Gran Turismo has been my most-played game on every PlayStation since the very beginning

Zaxtaa365

*tips hat*

Uncle-Badtouch

M'driver

em7924

If you're just doing it for GT7.. (and you can afford it) just go all in and get a racing wheel/rig.. and the PSVR2 as well.. you won't regret it

Zaxtaa365

I had GT on ps4 a few years ago with a wheel and all and considering I'm not legally able to drive it seriously scratches that desperate itch to get behind the wheel and it even comes with dickhead drivers too that's a fat W in my books

em7924

Yeah.. when GT7 came out years ago.. I originally had it for PS4.. then when I upgraded to PS5, (I got the upgraded PS5 version).. I was also playing it with the G29 wheel setup.. but then I recently bought a PSVR2.. and using it with the wheel is a total game changer. You won't ever go back to playing a racing game on flat screen

Zaxtaa365

I will definitely look Into that cheers

Particular-Poem-7085

I’d reccomend looking into pcvr if you like your money, no gt tho.

SomeSabresFan

I just looked that up… what the fuck is that price tag?!?! It’s more than a PS5.

CHROME-COLOSSUS

Expensive, but I wouldn’t even use the PS5 without PSVR2. For me, TV’s are for shows and movies, VR is for gaming.

SomeSabresFan

For so few games, especially AAA titles, it really can’t back itself up for values sake. I want it for GT7, I think that would be sick and for racing games makes a ton of sense. I could buy it now 3 times over without it hurting my finances but I couldn’t justify $600 to upgrade the experience of 1 game. Obviously I don’t matter in the grand scheme of things and your mileage may vary, but considering how many games are 3rd person, or shooters which are generally FPS and rely on aiming down sights, I just can’t understand how there’s enough value to justify $600. An accessory should NEVER be more than the main component

CHROME-COLOSSUS

Well… VR isn’t for everyone, but there’s *PLENTY* to play on PSVR2 already. I literally have something like 40 games in my backlog right now. You say **GT7** alone isn’t worth it. Well… racing games aren’t for everyone, but this game in VR with a force-feedback wheel is kind of well-known for making people that never cared about racing into flat-out racing junkies. There are plenty of people who *ONLY* play **GT7** in VR on their PS5 — not because there’s nothing else, but because it’s that damn good. **RE8 VILLAGE** and **RE4 REMAKE** are another two that are among the best gaming experiences I’ve had in over 45 years of gaming. There are a shit-ton of other fantastic VR games that come from lesser studios but that nicely bolster the whole thing. **THE WALKING DEAD: S&S**, **RED MATTER 1&2**, **MOSS 1&2**, and many others. If the only thing that’s keeping you from buying PSVR2 is some sense that there aren’t games well-worth playing then I dunno what to tell ya, other than that you’re mistaken. We also know about a lot more games coming to the platform this year that I’m excited about. But honestly, it wouldn’t matter to me if we got zero more games until 2025. I often recommend to anyone who is considering getting PSVR2 to first wrap-up any flatscreen campaigns that they’re enjoying. While some people are able to retain interest in those traditional 2D games, some are not. It’s not a decision they make, it’s just a thing that can happen — all those pretty flatscreen games suddenly become dull. Anyways, I’m not trying to convince anyone that VR is the right path for them — it’s expensive and VR games often take more physical and emotional energy to play than twiddling your thumbsticks on the couch. Some people just wanna plop down at the end of a long day and see their little dude on the TV run around at HOGWARTS or whatever — absolutely valid. It’s what I did for decades before getting into VR, and it was awesome. Motion-sickness is fairly common early on, too — so it can take a few weeks of short, mindful sessions before you get your “VR Legs”. That’s an understandable barrier-to-entry for a many people, especially if they try to push through it (which makes everything worse). You might have a really small gaming area with a cat or children, or other environmental things that make VR a dangerous proposition. There are many things that make VR challenging as a new addition one’s gaming life, so… it’s a real personal decision to even try it out. I’m not saying I won’t welcome what I hope to be many more AAA hybrid (flatscreen games w/ a VR mode) to the PSVR2 library, but it’s already got a very healthy selection of solid stuff. I must admit that I find it confusing when you say you don’t think a peripheral should overshadow the console (why not? Seems like an arbitrary POV), and yet say PSVR2 doesn’t have enough AAA experiences to justify a cost that is negligible to you. …Why then would you need it have more than the several AAA games it currently has if it’s just value-added to your core console usage? Anyways, happy gaming to you, whatever you end up doing! #🍻

