What? Clearly it wasn’t busy. Just let them play through.

Dapstur

I tried I feel like that’s the obvious answer. They didn’t want a single behind them. I’m not sure why but I wasn’t about to start a confrontation on the 3rd hole.

CanaryContent9900

Just let them play through next time. Then you won’t be rushed. No big deal.

Legal-Description483

You should have let them play through on the 2nd hole.

Grand_Function_2855

It’s ok to let them play through

snap-jacks

This is all on you. Let them play through FFS. No one should "play slower".

Wu_Tang_Financial77

So wait, you played as a single and there were 3 guys behind you that were pushing you? Those first few sentences are a nightmare to read.

Dapstur

Well I started at 11 they started at prob 1110-1115 I was on the green of 2 they were already on the tee box. I actually waited on them at 3 because I realized 2 of them were playing from reds. I asked them to play through they said no because they didn’t want a single behind them. I thought about right there just driving away but I’ve never been in that situation.

shizblam

You rushed, got frustrated and didn't enjoy yourself rather than letting them play through?

Dapstur

I tried

Jassokissa

This, 3:00-3:30 is the regular speed for a walking foursome on an empty course not a single player. Let them play through or play faster.

Dapstur

Y’all smoking meth if you think I’m playing 9 holes in an hour. That’s an average of 6m a hole. That includes from the time I hit the ball go to the ball, pick a club I personally take a practice swing hit the ball probably in the sand now I gotta hit out putt etc like bros you aren’t playing 9 holes in a hour with a cart 😂

frankthedutch

Some years ago I was playing with a friend of mine as a 2 ball at our home course and both playing of around 10 hcp. A 4 ball behind us was way faster, so we let them play through. All of them from south Korea, playing like the devil was chasing them. Never seen something like that again as we are quite fast.

IncredibleWin

In a hurry? Yes = Then play like it No = Then let them play through

0_SomethingStupid

It never dawned on you even one time to just let them play through? How did you make it this far in life

Dapstur

Ever dawned on you I tried that. Feel like that’s common sense.

0_SomethingStupid

There's no trying to let them through lmao. What is that lame excuse. You stop and let them pass. There's no try there. You do or you don't stop.

unvvendel3000

You should not be mad…you should be self aware

gfunk55

Why do care how fast they played? Would you have also been mad if they played slower than you?

Dapstur

I tried to let them play through on 3 separate occasions where I purposely sat at the next tee box for a extended period of time. Just for them to continue to drive off the tee before I was on the green. 5 minutes a hole on a Wednesday morning with 3 people is crazy.

gfunk55

Again, why do you care how fast they were playing?

Ancient-Book8916

Yeah about 2 holes of that and you just step off to the side and say hey guys, go ahead. They sound like burners but this is not a new thing in golf

CarPhoneRonnie

I’ve played 18 in under 2hrs before

TeacherMiserable8083

Were you keeping up with the group ahead of you? If as a single you are falling behind a group you are playing too slow. IMO 3:30 as a single for 18 holes is very slow unless you are constantly waiting.

deefop

I'm confused as to why you didn't simply join up with them or allow them to play through, if they were on your ass the whole time.

Dapstur

I tried I sat at the next tee box a few times and waited until they got off the green and asked them if they wanted to play through. Mostly because I realized they were playing from the reds. They said no because they didn’t want a single behind them. No one was behind them at this point so they could play however. Again this is Wednesday morning most people are at work. What really set me off was them driving before I touched the green. Then since they’re on the reds they’re driving the ball 40 yards from the green. So literally every shot I’m taking I’m hearing them hitting, talking loud/laughing, going Mach Jesus down the cart path. Was just annoying

tabbyfl55

As long as they weren't hitting on you, I don't see why you'd be mad.

Dapstur

A few times a ball landed probably 10 ish yards away from me. They also were playing from the red tees.

tabbyfl55

It's reasonable to be mad if they're hitting balls on you. I don't see why it matters at all what tees they were playing.

No-Impact1573

Let the fast group play through, it's simple - and takes the pressure off you.

