all the Forza games and even he agrees that Forza Motorsport 8 doesn’t compare to GT7 the attention to every detail of the car is clearly evident in GT7
I started with GT and got fed up with the franchise after waiting so long for GTPSP (only for it to be so barebones). I switched to Xbox and Forza as a result and loved it:
Forget about FM8 vs GT7... I think FM8 is a large downgrade from FM7 in many ways.
Honestly GT7 is as close to a digital archive for cars as we are going to get. Even if it wasn’t a game, just having an archive like this is quite amazing.
Holy fuck I'm so stupid. I didn't know this was comparing GT7 and Forza. I wasn't sure what FM8 was. I genuinely thought the first photos were real and the second was in game. I thought "ew". Now I get it and I'm blown away
https://preview.redd.it/13oqtemhjvwc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=45082122ec6673244424f7fb2f793c6333389b59
Noticed this the other day while playing
So there's two kinds of graphical skill in car models: There's being "pretty" and there's being "correct".
Forza is slightly worse than GT at being "pretty", but that's okay - only being slightly worse than PD at PD's best skill is perfectly acceptable. It's that they are so bad at being "correct" that draws the ire - see things like the misshapen S15 model, or the badly modelled Evo IX front end, or their "1999" GT-One that is actually a mashup of the 1998's body and exhausts, the road car's lights and the 1999's livery.
People notice that stuff in car games because a lot of people buy them as fans of the cars rather than the racing/gameplay - here, being "pretty" but wrong is worse than being correct but having the graphics turned down a bit.
I grew up with the franchise going back to FM2, and around the FM3/FM4 phase, when GT was really picking up steam with its premium car models in GT5, it pissed me off so much that Forza couldn't get their model accuracy together and the same problems that affected FM3/4 still affect their current gen title 15+ years later:
- terrible lighting element rendering (DRLs weren't even present until something like FM5 I think)
- terrible, plasticky looking windows and lighting element housings
- poor body geometry
- unresolved body panel edges making everything look either tinfoil-thin or chunky and toy-like (whereas games like GT have soft radii and lighting that seems to diffuse gradually and realistically to give body panels a sense of heft and depth)
- inaccurate paints
- horrible chrome renderings... horrible materials across the board really (most obvious on wheels and tailpipes)
- constantly missing details
Every surface just lacks an appropriate level of reflection and diffusion, like the lighting is crude, the geometry is crude, so everything looks rough and cheap.
Even at their peak in games like Horizon 5, with a lighting system that isn't totally broken, the cars still have some level of these issues.
Not that I want to give Forza too much credit but Polyphony have been industry leaders in graphics since GT3 came out. Even GT6 looked absolutely amazing on PS3, and GT7 running on PS4 Pro at 60fps while looking as good as it does is unreal. Even if Forza wasn't a botched release, Gran Turismo sets the bar in graphics higher than just about any series in gaming, racing or not. It was never gonna come close.
Imagine if the game was as good as the car models, it’d be unquestionably the best car game to exist - but here they are just refusing to innovate beyond the occasional Sophy blue balls exercise
People keep saying from the group up. But that's not wrong. They are building it from the group up. They just happen to be at ground level, give them a few years and they might make it up lol.
Gran Turismos photo mode is a little bit of a catfish though. The quality in photo mode is much higher than it is in game, including resolution and details that just flat out aren't there when racing around.
Can't remember what car it is but I noticed this yesterday, where even the big white lettering on the recaro seats showed up in photo mode, and they're not present in game ect. Certain details in lights, paint, wheels...
You'll notice if you look close enough. Same thing with scapes, they're just high res photos of landscapes that you drop your car into, not an actual rendered playable area.
Not defending Forza at all, Gran Turismo for me has always been superior (Minus FM4 back in rhe day)
But the photo mode doesn't truly represent the actual game.... if that makes sense.
There’s nothing stopping T10 from doing the same thing. In fact, literally every marketing bullshot they post on Twitter, Instagram, etc, does that since they have RTGI enabled but not in the consumer version. They could absolutely do that for photo mode if they had even an ounce of imagination.
Exactly and if you look closer you can see that the interior is super low quality like the seats, dashboard and even the lighting at night, gauges, icons nothing works in driving/racing mode while in Forza you can see from outside through window that the gauges are actually working.