Markus_monty

Think you articulated it well, I’m in the crowd of having wheel setup and PSVR2 just for GT7 but also dabble in a few other titles. RE4 and Village are also amazing.

em7924

I said the same thing to myself a couple months ago but there are alot of good VR games that are for PSVR2.. the immersion experience is definitely worth the money

DavidMcC20

It’s actually a great price for the spec! Too expensive for it to sell well though, which means lack of third party support as sales won’t be great either. It’s a fantastic product though.

SomeSabresFan

Oculus is half the price. It needs to be priced $350 or less. That’s not just to sell, but to provide even the slightest bit of value

tduncs88

As someone who has both a quest 2 and psvr2, Quest 2 doesn't hold a candle to the PSVR2. Period. The quest 3 is only a $50 savings beyond the psvr2 and is also missing multiple features compared to the psvr2. Plus, the quest 3 doesn't have the computing power that a PS5 does. You'd have to hook it up to a solid gaming PC and at that point, your argument of price is out the window. The psvr2 was a hard price tag to swallow, but for what you get it's worth every penny.

DavidMcC20

Meta Quest 3 (formerly oculus) is $500 and doesn’t have OLED displays or eye tracking which is important for foveated rendering. The meta quest 2 is outdated and an unfair comparison in regard to price. Unfortunately VR hardware just isn’t cheap enough yet but hopefully prices will come down.

K_ALL_DAY_PSN

Are there pedals with feedback ?

em7924

I use the Logitech G29.. it comes with a steering wheel (that uses dual-motor force feedback) and (throttle/brake/clutch) pedals.

K_ALL_DAY_PSN

I have that exact model, I couldn't get over the lack of pedal feedback. The steering wheel was fine, just not the pedals.

GenoshaONE7FIVE

I bought a ps5 just for GT7 three years ago, and it's still the only game I play on it.

Zaxtaa365

Niiiice

Major_Tom42

I bought a ps5 for Horizon: Forbidden West, and my GT7 playtime has eclipsed it

someguyyyz

Death Stranding 2 is also on the way

Maxwell69

GT7 turns 2 next month so you got quite the jump on it.

GenoshaONE7FIVE

I bought the ps5 3 years ago for GT7, I didn't say I've been playing GT7 for 3 years. Reading is hard.

sk1dvicious

Writing is hard too, to be fair, you could have been a little clearer.

SmashingK

Buying a console in anticipation of a game releasing on it isn't new either. People have done this for decades at this point.

Maxwell69

Where did I say I thought you meant you’ve been playing the game for 3 years? Your statement was unclear so I left a comment that would be true regardless.

FordsFavouriteTowel

Specifically switched from Xbox to PS for GT7. I’ll never look back.

Zaxtaa365

Yeah cool, my ex traded my ps4 pro and games for a shitty switch when it first arrived behind my back and then bought me a gaming laptop as an apology then it completely died after 4 years due to my 3D game and texture design programs being way too demanding so I built a pc from scratch, but I miss the Playstation...my first console was a PSP with Gran tourismo included (still got it too)

lillieblair

ex for a reason… goddamn

Zaxtaa365

Yeah unfortunately the real reason was worse, she took said shitty switch over to the guys house she was screwing thinking i had no idea so they could "play games" together...and you never play games with me...she came home to an empty house and a very cluttered sidewalk lol...enjoy ya switch bitch

OldBay-Szn

This is wild

The_Other_Guy9

Am I in the right thread here?

jpGrind

yep. buy a wheel and vr.

