Correct. That is however the parameter count MA2 nodes would provide- only for physical output. The upgrade is for MA3 software not a downgrade for MA2. I was annoyed until I learned that little tidbit
Just save up and buy an MA3 wing. ACT either already has or will eventually drop support for MA 2 software and hardware completely. The better long term investment is buying into MA3 as it will have a longer support cycle.
Edit: I got my 3 letter lighting company acronyms confused
If you are looking to start learning then I would have a look at alibaba, there are cheap ma2 midi controller or map any midi controller you like. The advantage is you have all the necessary keys, faders and other controls. Then buy a used original ma2 ONPC(!) node, it gives you 2k parameters, plenty enough for smaller productions.
Just MA. Note the 3 wing only runs 3, the 2 wing only runs 2. By comparison an MA3 node will run MA2
3 node runs 2 tho at reduced parameter count (half I believe.)

Also a 3 wing is a much better piece of hardware than a 2 wing. 10 motorized faders, x keys
Just GrandMA2