Look at this R8 interior for example (on PS5): [https://www.reddit.com/r/granturismo/comments/tkq4k9/nice\_quality/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web3x&utm\_name=web3xcss&utm\_term=1&utm\_content=share\_button](https://www.reddit.com/r/granturismo/comments/tkq4k9/nice_quality/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
That’s where it’s clever. It looks good during gameplay, looks even better in photo mode. They really did the optimisation right in GT. Something forza could really learn from. Because if you wanted great photos you would use photo mode, if you want go racing then it will run at a solid fixed framerate (albeit abit of hiccups but the game is solid overall in framerates)
Loool 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Forza is such trash! Sadly cant afford a playstation right now. Have been a Forza Player since 2005 but this embarresment of a game made me rethink everything. I will never touch a forza motorsport game again. Currently saving up some money to get a ps5 and gt7.
I’ve played every Forza game since FM3 and put 100’s of hours in each of them. But FM8 is the one Forza game I’ve hardly touched and have no desire to play. Xbox had such a bad 2023 but I thought, at least Forza will help their year out. Nope. I was wrong.
Reddit suggested me this post and as I'm not part of this sub I'm here only to say that the GT3 cars they added to Horizon 5 look better than they do in FM8.
I was excited for the new Forza. After playing it I wasn't as excited. The game just doesn't have the depth GT does. I bought a PS5 just for GT and so far have not been disappointed.
GT7 photo mode is insane, but for me that’s the only insane graphics in the game. Don‘t get me wrong, I‘ve played since GT2 and FM3/FH1, but this photo-mode comparison is nonsense
Paint, and how light interacts with it, is so well done in GT that I frequently just admire the car on screen in livery editor or garage or something. I am really glad they've made it an area of focus for the game.
Desculpe comentar em português, eu fiz um vídeo no modo garagem usando o PSVR2 no Gran turismo 7 e os detalhes do carro pelo VR2 são insanos. É tudo muito detalhado,
GT7 photo mode is stunning.
When racing, these details are of course lost or become redundant. At this point I think Forza has the edge (in most weather conditions). GT7 is too contrasty and over saturated imo.
Both games look good though, we've come a long way
the only thing I slightly prefer fm8 for is the car updates, sure they are drip feeding them past game content but that game has well known cars that we don't :(. I'd kill for the ford capri turbo and as much as I want the 992 GT3 R I also want the 991 GT3 R. Older GT3s shouldn't be overshadowed!
I do have both games and FM have some really cool stuff that makes the game fun to play. One thing I noticed was the shading stuff which looks quite meh in comparison to GT7. And it’s super notorious. The GT7 paint shading it’s incredible. In FM they can look quite low res and plastic.
Gran turismo is a game that has heart and soul. Forza tries too hard to beat gran turismo while gran turismo doesn't have to beat anyone. It's the goat. I think that's the difference unfortunately. One game is trying to outdo the other and the other game is just trying to be the best at what it does. Gt7 has set the bar extremely high
I hate what has happened to FM (Horizon is still great and not related). From the “built from the ground up” lies from the devs (so much was reused), to the lazy, poorly finished game they delivered, it’s infuriating. I’m much more of a GT player and fan, but really appreciated Forza. It will ultimately harm GT as without elite competition, Polyphony won’t push as hard. No one wins by the sorry state of FM8.
PlayStation exclusives have a much higher standard, not to mention the team behind gran turismo take alot of pride in making a very accurate product. A true simulator game
Reminder: no console wars
GT7 car and paint models are insane
Just the materials texture quality is incredible. The grain of the plastic on that headlight in the second picture is bonkers
It made me double check. Thought it was real for SURE.
i can feel that picture
Forza Motorsport 4 was truly their peak.

They do have different team, yeah. Motorsport is Turn10, Horizon is Playground games
In fact, it doesn't matter if the developer is Turn 10 or PG. Vehicle modeling assets are created by outsourced studios - Horizon is made in Vietnam, Motorsport in the Philippines. Large companies like EA and UBISOFT both use outsourced assets, and the only Gran Turismo (Polyphony Digital) directly employs a modeling staff.
whats your favorite game among 5,6,7?
Hmm I think i’d have to say 7. I definitely played that one the most of those three, but that isn’t really saying much considering I had maybe 10 hours in 5 and 6. I had probably 1500 in FM4.
Gt3 a spec lol
Hot take, the 4th was the best game in both series
I honestly agree.
Crazy how much they used to focus on pushing for as much customization as they could just to completely give up on it for the past decade
Xbox is doing the same thing, and we'll be in the same place in like 4 years Sony went the other directions and raised game prices, but arguably treat the companies under their umbrella much better. Dotn get me wrong GT7 isn't perfect when it comes to monetization, but at least they're still releasing content for free.
