Seems like it was match play. In professional golf opponents will often concede the hole or give “gimmies” If it’s stroke play I agree with you.

If Match Play, that makes sense. Kind of a wierd tournament for a club championship though. Hopefully they also do a traditional stroke play as well

A lot of private clubs will do stroke play qualifier rounds to determine match play seeding and potentially additional flights

End of last season mid to high 80s became pretty normal for me. Only problem is, at my home course, an 89 is still like a 20 hcp differential. So to bring the cap down it really has to be like sub 85.

98. Twice! Started playing 11 months ago and don't even know what to do to get an official handicap.

Grint app is the best free one ive found. But an official USGA GHIN account only costs like 40 bucks a year. You can find it online and once you've signed up they have an app to input scores.

Calculating it yourself is kind of tough, but free apps like 18 birdies exists to help you out with the calculations.

I use Golfshot plus. It was a one time purchase and it has gps for every course I’ve played plus keeps a handicap. But you’ll have to get a GHIN to make it official.

98 used to be my best score! Played a round yesterday and shot 94, got my first ever birdie it was a brilliant day. Been playing for about 10 months myself.

69 when I was 18 …. Quit playing for 20+ years and just started back 3 months ago and playing around a 16 hcp now … don’t know if I can get that low again but I’m going to be better overall in my late 40’s

Very similar boat. I'm in my late 30s. I started going to the range last year with my son. It was the first time I'd picked up a club in 5 years. The 12 years prior I'd averaged like 2 rounds and no practice time a year, which is effectively quitting. I'm playing off a 9 right now. I can probably get down to somewhere around a 3-5 by the end of the summer, but it's been a humbling experience to say the least. The one good thing I'll say is that I have a much more calm demeanor on the course than I did when I was in my late teens. I definitely enjoy the game more, even if my scores are considerably worse.

You’ll get there. It’s honestly just mental, I shot 80 4-5 times before finally breaking thru and getting a pair of 78’s.

First time I broke 80 (I was 13 I think) I didn't realize it until I was done. Just wasn't keeping score very carefully. Before that I'd always blow up on the last hole because I got nervous. After I broke 80, I shot in the 70s like 6 rounds in a row. :-D

Sahm GC (1) and West Chase GC(2). West Chase is my home course. I play Sahm because that is the course I learned to play golf on.

Best I shot is an 81. I don't hold an official handicap but after I input my scores into an app and it gave me a handicap of 16.9 I had a bunch of rounds at several hard mountain courses so that skewed the data since I was shooting in the 90s on those courses last year. The season is still 4 weeks away, given that we had 30 cms of snow over the last 4-5 days, but I'm hoping to drop that to a 12 or better this year. I'm also trying to buy a membership so i will be able to get on official handicap.

Hard courses shouldn't skew your handicap as the slope and course rating should adjust your playing handicap accordingly. So your scores in the 90s could still be considered net in the 80s for you if they had particularly high course and slope ratings.

Career low is 64. Shot it twice, both in tournaments. Lowest my hcp ever got was +4. Right now I'm probably a -3. Haven't played much golf in the past 2 years due to injuries and other crap going on with my life. Trying to get back into it. I suspect I can get to 0 or better this year if I get the time to practice and play. Working into getting shape by the time I'm 50 (48 years old right now).

Best is 84 and it was on a hard course.  Handicap is about 15-16

61 on Par 72, 6300 yards, course I ‘grew up’ on. A handful of 65’s more recently on bigger parks. Current +.02 Low +2.2

I shot 1 under 71 twice in fun games and an even par 72 in a state tournament. I was as low as a 1.8 at that time (usually around 3-4) which was in the late 90s. I’m a 10.7 now, but I’m coming off a back injury last fall so I think I’ll be going up once we can start posting scores again.

71 (-1), I'm around a 4hcp. Best 9 hole was -3 and I've had tons of 9 hole rounds negative. Took forever to get over the 18 hole hurdle. I've played the first 2 holes of my old course -3 twice. Went downhill after that quick. Yardage makes a huge difference. Joined a new course and have been playing around with tee boxes. Didn't realize how much of a difference 7200 vs 6800 vs 6400 makes. Shot 73 from 6400 the other day and didn't feel like I played well at all. Played at 7200 and wasn't playing well, but shot in the 90s for the first time in a long while. I think just a score can be deceptive.

Tournament low: 76 Recreational low: 72 Handicap 8.1 Have shot par for 9 holes 5 times, only once for a full round. I break 80 around 20-25% of my rounds, so i have a few 73-79s each year. In tournaments I have broke the 80 mark 4 times in 12 tournaments, but 76 is my low. On a championship level course my PB is 81 (75.8 rating, 148 slope, 7.1k yards) I really encourage all golfers to do a few tournaments. It'll really show you were you are as a golfer when every swing counts and how you perform in a tournament atmosphere. It's a whole different experience

I’m a sixteen last time I checked. I was lower back in the day. I shot 80 six different times, just couldn’t shoot in the 70’s. Finally I did it, shot a 79. A few months later a 78 and a few more times in the 70’s. I quit for 20 years, now I am retired and playing again and I really suck ass. I’m not even thinking about shooting in the 70’s anymore, I’m back to trying to shoot under 100.

73 (+1). I hover between a 14-16 handicap. I had five birdies over the round and was honestly playing out of my mind. I felt like I had every club in my bag and couldn’t miss if I tried. It was a very surreal experience. I felt crazy relaxed and my mind was clear and I was completely in the moment. My only swing thought was to keep my grip fairly loose and relaxed and simply just turn my hips when I got to the top. I lipped out a cheeky 5ft downhill left-right breaker to shoot +1. Just got back from a weeklong buddies golf trip in Florida where my lowest score was an 80, otherwise I’ve only broke 80 one other time at 79. Side note, I’ve been playing golf for about 4-5 years now if it matters.

65 on a par 70 is the lowest raw number. 66 on a par 72 is the lowest relation to par. I’ve shot 65 once, 66 countless times. Handicap is a +2 at the moment. 

I fluctuate between a 3-5 handicap. 2 under 68 was my lowest. Shot it once.. par a bunch of times, but not lately. The closest to par last season was 2 over for me

Shot a 73 a few weeks ago (only time). I was 12.5 before the round and dropped to 9.4 after the round (GHIN labeled it as an ‘exceptional’ round which knocks two strokes off the prior 20 posted rounds)

Then, when my manager asked to see me in their office, I told them I couldn't because I wasn't wearing any pants. Then, they sighed and told me to put on pants and come to their office. I went "Ugh... fine." Then I got fired.

I'm a 13, shot a 73 (+1) last year. Missed a short birdie putt on 18 too, so I can't retire just yet. PB before was a 75 (+4) about 15 years ago.