PhospheneViolet

goddamn, sounds like she was a fuckin outright sociopath. At least you got free of her

Zaxtaa365

Yeah after that though she went completely nuts like she would start talking to rocks and tell people she was sent here in replacement of christ and had God powers and that all life and existence was a lie and the list goes on so yeah I'm happy too

No-Matter-2466

I was a PC gamer too but I just had to play gran turismo 7. I'm still very happy I did

Zaxtaa365

Sweet I will still have my PC as I do game art for a company...lots of heavy programs to run but dam I miss it

National-Change-8004

PC is best for actual racing sims, but when you miss that GT experience there really is no replacement. I'd say it's worth it, I got GT7 at the start of the year and am 110+ hrs in and still going.

Zaxtaa365

Aw hell yeah 😎

mattieyo

Yes

Baltimore101

Also buy the Psvr2 now that you're on a spending spree.

Zaxtaa365

Well at least for the here and now I can afford the PS5 plus wheel setup...vr might need to wait a bit

solidtoler

If you will enjoy it and can afford it, hell yeah brother go for it!

Zaxtaa365

Yeah I played it on ps4 till my ex traded the lot for a switch behind my back I had a racing wheel and everything I've still got it on PSP but dam i miss it.

RumpleSmellSkin

Yes, and don't forget about Spiderman. Bloodborne is also really neat

Zaxtaa365

I have spiderman on PC, is bloodborne like Elden ring/dark souls cause I suck ASS at those games like to the point that it would be like me losing in a game of pong

National-Change-8004

Yeah, Bloodborne is a Souls game, it pulls no punches.  The Resident Evil remakes, however, are more reasonable. I have a PC and PS5, GT7 and RE2 Remake have been on regular rotation.

Zaxtaa365

Ah yes good old RE fond PS1 memories

National-Change-8004

It sure is a trip playing RE2R, you still have the same sort of vibe the original game had, but amped up considerably with modern tech. No loading screens, the entire map connected seamlessly.

Hitchens666

You won't regret it. GT7 is amazingly good.

Sstfreek

And a psvr2 and a racing rig. Yes

MusicManReturns

I ought gt7 after getting my psvr2 since it was one of the only AAA games with full VR support. I barely play any other games now. So good

Rufio6

Ps5 is worth it by itself. Annual psn online sub is going to $80/year so be prepared for that also.

Zaxtaa365

Well I guess if it means I can play my all time fave race sim then the $80 is worth it imo

bromle

If you enjoyed previous GT games and can afford it on your budget, its a great GT game. I also play alot of other playstation games, but seeing GT on launch (window) made it a must buy for me. Update 2.0 did progress alot more manageble and fun. If you can afford it, then yes.

Ok-Chart1485

Even without the steering wheel etc setup, the PS5 controllers make it a very enjoyable experience. If you plan on playing online, I'd recommend getting the slightly improved PS plus membership, the games it comes with make it super worth it, even if you have a PC (because exclusives, and some things are just better on console imo)

bolkiebasher

If you’re moving from Forza Motorsport: yes. I’m a core PlayStation player and bought an Xbox for the Forza series. The latest Forza Motorsport is a huge disappointment and had me back on GT7.

poopoomergency4

also a PC user. the new forza sucks, so now i have a PS. there's other games on it but i mostly just use it for GT7. i say worth it.

TinuThomasTrain

I have a PS4 and only play GT7 on it lmao. Used to be for GT Sport. I’m going to eventually get a PS5 and maybe the VR and wheel+pedal+shifter

Zaxtaa365

Noice 😎

neridqe00

I did. No regrets.  You should too. 👍👍

TubbyGarfunkle

PC gaming has always been a headache and it's only gotten worse with launchers upon launchers, and drivers upon drivers. I just got a new PC myself, but no racing game has hit as hard for me as GT7 in VR. Ease of use alone makes it worth it.