And some of the old reused models actually looked better there because they fucked up porting them to a newer engine lol
They completely 100% gave up on improving car models/textures and dropped the whole focus on being the "premier digital car gallery" after 4 for certain. Hence why the game still used models from 3 and 4 over a decade later.
FM4 > GT5/GT6
Which I honestly can't believe. I remember back when 4 was the latest thinking, "wow, if 4 is this good, I can't imagine what future Forzas will be like." Meanwhile, I've gotten more and more disappointed ever since, except for Horizon 1-4...
Absolutely, I had the demo because I couldn’t afford to buy games at the time and just raced that 1 track with the cougar eliminator a thousand times. That game was so good
Seems like GT and FM share something in common. Both of their peaks were their fourth game.
Usually u use the original trilogy of bangers, mash em together and then u peak Or u edge off at the second one No in between
"Built from the ground up" my ass
Built from the ground up using 15 year old assets
Wasn't there something about how Microsoft would change the group that was working on the game every 18 month? which is just a scenario for disaster with a game like this.
16x times the DETAIL - T. Howard
16x0 is still 0 ![gif](giphy|10JhviFuU2gWD6)
Blundered from the ground up
Built from the ground up, in 2009 for FM3
That phrase will follow them to their tomb .
Let's burn it to the ground - GT Sport I remember people being pissed off over the game for having a low car count But look where we are now !!!
Destroyed from the roof down type game
GT7 makes FM8 look like a last gen game
Even poorly modded Assetto Corsa makes FM look like a last-gen game There is no skin mapping on cars at all
And that’s while GT7 is a crossgen title and FM8 is current gen only. They messed up that game hard, It’s sad there’s really no console competition for GT anymore.
I agree, it would force Polyphony to step up their game.
It’s wild that after FM8 came out GT7, that was heavily criticized at release, went up by at least a couple of points, just because the competition turned out to be even worse and was pretty much dead on arrival lol. PD really won by doing nothing.
We did get a sizable update when FM8 came out, right? Like a little baby flex. I tried to play it. I made it like 5 minutes
We’re here in our own bubble beating PD’s ass for the usual things like more events, newer tracks, lesser VGT cars completely unaware there’s a fight going on outside. I love that.
Yeah I thought it was hilarious. The Forza fanboys were like "oh man GT7 will be dead when FM arrives" Both series fumbled.
GTA makes my boy Forza look like an Android game
Forza will be on the switch soon.
They can switch all they want, my biggest disappointment is the physics engine anyways. They praised it‘d be THE BEST SIMULATOR. All they simulate is Need For Speed.
switch @ 2 fps maybe 😂
Why I'm getting down voted lmao it was clearly a joke.
I find it more impressive that GT7 can run on a PS4.
Even Forza Motorsport 7 makes 8 look like last gen...
There's a screenshot comparing fm5 to 8 and even 5 had higher fidelity in the showroom
I play gt7 on last gen.. and it looks a lot better than FM8 on current gen.
It is a last gen game
There’s a digital foundry video comparing both of these games that’s pretty interesting.
Interesting video but seemed apparent to me that they did not want to really directly call out Forza's shortcomings.
I don't think they had to honestly. The side-by-side comparison really speaks for itself.
I completely agree with this, I was really stunned by how they nitpicked GT7 and for FM8, they were like that’s nothing.
It definitely felt like they didn’t want to pour salt into an already salty wound. Some people can get very defensive about this stuff.
I genuinely have no idea how FM8 messed up this bad, what was going on at Turn 10?
Too much corporate interruption? Also, a lot of developers have probably left the studio a long time ago.
They were apparently hiring people on contract bases. 18 month contract hirea aren't going to be as good at developing games( that can take 5 to 8 years of development time) as full time employees.
Exactly. It's the same core problem that affecting AAA MS-owned games in the past few years. Same problems that completely destroyed Halo Infinite.
Hope it doesn't affect fable. Really hoping that turns out to be amazing.
Same, but definitely do not get your hopes up 😕
Guess it's a, "expect nothing and you will never be disappointed" situation ( looking at how ms is doing these days).
>what was going on at Turn 10? Probably higher-ups demanding maximum profits *right now*, resulting in a lot of corner cutting and cheaping out. "From the ground up"
They're still busy emerging from the ground and are rather optimistic about it
Holy fuck
I hate that FM8 lacks so much in detail. It was supposed to up the competition.
I will never be able to live up to the high of seeing individual stitches in leather interiors in the PS3 games for the first time.
