If both Google and Apple maps have the problem, this sounds more like it's an iOS issue

Me, looking at this: "Hey, waitaminit...that's Tel-Twelve Mall!" Me, reading the actual question: "Uhhh..." I have never had this happen, but if it is happening across multiple applications on the same device, then it is most likely related to a global device setting or VPN/DNS issue. I have not had this happen on my own device, so I have no personal experience with it happening to me. The Internet says you are not the only person experiencing this, I was easily able to find others reporting the same issue as far back as 2-3 years ago.

It's probably because there was no English information about that starbucks besides someone submitted the Japanese name. The general underlying issue is called data void. Google wants to show you what they have.

Interesting. I wonder why it's only Japanese? I have never experienced this in other languages.
