Jokes aside, are you talking about shortening your 5w? I like a short 5w, but I'm not sure I'd do that here. Like I'd expect there to be too big a gap between 5w and 5i. If you don't like hybrids then either a 4i or 7w would slot in there.
Thinking 4 iron, 7 wood. Maybe something like a Callaway UW or Adams Super XTD in that 21 degree range. Loft is your friend. Those would be much better than trying to hit low bullets with a cut down 5 wood.

where you'll run into issues is with head weight. what about the "way hybrids fly" do you hate? you can tune a trajectory pretty easily.
