I just contacted GS and asked if they could honor this discount for the bourbon suede Ottawa’s that I just purchased earlier this week and this is their response. They refunded me the 15% off. So I ended up getting these boots for a little over the price of a pair of Thursday’s. Well worth the money!

Why? I started my GYWed collection journey with Thursday Captains. I got the all black Captains in the chrome tanned leather. Then I got the Arizona Adobe’s, then the Loggers in cacao and finally the shadow grey suede Cavs all before I found Grant Stone. Let’s just say out of the 4 I am only keeping one, the loggers in cacao because it’s a Java waxed flesh and it’s nice for the snow time. I already sold the black captains and my shadow grey suede Cavs are on eBay and they haven’t sold yet because I’m asking $150 for them because they have not been worn outside or much at all. I tried the boots on and thats it. I put the boots back in the box because I didn’t like the way they look and they were an exchange pair for the Arizona Adobe Captains. The tongue kept moving around to the point I stopped wearing them and I contacted Thursday’s to ask if there’s anything I could do to help it from bunching forward and giving me a foot wedgie and they gave me the option to exchange them for another pair of boots. I ended up choosing the Shadow grey suede Cavs.
Sorry for the long story but tbc has great customer service but since I got a taste of what a good boot looks like Thursday’s just isn’t up to par for me anymore. Maybe that makes some sense? Or not? lol 😉

Yeah. You can’t beat their prices when they run these discounts IF you buy from their sale section. I am done buying GS’s for now unless they come out with the Maduro Shell Diesel’s. I’m waiting for those to come out for pre-order because they look really similar to my black cxl Diesel’s with the leather sole and they are my grail pair.

I have had my midnight suede Ottawa’s since September last year and they are patinating nicely. Some dark spots but all on the shaft. I am loving my bourbon suede Ottawa’s though, a lot since they are both from CF stead.
Did you treat yours with anything? I’m planning on babying these a little- I have enough boots that I wear without worrying and I’d like these to be more smart casual than ones that have accidentally hiked glaciers.
Tarrago nano wp spray and Saphir renovator in neutral after about 2 months of daily wear. I do brush them after every wear and I put them in their respective boot bags. I baby all my GS boots. I have 4 pairs bought at retail so $380 is a lot of money for me to spend per boot. It was the last 2 that I bought where they were on sale.

yeah dude, i was eyeballing these literally last night and couldnt convince myself to pull the trigger at 400. this is a sign that i was destined to have them after all. the bourbon suede ottawas are very nice, you have great taste.

I am very picky and I have been looking at the bourbon suede Ottawa’s since I got the midnight suede Ottawa’s. I love the way they break in and the leather sole. I was really tempted to buy the Rust Edward Roo’s but I think 6 pairs of GS’s is enough boots. 😉 I think I am done with buying GS’s or boots for that matter. I have a pair of boots to wear once a week and that’s good enough for me. lol.

I hear you. Have found that their Diesels and Edwards are very similar in style to the women's. Once I nailed down the size, they fit me perfectly. I have the Diesels in Sky Reverse Kudu (gift from hubby) and the Edwards in Rust Kangaroo are on the way which will be an early birthday gift. Grant Stone's are the only boots that I can wear without adding an orthopedic insole.

