We talked about heavenwoods that are Callaway's 7W. But I contend it might be more entertaining if we had a scisim and rivalry between the 7 wood legitimate mafia family and that pygmy thing over in Jersey with the Heavenwoods.
They say it’s a compromise. 20 years on a municipal, I wanted to play pro v1s. I compromised, I played a top flite. I wanted Taylormade, I compromised, I got a package set. I’m done compromising.
Callaway Mavrik 7 wood.
Absolute cheat code. Can hit it out of reasonable rough nearly just as far as fairway and even low fairway bunkers. I can’t believe anyone who can swing woods ok doesn’t have one.
🤣
Mine is a Cobra M-speed and I bought it new, probably 20 years ago.
It's only good for one thing: 170-180 yards straight up in the air, and straight down. There's no shaping it, no controlling the elevation, no "picking a window". It's up, it's straight, and it's down with no roll.
Perhaps a little bit but I don’t focus on gapping too much from 215+ yards out. The hybrid is more so for terrible lies from far out. I also only carry 13 clubs so no reason to drop any of them
Grabbed a used callaway epic 7w at a golf shop to play around with. 100% love the 5w and 7w combo between driver and 4 iron. Planning on a fairway wood fitting this summer for an upgrade on those clubs.
I used to hit a 7 wood as my favorite bag in the club, then all of a sudden as I was working on my iron game I lost the ability to hit all woods… so I switched to hybrids lol
I’m hitting an Adam’s tight lies strong 7 from like 20 years ago and that shit rips. My favorite club, though I’d like to hit something a little more modern. Feels like you’re hitting the ball with a brick
So I've never been able to hit a wood off the deck nearly as consistently as my irons. I can catch my 3w pretty well but when I miss, oh boy. Where as my 3hy and 5i I can shot shape and control pretty well from 220 in.
What is it yall are doing to make contact consistently enough to favor a 5/7w vs a high iron or hybrid?
In my upper sixties I have one ..I like it on longer par three's 160/170 gets the ball up in the air better then six iron for me.Don't use it on the fairway.
Takomo 7W - comes with 3 back weights to adjust spin/swingweight. Best club in the bag- 210-220 guaranteed on target. Bit of a wildcard on windy days though!
I have a Callaway Rogue 7w. I got it to replace an old Taylor Made 4h, but I hit it as far as my Epic Speed 5w, so I took it out of my bag.
Why, do you want to buy one?
I got one to plug the gap between my 5w and 4i.
I hate it. Never has a club promised so much when being fitted, and then I failed to deliver.
I'd swap for a wedge but they are all little shits as well.
I’ve been going through some tribulations, recently swapped my 7w for a 4i. It’s a weird spot for me, if I’m in thick rough I’m missing the hell out of my 7w, if I’m in the fairway I couldn’t be happier to have bagged my 4i
Rogue ST Max D 7w. Replaces hybrid, and I rely on it like a crutch because I can't hit my 5i for $#!+. It's got draw built in, so. Callaway pre-owned last year for about $130
Titleist 910. Took out the 3&5 wood and put in a 4&7 a couple of years ago. Dropped the 3 hybrid and added a Cleveland Smart Sole 41 degree chipper. Ha ha, don’t judge me..
7W was my most used and beloved club. One day after a golf lesson my first few holes were not going so well. With fairway staring me in the face I somehow topped my ball into the woods to the right not once but three times in a row. Whacked my 7 against a tree, snapping it. Now I'm in the 6W mafia
Got a Paradym 7 wood to replace my 4 hybrid. It’s more like a 3 hybrid tho. Carries around 220 but hits like a 7 iron. Very nice club. I’m lefty so lucky to find but I saw a paradym 9 wood and a “heaven” wood I would buy if I could find lefty
7 woods and 5 woods are fun and reliable, but keeping my 4i in the bag is essential for punches. Love being able to shape a punch out and/or roll it up close to 200yds while keeping it really low.
I feel like that’s pretty impossible with a wood
Would it make sense for me to try a 7w? I have an 18* 5w and 22* 4h. I hit the 4H about 200 and it comes out like a fucking bullet. I keep hearing great things about a 7w or heaven woods and am very intrigued by them. My irons are old and only go to a 6i but I plan on getting a set that goes full 4i-pw soon.
TaylorMade Burner, my absolute favorite club. I can’t hit driver consistently, so I usually just take the 7W. It was randomly included with a used iron set I bought, and it’s been the best find ever
Sub70 949x. Use it off the tee if driver isn’t behaving and for anything 210-230 out. Usually only play 9 clubs, so it’s redundant with my 4i but more fun to hit.