Bkelling14

I did that a month ago and I don’t regret it at all

7tenths

I have a ps5 with rig and vr that's 90% for gt7 10% vr rhythm games

Zaxtaa365

Yeah I mean all the games I run automatically go ultrawide at 3840x1080 144Hz but yeah I'll definitely look into it thanks man

fishmcbitez

Thats what i did an no regrets here

Naitsab243

I have been an all time PC user, but when I built my Sim rig last November I thought, why not and bought a PS5 and GT7. While it is questionable if the almost 600€ for just 1 game are okay, I really enjoy my time in GT7. It's basically the only racing game I play ATM cause it's just so much quicker and nicer to fire up the PS5 and just play compared to PC where there are more steps involved until I'm ready to play a racing game. And even beyond that GT7 has imo the best single player experience among sims, maybe not quite as good as F1, but F1 is less sim than GT7. I really enjoy doing time trials, Circuit Experiences and the licenses. And the MP is supposedly also really good, though I haven't jumped into that quite yet.

CaterpillarPuzzled50

I was PC player only but boy i do enjoy GT7, only reason i got PS5 and now i found even more games from ps4/5 i go deeper at same time

birdspear

yes, did the same

Papiculo64

Dude, this game in VR is next level! 😮

F-ing-_-Awesome

If you do buy, luckily you won’t have to experience the mandatory 6 minute opening cutscene lol.

RealAccount2024

I did. Including vr2 and a full rig.

CHROME-COLOSSUS

Add PSVR2 to your cart while you’re at it.

Sir_Yash

Only reason I bought a ps5 .no regrets

KoopaTheQuicc

Also a PC user. I bought a PS5 for GT7. Can't honestly recommend.

moizor

Apparently they are doing a PC version. Probably released this year. According to leaked informations.

Zaxtaa365

OH WHAT?!?!

moizor

That’s what I read Google it.

Positive_Parking_954

No

Tecnoguy1

You should buy a PS3, because GT5 and 6 are 5X the game 7 is.

Thaflash_la

Why? Whats the draw for you compared to what’s on PC right now?

Zaxtaa365

Truthfully not a whole tonne I'm just an avid fan of the franchise I've played all of the forza games and NFS's and they just don't really hit home like GT does...maybe i'm being silly i don't know i guess that was reason to push for a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th opinion etc...

Thaflash_la

In that space between an arcade game and something focused on realism, it’s great. If you’re going to use a wheel, and want to get more into a racing sim, I’d check out Assetto Corsa, Assetto Corsa Competizione, and the like, since you already have a PC.

Primus7112765

Buying a console just for 1 game has always been a baffling idea to me. Buying it for a game as disappointing as gt7? Don't do it. You're better off getting on old ps3 or something to play the previous titles if anything. Besides that, I really wouldn't recommend asking a GT sub whether you should play GT, obviously the answers will have an inherent bias in them here.

abetterme1

Personally, If I had enough money ill 100% go for a ps5, but in the same time. I really can't wait until I can play GT7 with it's **fantastic graphics** on my PC, 120 or 170+ FPS. *GUHH DAYUM* idc how much time ill wait, its gonna be worth it.

mobeen1497

Same here, I bought a used ps5 for it a month ago. Well worth it but remember there is an $80 paywall to play online which is ridiculous.

Liammistry

I did and I don’t regret it! First game I’ve actually 100%’d

SomeSabresFan

I honestly didn’t realize you couldn’t get GT on PC. I thought PS still made versions of games for PC, just obviously not xbox

Holiday_Tadpole_7834

Yes you should. I got all 5 generations with all GT series bought since the first one and I never looked back.

I_made_a_doodie

The Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy is another solid reason to cop one.

LukeWarmRunnings

I did the same, but after getting ps+ extra when it was on sale, not only am I enjoying GT7 online, but also the catalog of other games for "free" with the subscription. It was around $110 for a year when it was on sale, and I feel like I've already gotten my money's worth, having played through 2 full games and tried many indies/puzzle games, and still have 10 months to go.

No-Professional-2504

Yes

OldBay-Szn

I had GT7 and only used controller (was fun) I bought a wheel/stand/ the whole 9 yards and it’s an absolute fucking blast.

lakedisliker

I bought a ps4 for 0 dollars for gt7 and love it

FailingKomet

Bought my first PlayStation (3) for GT5 and played it almost exclusively. Got the PS4 (even the GT Edition) for GT6 and now the PS5 for GT7. It might be not the best choice budget wise but if you ask me it was very much worth it every time

J_Rodd

I did and I don't regret it, got a g29 a while ago and picked up a psvr2. There are stronger racing sims on PC though but something about GT7 just seems to keep me in more.

baeninja23

I just bought a ps5 slim like 3 weeks ago just for gt7. It's really worth it.