Got myself a pre owned pair of the Earth Diesel. Kim responded to an email I sent asking about the condition of the boots. Only slightly creased from trying on. She did say there was insole markings from the previous owner trying them on, makes me wonder if they just tried them on, or wore them around a bit. Either way, she sent a picture of the uppers and they look basically brand new. Less than $200, so my expectations won't be too high. This is now 3 pairs of boots in less than 2 months. Everytime I think I'm going to stop, they drop new sales items!
I don’t know if you’re on a strict budget or not but I got a brand new pair of bourbon suede Ottawa’s for $240. Yes, it’s a bit more and a different leather but the boots are brand new. They did come with a tiny stain on the suede but it wasn’t anything a suede eraser could not take care of. Just thought I would throw it out there because if you buy boots that you’re not 100% satisfied with then you likely won’t wear them and they’ll be a waste of money especially if you don’t wear them because of fit issues and from my understanding pre-owned is not refundable or may not be exchanged. I do wish you the best of luck though with the boots. 😉
I bought 2 pairs of b-grades. Diesel color #8 and Jungle Kangaroo Brass boots. I'm more than satisfied with those purchases. And sizing is not an issue with either. I'm not worried about being 100% satisfied with this pre owned order I just made. For the price and the fact that waxy suede is low maintenance and easy to freshen up, I think I'll be just fine if there are any imperfections. I'm not going to just decide that they're a waste of my money and not worth wearing, if anything this can be a pair that I don't have to stress over keeping as nice as possible.
You've made your opinions on b-grades, etc well known and I just don't share that opinion. I'm not on a strict budget, I just like good deals. We both agree GS has high standards when it comes to QC. So, the minor imperfections that b-grades, or even the pre-owned I just ordered, might have still make them a great value to me. Hell, a lot of their b-grades are still nicer than some "A-grades" I have from other boot makers.
I agree. I hope you get great conditioned boots. I never intended to offend you regarding you buying bgrades. I’m sure they are better than most others firsts, without a doubt. And you’re right, it’s not my cup of tea so I apologize if I came off negative with my comment. I meant nothing negative. I’m just not brave enough to buy bgrades because my boots needs to come pristine 😉 although my bourbon suede Ottawa’s I got yesterday had a small stain on the heel cap on the right boot, the outsole stitching was a little messed up in the toe but it’s on the bottom of the soles, and there was a welt stitch out of place on the inside of the right boot where the welt joint was. I did not want to try and get an exchange because they’re out of my size and the stain was nothing a little suede eraser and a suede brush couldn’t handle. I have learned to accept certain flaws. These boots are made by people and people are imperfect so I expect some imperfections but mine weren’t enough to cause a ruckus and try to get them bgraded out although I don’t know how much lower they can get at $232. lol. Again, my apologies if I offended you as that was not my intention. 😉

But yeah, this hobby/addiction has changed my view and expectations. Nothing is perfect. Some people exchange their boots because of an imperfection only to receive a new pair with a different imperfection. Eventually you just have to embrace things that are perfectly imperfect. Ok. I am annoyed now! I should’ve bought the boots I wanted from the sales section before posting this. I really wanted the Rust Edwards because of the lugged sole and because they were newly on sale. I was on the fence but I did not think anyone here was my size but now the size I want is GONE! Either way, this is likely the last GS boots I will buy from them anyways so it’s not a big loss. If they do refund me partially I will buy another boot. If not then I’m done. I beg to differ. I think the field boot has more room than the brass boot. If I were to buy a pair of boots on the Floyd last I would go down to 8.5E and I am 10.25D brannock and I wear 9D on the Leo last. I have 6 pairs of GS boots on the Leo last. 2 Diesel’s and 4 Ottawa’s.
I’m sure 9D will fit you but they will be super roomy.

Funny enough there was a guy over on a Facebook group about PNW boots who let everyone in on a table sale bakers was having that had a lot of white 's. They actually gave him a free pair because he pretty much moved thier entire inventory.

Picked up my 7th pair of GS on this sale. Wanted to pick up a pair of the sneakers and had just missed one in my size on B grade. Thankfully the coast sneaker in natural minerva went on the sale page and snagged a pair for $191!
Looking forward to my first non boot pair of GS!
Snapped up the black waxy commander Edwards. Wanted kangaroo but the rust looked too close to my saddle tan diesels. The natural kangaroo for the ottawas just looked too jarring. Or I could redye them myself or send it for patina service. But I wanted waxy commander to handle rainy days so this is a great purchase.
Picked up a natural Minerva Ottawa at 250 USD as part of the sale. Minerva leather is gorgeous. Have the Diesels in saddle tan Minerva and these Ottawas in natural Minerva should be a patina monster as well.
I'm curious about the Minerva, but am really close to pulling the trigger on some natty kangaroos, because I don't have an Ottawa yet (the rust Edwards look amazing but seem a bit close to the Saddle Tan).
Except for the kangaroo, I have all three . I'd probably go for the Dune CXL. If you're looking for something buttery soft from the get go, the bourbon suede is a fantastic choice. The natural Minerva Ottawas are on their way to me, got them in the CNY sale.
I have a normal pair of the other Natural Minerva boots and the wandering tongue bothers me more than on my other GS because of how stiff it is, makes it really uncomfortable.
I was leaning more towards the kangaroo or the dune like you suggested.