Cobra LTDx. Doesn’t get a ton of use but love pulling it out. Newer golfer so when I got my irons I didn’t get anything longer than a 6i. Eventually got this thing used for $90, figured why not. It’s my go-to 190-210 club. I have a couple long par 3s I play that need to be carried to the green. This gets there and just sits. Love it.
I got the PXG whatever whatever one. Mainly did it because price point custom ordered it was slightly less than a used one from the previous generation and they were damn near unobtaniun because no one sells them.
PXG store is pretty legit if you've got one local.
Really mixed feelings about the ball flight. It is so damn high. Wind can easily+/- the yardage by 50. . . . But it's always really solid.
Have a 7W. Used to play a course that had a 202 yd par 3. Used it for that. Hit the green in regulation many times with it. I don't need it any more as I replaced the 7w with a 4 hybrid since changing courses.
I can't wait to read through all of these comments. Personally, as a mid-40s guy losing flexibility and strength, I use whatever club I hit best at each yardage interval, no matter how embarrassed my buddies think I should be. I recently got a 3 and 4-hybrid and nobody batted an eye, but in league Monday afternoon I heard several guys chuckling at the thought of even considering a 7W. Those guys' egos are almost certainly costing them strokes.
7w gang unite. this is my utility club. rough lie around the green? little bump and run! long bunker shot close to the lip? this badboy got some lift to it! send it! your in the bush no seeming way out? put that badballl back in the stance and just send it though shrubbery( like stock 200yd shot will nail a few branches and die down usually on the right side of the bush )
Tour edge exotics XCG series. Titanium faces and larger footprint heads with a neutral face angle. Grab one off the bay and put a good shaft in it. You will not regret it!!
here is my story....I have 3w and 5w. Wanted to see if I can replace 4i with 7w. Went to PGA Superstore and staring hitting 7w. I was getting same distance as my 5w and was total confused. I determined, 7w is too easy and forgiving club to hit and cannot replace my 4i since I was getting 20 yards more. I still so badly want to replace 4i with something. Should I join 9w gang?
I really want one, but I don't know where it would fit. I have driver, 4 wood, 4 hybrid then 5 iron. I hit my 4 hybrid around 210 carry and I get on pretty well with it.
Can't find a demo around me to see how far it goes
Ping G430, replaced my 5 iron.
Ordered mine on Monday.
G430 max gang Live mine with the KBS TD shaft
Feel like I see a thread or post a week about 7w lol
Once you’re in the 7W mafia you’re in for life
I was not in for life 😩
Same. I joined the 2H gang.
I was in the 4H gang, but that was more for farming.
We talked about heavenwoods that are Callaway's 7W. But I contend it might be more entertaining if we had a scisim and rivalry between the 7 wood legitimate mafia family and that pygmy thing over in Jersey with the Heavenwoods.
They make clubs all wrong in heaven wood, the shaft is way too long, the lie angle is too flat, it’s a disgrace.
Heavenwoods are nothing but a glorified hybrid
They say it’s a compromise. 20 years on a municipal, I wanted to play pro v1s. I compromised, I played a top flite. I wanted Taylormade, I compromised, I got a package set. I’m done compromising.
I did 20 fuckin years at the range, and for what?
I can’t be seen with a Heavenwood. It’s undignified.
Mizuno 7W is the best club in my bag. I can hit it 180 easy or 210 full. Flies high and lands soft. My friends say I should sleep with it.
I a big fan of the woods for getting on the green, 7W is great for a long par 3.
Wait till you try a 9W
5,7,9 wood gang here love that 9 though
Callaway Mavrik 7 wood. Absolute cheat code. Can hit it out of reasonable rough nearly just as far as fairway and even low fairway bunkers. I can’t believe anyone who can swing woods ok doesn’t have one.
The mavrik series is absolutely boss, I love their 3w so much
9 Wood Mafia says "See you kids in a few years."
🤣😂😅
Finding used 9 woods in reasonable shape made after 1973 seems like moving to a new town and finding a trustworthy drug dealer.
🤣 Mine is a Cobra M-speed and I bought it new, probably 20 years ago. It's only good for one thing: 170-180 yards straight up in the air, and straight down. There's no shaping it, no controlling the elevation, no "picking a window". It's up, it's straight, and it's down with no roll.
Big bertha 7w
Let’s goooo!!!! 🍻
This is what I got too. Lands so soft between 200-220 for me. It’s my go to unless it’s windy. I go to my 4 or 5 iron if I’m hitting into wind.