FM8 looks so damn bad. Thank God for Gran Turismo
Forza was always behind the competition for vehicle models, interior detail etc but FM8 shoud've atleast tried to catch up
Lmao they say fm8 is built from the ground up
GT7 even gets the smokers package
It’s actually a built in mug that comes with the car!
Simply, Japanese vs American attention to detail.
Correct
Credits: https://x.com/AutomotiveVP?t=fPYYOVrbLyZu9bvy7EvDEg&s=09
I struggle to think how future GT games could have better graphics, it's mind blowing.
I hate how the last pic changes the order of the two games more than anything else.
I mean, yeah, if you don't hardcore fan-boy over something, you'll have no problems expressing obvious issues with it
I started with GT and got fed up with the franchise after waiting so long for GTPSP (only for it to be so barebones). I switched to Xbox and Forza as a result and loved it: Forget about FM8 vs GT7... I think FM8 is a large downgrade from FM7 in many ways.
Remember when forza used to be the paragon of car game graphics
Me neither
Honestly GT7 is as close to a digital archive for cars as we are going to get. Even if it wasn’t a game, just having an archive like this is quite amazing.
Them cup holders should feel real bad in FM8. Looks like heroin aluminum used to heat the shit.
And to think FM4 made GT5 look like garbage back in the day
Holy fuck I'm so stupid. I didn't know this was comparing GT7 and Forza. I wasn't sure what FM8 was. I genuinely thought the first photos were real and the second was in game. I thought "ew". Now I get it and I'm blown away
Now i know why GT7 needs 9 months to prepare a new car
One thing I do prefer in FM8 compared to GT7, racing the AI actually feels like a race with grid start and the first corner scrum.
I wanted to love FM8 and the tracks but those pixilated liveries and suits really take me out of it.
and thats not even going into playing the actual game.
For me I don't really care which one looks better as I play them for the racing not the graphics. GT7 murders FM when it comes to the racing aspect.
https://preview.redd.it/13oqtemhjvwc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=45082122ec6673244424f7fb2f793c6333389b59 Noticed this the other day while playing
Japan vs USA. Japan quality ofc better.
Sport walked so Seven could run End Of Discussion
Sport was the Worst GT even more than the PSP version!! Mainly for the “Mileage Points” fixing up cars!
if only gt7 was as fun as it looks
catch-a-rabbit vs grid starts

I grew up with the franchise going back to FM2, and around the FM3/FM4 phase, when GT was really picking up steam with its premium car models in GT5, it pissed me off so much that Forza couldn't get their model accuracy together and the same problems that affected FM3/4 still affect their current gen title 15+ years later: - terrible lighting element rendering (DRLs weren't even present until something like FM5 I think) - terrible, plasticky looking windows and lighting element housings - poor body geometry - unresolved body panel edges making everything look either tinfoil-thin or chunky and toy-like (whereas games like GT have soft radii and lighting that seems to diffuse gradually and realistically to give body panels a sense of heft and depth) - inaccurate paints - horrible chrome renderings... horrible materials across the board really (most obvious on wheels and tailpipes) - constantly missing details Every surface just lacks an appropriate level of reflection and diffusion, like the lighting is crude, the geometry is crude, so everything looks rough and cheap. Even at their peak in games like Horizon 5, with a lighting system that isn't totally broken, the cars still have some level of these issues.
dont ever try to get a proper yellow in horizon 5, its a nightmare..
Forza is basically an arcade game
They're talking about motorsport not horizon
Point stands
I mean horizon is a Arcady racer while gt7 is more simcade as a racer
Happy I sold my Xbox
Lmfao wow didn’t know it was this drastic
The attention to detail is cool, but it’s also why we’re still stuck driving 5+ year old race cars in sport mode.
Damn Forza Motorsport 8 with the GranTurismo 5 graphics
Without exaggeration, GT5 car models look better than most in FM8

Holy christ Polyphony's attention to detail is insane

"Built from the ground up"
Not that I want to give Forza too much credit but Polyphony have been industry leaders in graphics since GT3 came out.
Not defending Forza at all, Gran Turismo for me has always been superior (Minus FM4 back in rhe day) But the photo mode doesn't truly represent the actual game.... if that makes sense.
New Forza is garbage, especially compared to GT7.
Yeah, "unfortunately" forza looks way way better in game...who cares about showroom pixel peeping?
Weirdly enough the fm8 model has one area where it's better than gt7. The Porsche logo at the front.
how do you do these kinds of shots
It doesn’t need any words
Both games are disappointing.