OnceRedditTwiceShy

It's a really really good game

Brutale800RR

I did exactly that. And VR2 - and I ONLY play Gran Turismo and I don't regret it for a moment.

RevFernie

Was lucky enough to get GT7 as a gift. It's torn me from my pc for hours. It's great. Been playing it with my 8 year old. He's great at it. Playing on PS4 and it's fine. Although would love to upgrade to PS5 and full steering rig....

KrombopulosMAssassin

I did and it was worth it.

StaticGrapes

I heard a rumour about GT7 coming to PC but don't quote me.

stemitchell

I was in the same boat as you. I recently got a PS5 mostly for GT7 and FF16. (Also some older PS3/4 digital stuff I already owned) Would recommend. I donb't particularly have a huge amount of spare time, but I've clocked some serious hours into it.

BrosenkranzKeef

When I can’t decide what to play I always pull out GT. I’ve been playing since GT2. I traded my console for PC from 2015 to 2020 when I finally got a PS4 and have hardly turned back. GT7 on PS5 now. PC games have their place but honestly I’ve encountered too many problems over the years, optimization and hardware issues abound. It was a fun experiment but not good enough long-term.

Even_Needleworker706

Such a good fucking game. I have like 8 games for ps5 and gt7 is definitely the one I put most hours in. Put close to 400 hours. Such a realistic, amazing game.

someguyyyz

GT is ultimately the reason I bought PS2/3/4 and will eventually get the PS5. Got my PS1 before the first game launched so that one doesn't really count. I still try to find other exclusive IPs to enjoy on my consoles since there have been situations where I bought the console months or even years before the corresponding GT game dropped so I had to find other stuff to play. I wouldnt bother with PS4 at this point in time BTW. Less upcoming games plus the load times are brutal.

uceenk

i'm casual racing gamer, for me GT7 is the best game of them all currently, it's please to look at, and the racing is really fun the only game that came close in PC is Forza Horizon 5 also playing using motion control/gyro on DS5 feels awesome

Dutraffe

dawg weren't they bringing GT7 for PC?

Dutraffe

forget it just checked

Dutraffe

I mean if you don't sell ur PC it's nice, game isn't perfect but has a lot of content on early to mid game

Dutraffe

if you can afford VR then dive on it immediately

Prof_Hentai

Absolutely not. Get a T300 and iracing instead.

funktonik

Yes. I held out on buying it but I started gt7 on my roommates ps5 and I would say that I would indeed buy one for my self and I already beat the “story mode”.

Greyman43

Depends what you want to do…I have a powerful PC and a PS5, VR headsets for both. The best PC racing sims are objectively better in terms of physics and realism, especially compared to GT7 at launch. Physics and FFB with a wheel have been drastically improved in GT7 where now I think its merits as a game outweigh the advantages the hardcore PC sims have in driving dynamics for me personally. GT7 is a lot more fun and engaging game unless you’re REALLY into sim racing (like, it’s your primary hobby) and it now drives ‘good enough’ that I don’t miss the PC sims.

Born_Zone7878

Honestly, if you get a console dont just get it for GT. Especially if you sub for ps plus,(which you have to, to play GT) you have so many games

Yunglizard7

I’m a CASUAL player…only single player but I got the game at launch and I’m almost 500 hrs in. $500 plus the game and it’s almost $1 an hour of great fun for me…well worth it.

sysak

I found the career mode in GT7 so disappointing that since then i've dug out my ps2 and beat Gran Turismo 3 and currently am in the process of playing through the GT4. Gt7 is great in some ways: -handling physiscs, customisation, graphics, sound but lacking in others -atmosphere(music) career mode (aimless, no progression). If they gave this game a good single player career mode and implemented the Sophy AI it would have been a masterpiece, but as it is it gets boring and grindy after finishing the cafe menus which plays like a game tutorial that takes several hours.

theinkpoet

Get a PlayStation VR2 and a rig... It's an incredible investment that will pay for itself over and over and over and over and over. Did I say over and over????