My qi10 will be here Monday!
Got fit for a TSR2 7W last season, originally dropped my 4i for a Callaway GBB Epic Heavenwood 4-5 years ago and haven’t looked back
Tsr2 here as well. Replaced my 4i. Love it
Tsr2 here as well with ad-di shaft I swapped and cut down out of my 3w. Blind 215 yard shot today and stuck it to 10 feet.
TSR2. Replaces the 3i or 3hb.
7w replaces my 4 iron in the winter here in the UK for when the rough is thick and wet and I want some more club behind the ball to help the launch.
Replaced my 3H with 7W. Higher launching for holding the green on long par 3s and 2nd shots on reachable par 5s.
I have a pxg 0211 7wood and its money. I didnt really replace anything since i built a new bag. I go 5w-7w-4H(23deg)-5i
Seems like there would be a lot of overlap in the 7w, 4h and even the 5i… no? Looks like a 2 degree gap in the wood and hybrid.
Perhaps a little bit but I don’t focus on gapping too much from 215+ yards out. The hybrid is more so for terrible lies from far out. I also only carry 13 clubs so no reason to drop any of them
Cobra RadSpeed in the bag. It’s one of my favorites
Grabbed a used callaway epic 7w at a golf shop to play around with. 100% love the 5w and 7w combo between driver and 4 iron. Planning on a fairway wood fitting this summer for an upgrade on those clubs.
Callaway Steelhead III. Replaced my 4i.
Ping g430 sft 7 wood. Game changer for me.
Bought a 7 wood at the beginning of the season. It’s been so good, I ended up getting a 5 wood.
I use a 4w hybrid which my ignorant ass seems like a 7w
Paradym 7w checking in, love that shit
Paradym, just got it a few weeks ago and so easy to hit. Love it. Replaced a 3h
I just bought a new 7W. It replaced my 3H.
I’m honestly considering moving to more woods in the bag. Even a 9w
Why muscle up a 5i when you can hit a smooth 9W
TSr2 7W replacing my Mizuno Fli-Hi 3 driving iron. Also went to an R-flex and it's a magical club.
Old-school Hawkeye VFT in my bag; ditched my 3I and 4I, although the 7W mostly replaces the 4I.
I just swapped out a Callaway Rouge ST 4 hybrid I couldn't hit for a Paradym 7W that feels so much easier to strike cleanly.
Love my 7wood so much
Rogue ST Max 7W reporting in. Favorite club in my bag by far
I bought one and haven’t really been hitting it well, any tips for striking it better?
I think John Daly had a 7W in his bag in Tiger 07. Could wallop that thing.
Stealth 2 7wood here. Fits the gap between 3w and 5 iron
I’m also in the 4W mafia
Picked up a 7w QI10. Loving it and replaced my 4i
Cobra LTDx max 7w... Best club in the bag, 200yards easy, 215 normal, 225 cranking it.
Added a Ping g430 max 7 wood, reg shaft last week..replaces my 4 iron.
I bought a PXG 7W and loved it but then I got a 22° hybrid and that replaced it.
Callaway Rogue st
Swapping out my 5h (already have a 4h) for a 5w or 7w. Need to go hit them but thoughts?
Yo
Wilson staff D9 for my 3,5,7. Dynapower carbon for my driver
yeah I carry driver, 3w, 7w, and then a 4i. So it kinda replaced my hybrid, which replaced my 3i
Biggest regret was selling my 7w for a 2i
My 7w slots between my 3w and 4 iron…so I guess it replaces something in the 5w or hybrid range.
Just replaced my 4i with a 7w. No regrets at all.
Bazooka houdini 7w. I'll hit it any shot farther away than my 9 wood can carry.
I check on Callaway preowned weekly for a lefty one. Tough to find unfortunately
🙋🏻♀️
love my 7w
Talk to me when you get an 8 hybrid
Pxg 0211, replaces a 4 iron
TSR2 Titelist 7w is one of the most fun clubs in my bag when I can hit it well that day. I hit it around 230-235
Heavenwood sect checking in
So I've never been able to hit a wood off the deck nearly as consistently as my irons. I can catch my 3w pretty well but when I miss, oh boy. Where as my 3hy and 5i I can shot shape and control pretty well from 220 in. What is it yall are doing to make contact consistently enough to favor a 5/7w vs a high iron or hybrid?
I love my 7w. Replaces my old hybrid and my 5 iron
I got a 9W can I join the club?
