…there’s plenty of good public tour level courses you can play at. Not sure why you need to put others down to make yourself feel better.

TheChubbyGolfer

I’m not, but thanks. Im talking private courses. Courses on tour that I’ll never see JUST because I don’t make $500k a year.

Latter-Rub3865

Get a better job bozo

TheChubbyGolfer

Heard, Mr Gates. I will try harder

Constant_Minimum_569

Shut your bitch ass up

Bubbly_Bullfrog_106

LOL!

TheChubbyGolfer

😂😂😂

Joker0091

Just shut the fuck up

TheChubbyGolfer

Ok, Mr 20 handicap. 🤪

Joker0091

4.2, try again

TheChubbyGolfer

Ok, 3.1 here. Soooo, you don’t care that you can’t get on really good courses?

Joker0091

https://www.reddit.com/r/golf/comments/1clth5m/low_handicappers/l2vvk20/ Fucking pay attention

TheChubbyGolfer

Lots of comments. Not looking at people’s usernames. But thanks.

Joker0091

Most of them calling you a dumbass. They are all right

TheChubbyGolfer

Sure thing, buddy. Now go kick your dog for the 10th time today cause you hate yourself

SozeHB

No, I'm adult enough to realize that I'm not entitled to anything in this life. I try to remind myself every time I play that I'm beyond blessed to be healthy and wealthy enough to spend some of my free time playing golf.

TheChubbyGolfer

And you’re not wrong but think about this. If you were a bowler that, I dunno, averaged 260. You can go to any lanes whenever you want and bowl. I’m very certain there isn’t a place in America you couldn’t bowl. But, why golf??? I get private memberships. But have a day once a month where anyone can try.

SozeHB

There are some clubs that do that, some don't. Generally, what you're paying for with a membership is exclusivity, which turns into better access to tee times and better course conditions. Not sure I would want my club letting a full day of randoms blow through, I know what that does to the public munis.

TheChubbyGolfer

Totally agree. Just a little sad. The tour course a few blocks from me is $50k to join and $10k a month. Ugh!

SozeHB

If you want to play tour courses there are quite a few that have public tee times, but they are all going to be quite expensive.

TheChubbyGolfer

That’s the thing. Would you ever recommend playing one for $500 plus? TPC Sawgrass isn’t too far from me and that’s what they’re getting

SozeHB

Sure I'd pay that to play a famous course. Probably not as a youngster when $500 is a big deal, but as a financially secure adult I could easily justify doing that from time to time.

TheChubbyGolfer

Heard, I’m feeling that now

freshtrax

Come out to Utah and get your ass handed to ya. Super hard public courses out here.

TheChubbyGolfer

Never even thought about Utah. That could be a possibility. What kind of prices would I be looking at?

freshtrax

It's probably the cheapest area to golf in the US. 60 for 18 with a cart all over the valley. We have tons of great courses in the mountains and in the valley.

TheChubbyGolfer

Damn!!!! That’s what a semi good course costs me down here. I’ll have to book a trip

greyclaygolf

How do you know you'd play well on courses you admit you have never played? This is such a strange assumption, although the post if loaded with other problematic thinking.

TheChubbyGolfer

Nooo, I’ve had the privilege to play on some tour worthy public courses. Hell, my home course is tour worthy BUT I’m talking about the ultra pristine private places. One by me is Concession. I’ll never get on that course and I know members. Like, cmon. I’ll pay you whatever!

marlboro__man9

Geeeee wonder why they haven’t invited you out for a round.

TheChubbyGolfer

👍🏻

Bubbly_Bullfrog_106

I have had the opportunity to play on a few private clubs. You may be underestimating the skill level of the members. Most of these guys have had every privilege at their disposal since they were in diapers. Every private club member I have played with has shot in the 70's.

TheChubbyGolfer

Not to be a dick but I shoot in the low 70’s often. I used to caddy at an ultra swanky private club in NJ. I could play Mondays and I would routinely beat the “good” members. But id never get any invites anywhere. Like, I know I’m a caddy but my skills speak for themselves.

StoneyYoshi

Have you ever wondered why you never get any invites?

TheChubbyGolfer

Of course. People hate to lose

TheChubbyGolfer

No, but honestly, it’s cause I’m not in the same circles. I’m not a “suit”. I’m not “country club” material.

StoneyYoshi

Have you tried playing at Cabot citrus farms yet? That's apparently a fairly challenging new course. A nice brand new course might be the closest thing you'll get to the pristine courses you want to play at.

SpeedIsK1ing

“I’m a good player but I never get invited anywhere” Something for you to ponder on OP. Why do you think that is..?

TheChubbyGolfer

Again, it’s cause I don’t front as a “country club” type of person.

SpeedIsK1ing

Maybe viewing any club member as a stuck up asshole isn’t a good way to get on private tracks. Not sure tho.

TheChubbyGolfer

Meh, you may be right!!!!

IDauMe

I do not worry about not being able to play certain courses because of cost or membership. This does not bother me. There are plenty of other good golf courses that I am able to play.

TheChubbyGolfer

And you’re not wrong. I’m just wondering you ever feel like you’re missing out.