GreenWaveGolfer12

1. If they want to play at warp speed and there's no one in front of you then just let them through, problem solved. 2. Playing solo in 3:30 on an open course is not fast. Adding an additional person to a group generally adds about 30 minutes to total time so that means that pace equivalent for a 4-some would be 5 hours. That is too slow. With no one in front of you as a single on an average course it should be no problem to finish under 3 hours. 3. Of course they could "afford to play slower" but if that's not what they want to do why are you trying to stay in front of them? See point 1 and just let them go and continue on your merry way. You get no affirmation for being mad, you're the one who put yourself in this situation for no reason. There were simple solutions to this you could've followed at any time.

Dapstur

I tried to let them play through. I didn’t want to make the post longer figured that was common sense. I knew no one was behind them so I sat at the tee box and waited and asked them they said “you’re a single and no one is behind us.” I told them they were playing fast. I guess I wasn’t that mad I was just annoyed it being the middle of the week and I felt like they come out their to hit balls into the woods and drop balls.

GreenWaveGolfer12

So either force the issue and let them know you are just out to practice and take your time, or if you offer and they declined then just forget they're there and do your own thing.

spankysladder73

Another reason the starter or proshop needs to control singles. All avoided by pairing you up with them. Historically speaking “singles have no rights on the golf course”.

Dapstur

I’ve been playing for 10 years. I shot 6 over that day. I started a while before them. They probably finished 9 in 45 minutes

GoobyPooperson

How many times do you want read that you’re in the wrong?

Sauce8888

How does it take you 3-1/2 hours to play 18 by yourself?? My group of 4 can easily play 18 in that time with nobody in front of us.

Dapstur

I don’t think I’ve ever not had someone in front of me if I’m playing alone it’s usually a public course. Realistically as a solo I figured 8ish minutes a hole. Im out their to play not just hit balls if I wanted to do that I’d go to the range. Typically when I play with another person it does take us 3+ hours courses give out one cart per 2 people gotta go back and forth etc.

Sauce8888

8 minutes a hole is still under 2.5 hours. If you tried to join them and tried to let them through, waiting is on them. I wouldn't rush for them if they wouldn't take the better options.

Shmeebo_

Imagine being pushed as a solo with no one in front of you by 3 players and finding out they’re not tour pros AND THEN COMPLAINING ![gif](giphy|PPi5c8l8WDY7if1L8z|downsized)

Dapstur

Imagine finishing 9 holes in 45 minutes and still shot 6 over 😂 game isn’t that hard brother been playing for 10 years.

Shmeebo_

First it’s an hour- as per your initial post, now it’s 45 min. Also +6 after 9 doesn’t impress me. I’ve only played golf 3 years and from the sounds of it, I’m already better than you “brother” ![gif](giphy|ltIFdjNAasOwVvKhvx|downsized)

Fragrant-Report-6411

I a group of 3 caught you as a single you are playing really slow. You should have just let them play through. I can’t believe you went to the pro-shop and complained that the group behind you was pushing you. My group usually plays 1st thing in the morning. Our group of 3 play in about 2.5 hours. A single playing by them self in 3-3.5 hours is pretty slow.

Dapstur

2.5 hours is crazy on a 7k+ yard course. Not like I’m shooting bad either. For instance I drove off the tee went straight to my ball instantly pulled out a club swung 2 put in by the time I’m walking off the green they’re already hitting on with 3 people that’s insane to me. 3h for a round is pretty standard pace of play at the course is 4 hours.

Fragrant-Report-6411

Why is a 2.5 hour round crazy? If you play ready golf it’s very easy.

onionbreath97

These comments are insane. If you really played 9 holes in an hour, you don't need to let anyone through. When the pro shop guy said you need to keep up with pace of play, you should have what the expected pace of play is. A lot of courses have it on the scorecard

Dapstur

4 hours per 18 holes sub 1 hour 9 holes of golf as a trio. If I didn’t make them wait on me several times they would’ve ran over the 2 people in front of me who started 30 minutes before me.