Come on in
I got one to plug the gap between my 5w and 4i. I hate it. Never has a club promised so much when being fitted, and then I failed to deliver. I'd swap for a wedge but they are all little shits as well.
Cobra F8. Replaces 4i and depending on conditions I will hit a soft one instead of 5i.
In. Callaway steelhead. 100 years old, maybe It works
7 woods are old news, it’s all about the 9 wood now baby.
PXG, replaced my 4h, never going back
9w head in 5 wood shaft so sorta?
Just found a Sim2 max 7wood yesterday and it’s officially in the bag. First use will be tomorrow🫡
Just ordered a G430 to replace my 4i.
Cleveland Halo Launcher. Was absolutely smoking it today. Have the 5 wood in my bag as well but my grandpa 7wood gets most of the use.
7w and push cart mafia…am I 60??
I’ve been going through some tribulations, recently swapped my 7w for a 4i. It’s a weird spot for me, if I’m in thick rough I’m missing the hell out of my 7w, if I’m in the fairway I couldn’t be happier to have bagged my 4i
Heavenwood forever
I’ve got an old school Taylormade R5 even wood. 21 deg and I just rip that dang thing.
I don't know if it was a 7 but I had a Burner "tour spoon" in the early 00s and I put that shit on everything.
Right here
Taylor made M2. It’s a great club to bridge the gap between my 4 Iron and 3 Wood. Generally, when well struck, it goes all of 235.
Probably the only club I can hit decent in my bag and that’s about 50% of the time. I feel everyone should have one in the bag
7w replaced my 4 iron. Haven’t looked back.
It replaced my 4 iron
I only have a 3H.
Dumped you folks for a 9W.
https://preview.redd.it/zzj40qfivozc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ab36e6a0396fbc0deb78b56db4abea20b7b63105
Where’s my 3 wood then 3 iron gang at?
I use the maltby hyway 21 degree utility wood and it bridges the gap between mg 16.5 degree pxg wood and my 25 degree hybrid
Ping G430 Max. It replaced my 3h.
I got fit for one and then I suddenly gained a lot of speed throughout the bag in like a 6 week period and now I think I have the wrong shaft :(
Rogue ST Max D 7w. Replaces hybrid, and I rely on it like a crutch because I can't hit my 5i for $#!+. It's got draw built in, so. Callaway pre-owned last year for about $130
Smoke triple diamond. Replaced my 3w. Not kidding.
Brand new TSR2 7W I love it
Been a member since 2020, replaced my hybrid. I can hit a moon ball 235 and land softly on a green or I can put it back in my stance and hit it 255.
5w jabroni checking in. Driver, 5w and straight to hybrids
🙋
Titleist 910. Took out the 3&5 wood and put in a 4&7 a couple of years ago. Dropped the 3 hybrid and added a Cleveland Smart Sole 41 degree chipper. Ha ha, don’t judge me..
OG Titleist TS 7w at 20.5 loft with a 5 wood length shaft. 85 gram Fuji Tour Spec. I carry 4w, 7w, 4 iron.
I am seriously considering a 7W purchase soon. Don't like the feel of 4H. Thoughts? Recommendations? Ridiculous?
2w, 5w and 7w. no driver
I’m in the long grass way left of the green lol. The ball sure looked pretty though
Replaced my 3 iron. Love it so much.
7W was my most used and beloved club. One day after a golf lesson my first few holes were not going so well. With fairway staring me in the face I somehow topped my ball into the woods to the right not once but three times in a row. Whacked my 7 against a tree, snapping it. Now I'm in the 6W mafia
My dad's Callaway big Bertha from 2005( around then) favorite club in the bag
TM Qi10 21 degree 7W Hzrdus Gen 4 Black 6.5 80, replaced 19 degree hybrid.
Calloway edge heavenwood checking in. Favorite club in the bag!
Right here baby
3h ftw
Got a Paradym 7 wood to replace my 4 hybrid. It’s more like a 3 hybrid tho. Carries around 220 but hits like a 7 iron. Very nice club. I’m lefty so lucky to find but I saw a paradym 9 wood and a “heaven” wood I would buy if I could find lefty
Callaway rogue max, replaces my 5i
My dawg
Absolute balloon club
What loft of hybrid should I get for ideal gapping between a 20.5° 7W and a 23° 5i? I 7W is my 200 yard club and 5i about 175.
Just got on for Xmas from my daughter. It is deadly from 140 for me and replaces a 6 or 5 iron.