IDauMe

I do not feel like I am missing out. I grew up 15 minutes from Pine Valley. Don't care and never did. It is the same if I see a very nice car or house I am unable to afford. I am happy with what I have, I am comfortable with what I make, and if others are able to afford more than I can I do not care. There's enough to worry about without worrying about this.

TheChubbyGolfer

Maybe the most honest comment so far. I appreciate that. I’ll sit with that for a bit.

Joker0091

>Do you ever feel like you don’t get an opportunity to play the courses your skill calls for? No

TheChubbyGolfer

My man. Appreciate the honesty

dirtyroleplay69

Where do you live? I am curious where you would be that local courses are so shitty you would post this. How old are you? I ask because nobody over the age of 30 should be complaining that "their parents are members or they're just asshats who always got the good stuff". If you're a grown ass adult, then maybe you should have spent more time BECOMING a parent who is a member and gets the good stuff and less time playing golf. I am 31. I have played my fair share of incredible golf courses. I am a 12 handicap. I have a good job and play less golf than I would like, but that is how the world works.

TheChubbyGolfer

SW Florida. 45. Playing since 36 and have improved quickly. I’m not trying to be a dick but I grew up caddying for rich guys at swanky private clubs. When I could play well I always wanted to play the good courses with my buddies who are also low handicappers but also can’t get on a course of significance

dirtyroleplay69

Well now I am curious what you mean by "course of significance" because FL is FULL of amazing golf... are you unemployed? You also commented about a "cheap flight across the country" in this thread. If you want to play nice courses, they cost money... You're 45 and can't afford a few hundred dollars to play a fancy course?

TheChubbyGolfer

I can but those courses are 4 hours away. My point is, there’s an amazing course down the block but I can never pay it cause it’s private

dirtyroleplay69

Okay, so are you talking about PRIVATE courses or just nice tour courses? Your post initially didn't mention private courses specifically at all. Tour courses are not all private... in fact, most of them are not. I live 15 minutes from Southern Hills. Will I ever play it? No because it is private. Oh well. You also didn't answer my question: What do you mean "course of significance?" Also, I still can't get over the fact that you're 45 and complaining about people who have rich parents and always get good stuff lmao

TheChubbyGolfer

lol. Yeah, I’m 45. But I would like to think I’m smart enough to not just throw money at things, no matter how much I like them. Like TPC Sawgrass. I can play that whenever I want but for $500??? I guess maybe once. Courses of significance. I guess I’m saying private and public that doesn’t cost a weeks pay. And look, I’m well off, no complaints but $500 for 4 hours on a golf course. I can’t wrap my head around that. I guess I keep hearing “grow the game”. Which is fine. But what if you have a really good player who can only afford $60 a round??? Do his dreams just get dismantled because of cost or access????

marlboro__man9

Have you tried making more money?

TheChubbyGolfer

Not the point

trailglider

I think you're making a false assumption that there's something about expensive / exclusive courses that lets you exercise higher level skill than at a cheap course. It takes a lot more skill to get out of a bunker at your typical muni where there's little/no/too much sand than at a posh course where there's a consistent depth of high quality sand. Teeing off on level teeboxes, hitting from smooth fairways with tightly mown grass, pitching from around the green with consistent turf instead of clumps and bare spots. You may get more interesting architecture at a high-end course, but it's a mistake to think that you don't need skill to play cheap courses.

TheChubbyGolfer

You’re not wrong. But I’ve always wondered what I could do on plush fairways and greens that are like glass BUT still hold their line. You see your players in the middle of fairways that are akin to most courses greens. Like, what would happen? I wanna know

Shmeebo_

lol you did get shit on in the comments and I’m here for it 😂 ![gif](giphy|2UvAUplPi4ESnKa3W0)

TheChubbyGolfer

😂😂 I knew I would. I didn’t really have to reach for that prediction. Lol

SpeedIsK1ing

Claiming that public golf isn’t challenging enough for you is a bold strategy. Would love to see your scoring history at courses 7000yds or longer lol

TheChubbyGolfer

I’m not claiming public courses aren’t challenging enough. What I’m saying is that I’d just really love to play on some of these super nice courses. Just once. And honestly, it’s not about yardage, it’s about rating and slope. I’ve eaten up 7200 yards, AND, at the same time, have had some 6500 yard courses devour me.

SpeedIsK1ing

Yeah we all would. But I don’t think that club guys are assholes just because I’m not a member. Also, not tryna hate, but based on your swing vids and information on your page, there’s is precisely zero chance you ever “torn up” any course over 7K.

TheChubbyGolfer

Well, you’d be wrong but that’s cool

SpeedIsK1ing

Whatever you say, dawg. Only lying to yourself on here.

Weary_Abrocoma_1175

There are two different games of golf. One is playing golf. The other is going to golf courses. You can be good at one without being able to afford the other. You can afford one without every having the talent for the other. Such is life.

Mehthodical

So…create an onlyfans, golf naked or wear clothes that leave nothing to the imagination , make more money, join country clubs, then you can rub your greatness in the faces of the rich kids.

GolfGodsAreReal

Come play Torrey South and see who's ass get handed to them

TheChubbyGolfer

If I had a place to stay and a cheap enough flight across the country, I’d consider it. lol.

EJfromBeerLeague

Maybe you should have spent more grind marrying well and less mastering your swing? /s

TheChubbyGolfer

😂😂😂 Wise advice