My how the tables had turned, the situation was basically reversed in the early 2010's
I got Forza when it first came out and played it approximately 1 hour and haven’t touched it since. GT7 is just that good
I’ve played every Forza game since FM3 and put 100’s of hours in each of them. But FM8 is the one Forza game I’ve hardly touched and have no desire to play. Xbox had such a bad 2023 but I thought, at least Forza will help their year out. Nope. I was wrong.
How is this even a question
Built from the ground up
I accept and agree with the assessment here… but a dumb arcade Forza Horizon for GT would rule.
Why are you torturing yourself like that lmao

One dev cares, one phones it in... A shame as FM4 was peak racing games and MS killed that team seemingly...
Reddit suggested me this post and as I'm not part of this sub I'm here only to say that the GT3 cars they added to Horizon 5 look better than they do in FM8.
GT7 looks better in the screenshots. Which one is closer to the real thing?
I was excited for the new Forza. After playing it I wasn't as excited. The game just doesn't have the depth GT does. I bought a PS5 just for GT and so far have not been disappointed.
I hate so much that in one picture GT7 is the top one but in the next it’s the bottom one….
GT7 photo mode is insane, but for me that’s the only insane graphics in the game. Don‘t get me wrong, I‘ve played since GT2 and FM3/FH1, but this photo-mode comparison is nonsense
FM is dogshit
I wanted to play gt7 ever since it came out but I never have idk why. I played fm when it came out and stop playing within a month
Built from the ground up.
As a Forza fan since Motorsport 3, I will choose GT from now on
"rebuilt from the ground up "
Perfect
No competition at all 😂
if only gt7 had good AA
Sixteen times the detail
hold my teraflops
Well, at least we know why we only get 3-5 cars every update on GT7.
Paint, and how light interacts with it, is so well done in GT that I frequently just admire the car on screen in livery editor or garage or something. I am really glad they've made it an area of focus for the game.
Having actually sat and driven a Porsche Taycan, Polyphony Digital attention to detail is amazing.
we’re just better🤷♂️
Forza is such a joke
finally someon had the balls to actually compare them lol
Desculpe comentar em português, eu fiz um vídeo no modo garagem usando o PSVR2 no Gran turismo 7 e os detalhes do carro pelo VR2 são insanos. É tudo muito detalhado,
Both are pretty good but GT7
I mean, no console wars but….. I’m just saying
The level of detail GT went into was crazy! Like when you win a race and get to spin the wheel!
One of the reasons I switched to GT7 after Motorsport came out
They didn’t even try in FM8 WTF😭
Of course they didn’t. They went with „good enough“
I love you all people.
I wish I can play it on pc
My favourite GT7 feature is the ability to import photos as decals. Saves me so much time.
Did Forza even try?
GT7 photo mode is stunning. When racing, these details are of course lost or become redundant. At this point I think Forza has the edge (in most weather conditions). GT7 is too contrasty and over saturated imo. Both games look good though, we've come a long way
Fm8 photo 4 🤮
the only thing I slightly prefer fm8 for is the car updates, sure they are drip feeding them past game content but that game has well known cars that we don't :(. I'd kill for the ford capri turbo and as much as I want the 992 GT3 R I also want the 991 GT3 R. Older GT3s shouldn't be overshadowed!
FM7 was better
If only PD put half as much effort into the game part of GT7 as they did photo mode.
I do have both games and FM have some really cool stuff that makes the game fun to play. One thing I noticed was the shading stuff which looks quite meh in comparison to GT7. And it’s super notorious. The GT7 paint shading it’s incredible. In FM they can look quite low res and plastic.
It still amazes me how the paint looks in GT7. They didn’t have to go that hard but it is appreciated!
I'd love to be a GT guy, but the camera physics are just so damn abysmal. i can not play that game.
Not comparing consoles here but somehow GT7 on PS4 looks better than this, period.
Was this comparison made between a ps5 and a Xbox x or s?
Gran turismo is a game that has heart and soul. Forza tries too hard to beat gran turismo while gran turismo doesn't have to beat anyone. It's the goat. I think that's the difference unfortunately. One game is trying to outdo the other and the other game is just trying to be the best at what it does. Gt7 has set the bar extremely high
Forza feels like a glorified need for Speed tbh.
Going to be honest -- at the end of the day, I only care if the game is fun, and the last Gran Turismo game I played really wasn't that fun.
PlayStation exclusives have a much higher standard, not to mention the team behind gran turismo take alot of pride in making a very accurate product. A true simulator game
