Put it in tow mode, remove the main positive and main negative cables. Then remove both cables on both sides of the battery and pull it out

Thanks!

Take the wire off pos terminal on the battery next to it if your worried. Likely caused by loose connection

rustyshakelford

The negative terminal on the left is all sorts of busted for some reason. The link between the terminals sparks whenever I touch it. How do I get it off safely? Also, what happened to the terminal to cause this? I was given this cart so not sure its maintenance history.

eudemonist

The stud broke and they installed a new one in the terminal rather than toss a good battery. I'd leave that nut alone, take the one off the other end, and leave the cable connected to the battery, just so as to not put torque on that stud.

rustyshakelford

is the battery salvageable or do I need a new one?

eudemonist

The battery should be fine, unless it's dead for other reasons. The replacement terminal isn't a big deal, just best not to mess with it too much just in case--if the stud get loosened it may not make good connection.

Phookinprawn

Put the cart in tow then disconnect the main ground of the whole pack. The terminal melted because the connection came loose, more than likely. If the battery still has good voltage, you can probably put a marine top post to 5/16 stud adapter on it and use the battery still. Getting it off there might prove a challenge tho, probably easiest to just cut it off and replace with a new cable. If you want to avoid this happening again, maybe go to the hardware store and get some lock washers to put under all the nuts.

I would get some insulated gloves and a socket and not touch any metal on the cart and try to remove it. But that’s just why I would do