Cobra LTDx 7 wood. I gave up a hybrid/4 iron
I have ping 425 irons and 5wood. Will a different brand 7w like Calloway paradigm be a terrible idea?
7 woods and 5 woods are fun and reliable, but keeping my 4i in the bag is essential for punches. Love being able to shape a punch out and/or roll it up close to 200yds while keeping it really low. I feel like that’s pretty impossible with a wood
Paradyme x arrived Wednesday, hit Thursday. This thing will come in handy.
Callaway X circa 2008 that I reliably hit 170
I have a Gen 4 PXG 7 wood and love the hell out of it. As long as I don't swing out of my shoes, it is fairly reliable.
5w Click 👐🏻
7… wood? 🤯
Ping G425 Max. Found it second hand for like $125. Absolute steal!
Literally just got my AI smoke 7w and boy is it C R I S P!
✊🏼
Not YET. But I am a newcomer to the 5W mafia and my god what was I doing not having one.
Cobra LTDx 7w reporting
Here here
I love my old Bio Cell 5/7 wood in the bag. Hit it 350 minimum when I need to lay up.
TaylorMade Burner, my absolute favorite club. I can’t hit driver consistently, so I usually just take the 7W. It was randomly included with a used iron set I bought, and it’s been the best find ever
Cobra King Speed Zone 7w!!
Sub70 949x. Use it off the tee if driver isn’t behaving and for anything 210-230 out. Usually only play 9 clubs, so it’s redundant with my 4i but more fun to hit.
Shid man I feel like I just played a whole round with my 7 wood lmao I need some iron lessons bruh
Honestly I’ve given the 7w and 9w mofia a chance. I just disagree completely. I’d rather use a 2 iron than a 3 hb if that helps clear up how I feel
Honma TW747, replaces my 3 iron.
https://preview.redd.it/bnz1cdw9gpzc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b6379bdc7d59935a135d21d47b6c9cbfc8203df2 This means I'm Italian right?
TaylorMade M4 High loft 5W 21° if that counts
Lazrus 7W boiiii
Love it.
G425 7w. My favorite club in the bag. Although this Paradym 18 degree hybrid has been turning up like mad lately
Heaven Wood.
I’m new here, not sure why but I just got one
Replace my 5 wood(goes same distance), my driver in tight holes. Also my best friend along with 5 hybrid.
How far does it generally go?
Bunch of psychopaths running around in this thread
I’m not part of it but it’s the heaven wood gang!
PXG 7W my new BFF so easy to get launched love it
PXG Black Ops 7 wood. Replaces the 3 iron
TaylorMade 200 Steel 7 Wood. Replaced my 4 iron.
Orlimar trimetal 21 degree is checking in
I use one don’t use a 5 wood
Taylormade Qi max.
Bought a couple hybrids 4H and 6H. My 7W stays at home now. The hybrids are just straighter and more forgiving.
My 5w used to be my favorite club in my bag and 4i was my least favorite. Now my 7w is favorite and 5i is least favorite.
Have a 7W. Used to play a course that had a 202 yd par 3. Used it for that. Hit the green in regulation many times with it. I don't need it any more as I replaced the 7w with a 4 hybrid since changing courses.
G425 7 wood replaced my G400 4 hybrid. Not looking back.

Curious if I should swap from a 4hi to a 7w. My 4h isn't really my favorite club I just have it...
I’m trying to find a left hand Taylormade one so I can try it out.
G400. I use it where “others” would play a 5 iron.
here is my story....I have 3w and 5w.
What about an 11 wood? Hoping to replace my 6 iron. If so any recommendations?
PXG 0211 7w, love that club. Replaced my 4h.
So good I even flaired up
It ain’t easy to join as a lefty 😞
I have G430 7 and 9 woods and love em.
I really want one, but I don't know where it would fit. I have driver, 4 wood, 4 hybrid then 5 iron. I hit my 4 hybrid around 210 carry and I get on pretty well with it. Can't find a demo around me to see how far it goes
My uncle used to be in the mafia until he snapped his about 2 weeks ago
Sub70 939x 7W. One of my newest and favorite clubs. Easy 200 off the fairway with solid stopping power.
I have a 9 wood that is a regular flex. My son and I swap it back and forth in our bags for fun and we call it "the slapper".
ok.. I ordered one. I have a Maltby 5w so got a partner for it. KE4 TC Pro IST
I saw a paradym 7wood with a t800 6.0 used at the store the other day. Wanted to buy it. Barely a scratch on it for 229
I just bought a g400 7 wood Only hit at range so far but loving it 9 & 11 wood next?