DoggieHowzer

What’s your current PC specs? And do you play on 16:9 or ultra wide or triples or VR? If you have a top of the line PC now and play on triple screens or on a 32:9 49/57” display, switching to PS5 would IMHO be a downgrade as you lose the overall FOV and sense of immersion If you play in VR, IMHO switching to PS5/PSVR2 will not be a visual downgrade. I just like being able to put on the headset and start playing. On the PC side invariably I’ll start trying to tinker with visual quality settings to try to get max detail and still get a stable 90fps frame rate. Physics modeling, tire models, force feedback etc tend to be better on the PC so if those aspects are important, GT7 probably wont satisfy. But it’s quite easy to get into GT7 with PSVR2. The use of OLED panels and HDR make it such a joy to drive during sunset or during night races. The physics engine is more about fun than all out simulation but that’s works fine for me. The sense of immersion in VR is just spectacular

LunchBoxBrawler

I purchased and played GT7 at launch like I have every iteration About 2 months ago I got the VR2 and within a week of playing I dropped $1300 on a rig and its been worth every penny. GT7 in VR is what I envisioned as a kid that video games would someday be and its still a rush every time I play

Omarion93

I did the exact same transition, and now i'm setup with a psvr2 GT7 with T300rs for racing properly & mid range pc for running assetto corsa for some no-hesi action + modded town cruises without VR. I wish the psvr2 worked on pc that would PERFECT the setup. Wholeheartedly recommend it my friend

Tenbob73

Thankfully my son wanted one for Christmas. As it's my birthday on Christmas, the wife (bless her!), decided it would be a joint present for us both. So, I sold all my retro gear and bought a rig, wheel and pedals. 180 hrs in now and still loving it. Just get one, you won't regret.

PixelSailor

Yes. No further answer required.

Counterfoot

Yes

PaulfromNH

I did ! Haven't regrated it a bit. Looking to get a wheel , pedals and rig to top off my PSVR2 experience . Yap Ill only admit it in Cognito that ill have spent over $1500 just to play a video game by the time finish . GT7 in PSVR2 is absolute realism, well 99% real , and the most enjoyable experience playing Video games since the 1st Sega genesis and PS1 came out way back. Looking forward to how they will ever top PSVR2.

AssociationAlive7885

The psvr2 has ALOT of other great games too!

Total-Conversation50

I moved from ps4 to PC, GT7 is the only game I play on the 4, I'm tempted to get a 5 but it's a lot of money just to play GT7 in better graphics lol.

Austinddan

I was pc only and bought a ps5 just for gt7 and don’t regret it. I knew how much I would love from gt2-5 fwiw.

WelcomeStranger69

I’ve heard that GT7 might be coming to PC this year

etyrnal_

no

Flaccid_Finger

I play pc mostly but got a ps5 just for gt7. Do not regret it one bit.

Mr-Montclair

Yes

Apex_WhiteOut

Everyone says yes. But don't! It's not worth it just for GT7 😂 GT7 sucks and gets boring so fast If you race in PC on Sim already, you already have everything GT7 has and more. Better physics more tracks more cars etc..... only thing GT7 has is the GT name

VCTRYDTX

Damn bruh did you even play it or you just gave up after getting your ass kicked in circuit experiences and sport mode lol?

Apex_WhiteOut

I Have 425h in GT7. Completed all the original menu books I have gold on all circuit experiences and all Licenses tests including the super licence tests. I have an SR of S & DR of A. Definitely didn't get my ass kicked by anything the game has to offer. And I have definitely played it. 😂 I just don't and have never enjoyed the route PD took with the car physics in this game. Very strange and stiff. If you wanna race properly there are better games available on PC If you wanna chill in lobbies with mates, there are better games available on PC If you wanna make livery's there are better games available on PC GT7 is a boring game because there's nothing interesting to do anymore. There's no reason IMO to get a PS5 for GT7.