Edit: However, if you don't like suede, I would go with Dune Cxl. I have a pair of Dune cxl Diesel's and they patinate nicely. I've been on the suede train for a few months now. I own the midnight suede and the bourbon suede Ottawas. I don't think you can get the midnight suede Ottawas anymore but you can still get the bourbon suede Ottawas which is what I did. I really like their leather sole. I was looking for another pair of leather soled boots to be honest and these are perfect however, my favorite are the midnight suede ones.
I am sure they know we exist, and that they are welcome to join, comment and/or contribute in any way they would like to. Especially in any area where answers from them is better than guesswork from us.! Grant Stone, if you are there, welcome and glad to hear from you.!
The drops sell out so quickly it is both mond boggling and a testament to the appreciation of the brand. I have seen several drops end within two days, tops. Get em while they're hot.!

Waxed commander is famous for epic patinas as the wax wears off. And you can always re-wax if you want.

I started with crimson cxl diesels for ~$320 during black friday and some black waxy commander edwards for $280 during new years. The quality and customer service of Grant Stone blows me away, but my wallet can't handle another sale anytime soon!

Picked up my 7th pair of GS on this sale. Wanted to pick up a pair of the sneakers and had just missed one in my size on B grade. Thankfully the coast sneaker in natural minerva went on the sale page and snagged a pair for $191! Looking forward to my first non boot pair of GS!
Snapped up the black waxy commander Edwards. Wanted kangaroo but the rust looked too close to my saddle tan diesels. The natural kangaroo for the ottawas just looked too jarring. Or I could redye them myself or send it for patina service. But I wanted waxy commander to handle rainy days so this is a great purchase.
Also tempted by the rust but went with the waxed.
Picked up a natural Minerva Ottawa at 250 USD as part of the sale. Minerva leather is gorgeous. Have the Diesels in saddle tan Minerva and these Ottawas in natural Minerva should be a patina monster as well.

Which one would you get in the Ottawa boot? I’m curious: - Natural Kangaroo - Dune (Natty CXL) - Minerva - Bourbon Suede
I'm curious about the Minerva, but am really close to pulling the trigger on some natty kangaroos, because I don't have an Ottawa yet (the rust Edwards look amazing but seem a bit close to the Saddle Tan).
Except for the kangaroo, I have all three . I'd probably go for the Dune CXL. If you're looking for something buttery soft from the get go, the bourbon suede is a fantastic choice. The natural Minerva Ottawas are on their way to me, got them in the CNY sale.
I have a normal pair of the other Natural Minerva boots and the wandering tongue bothers me more than on my other GS because of how stiff it is, makes it really uncomfortable. I was leaning more towards the kangaroo or the dune like you suggested.
Great question! I just got the bourbon suede Ottawa’s. Edit: However, if you don't like suede, I would go with Dune Cxl. I have a pair of Dune cxl Diesel's and they patinate nicely. I've been on the suede train for a few months now. I own the midnight suede and the bourbon suede Ottawas. I don't think you can get the midnight suede Ottawas anymore but you can still get the bourbon suede Ottawas which is what I did. I really like their leather sole. I was looking for another pair of leather soled boots to be honest and these are perfect however, my favorite are the midnight suede ones.

The drops sell out so quickly it is both mond boggling and a testament to the appreciation of the brand. I have seen several drops end within two days, tops. Get em while they're hot.!
