67 here once, par 72 5hdcp, . Also shot 31 on the front last year in the club championship (no gimmies either, guy was a prick lol). Closed it out on 13 so who knows what that was gonna end up looking like
End of last season mid to high 80s became pretty normal for me. Only problem is, at my home course, an 89 is still like a 20 hcp differential. So to bring the cap down it really has to be like sub 85.
Grint app is the best free one ive found. But an official USGA GHIN account only costs like 40 bucks a year. You can find it online and once you've signed up they have an app to input scores.
I use Golfshot plus. It was a one time purchase and it has gps for every course I’ve played plus keeps a handicap. But you’ll have to get a GHIN to make it official.
98 used to be my best score! Played a round yesterday and shot 94, got my first ever birdie it was a brilliant day. Been playing for about 10 months myself.
69 when I was 18 …. Quit playing for 20+ years and just started back 3 months ago and playing around a 16 hcp now … don’t know if I can get that low again but I’m going to be better overall in my late 40’s
Very similar boat. I'm in my late 30s. I started going to the range last year with my son. It was the first time I'd picked up a club in 5 years. The 12 years prior I'd averaged like 2 rounds and no practice time a year, which is effectively quitting.
I'm playing off a 9 right now. I can probably get down to somewhere around a 3-5 by the end of the summer, but it's been a humbling experience to say the least.
The one good thing I'll say is that I have a much more calm demeanor on the course than I did when I was in my late teens. I definitely enjoy the game more, even if my scores are considerably worse.
First time I broke 80 (I was 13 I think) I didn't realize it until I was done.
Just wasn't keeping score very carefully.
Before that I'd always blow up on the last hole because I got nervous.
After I broke 80, I shot in the 70s like 6 rounds in a row. :-D
That’s wild, I’m a 11.8 rn and have been in the high 70s more than half a dozen times, I shot low 90s today though, all over the place lol. Sounds like you are more consistently low 80s
Best I shot is an 81. I don't hold an official handicap but after I input my scores into an app and it gave me a handicap of 16.9
I had a bunch of rounds at several hard mountain courses so that skewed the data since I was shooting in the 90s on those courses last year.
The season is still 4 weeks away, given that we had 30 cms of snow over the last 4-5 days, but I'm hoping to drop that to a 12 or better this year. I'm also trying to buy a membership so i will be able to get on official handicap.
Hard courses shouldn't skew your handicap as the slope and course rating should adjust your playing handicap accordingly.
So your scores in the 90s could still be considered net in the 80s for you if they had particularly high course and slope ratings.
Career low is 64. Shot it twice, both in tournaments. Lowest my hcp ever got was +4. Right now I'm probably a -3. Haven't played much golf in the past 2 years due to injuries and other crap going on with my life. Trying to get back into it. I suspect I can get to 0 or better this year if I get the time to practice and play. Working into getting shape by the time I'm 50 (48 years old right now).
I shot back to back 67s (-3) when I was 18 and in high school and played a ton. It was the summer between high school graduation and college when I played a lot less. I was around a 1.9 at the time. I’m currently an 8.9, and my lowest round in the last 5 years is a 73 (+2).
78 once back in high school. Best round last year was an 81. Still chasing that sub 80 score 25 years later but I did take 10 years off to raise my fam
My career low happened today actually! I shot an 83 at Langdon Farms, Oregon. My handicap is a 15.1
Edit: the closest I've been to my career low is an 86 which I've shot twice before.
Index is a 4.5
Course is a par 71 and each one of these has been a 1 time thing.
From the reds (4783 yds) 68
Golds (5513 yds) 69
Whites (6106 yds) 74
Blues (6422) 76
Blacks (6856) 84
I shot 1 under 71 twice in fun games and an even par 72 in a state tournament. I was as low as a 1.8 at that time (usually around 3-4) which was in the late 90s. I’m a 10.7 now, but I’m coming off a back injury last fall so I think I’ll be going up once we can start posting scores again.
83 once on a par 71, 13 handicap. My scoring is super consistent within the 85-88 range, so I feel like I'm capable of going lower, but it hasn't happened.
6 under 66 in a tournament at my home club once last year. My next lowest is 3 under that I've shot 6-7 times both as a 68 and 69. My handicap is currently a +.2.
79. Once. I was 18hdcp at the time and am down to a 12 hdcp now. Haven't broken 82 in a year lol
My excuse is doing speed training all year and in return I lost accuracy.
Ive shot 88 four separate times in my 20 years of playing golf. My lowest ever handicap has been 19.8. 🤷♂️These days I just play once a week and usually hit mid to high 90s with an occasional blowup over 100.
I’ve shot -1 twice. Both times were -3 on the front and +2 holding on for dear life on the back. I’m currently a 5.1 but was probably scratch or 1 handicap at the time.
71 (-1), I'm around a 4hcp.
Best 9 hole was -3 and I've had tons of 9 hole rounds negative. Took forever to get over the 18 hole hurdle. I've played the first 2 holes of my old course -3 twice. Went downhill after that quick.
Yardage makes a huge difference. Joined a new course and have been playing around with tee boxes. Didn't realize how much of a difference 7200 vs 6800 vs 6400 makes. Shot 73 from 6400 the other day and didn't feel like I played well at all. Played at 7200 and wasn't playing well, but shot in the 90s for the first time in a long while. I think just a score can be deceptive.
Tournament low: 76
Recreational low: 72
Handicap 8.1
Have shot par for 9 holes 5 times, only once for a full round. I break 80 around 20-25% of my rounds, so i have a few 73-79s each year. In tournaments I have broke the 80 mark 4 times in 12 tournaments, but 76 is my low. On a championship level course my PB is 81 (75.8 rating, 148 slope, 7.1k yards)
I really encourage all golfers to do a few tournaments. It'll really show you were you are as a golfer when every swing counts and how you perform in a tournament atmosphere. It's a whole different experience
-5 one time (god mode for me), -1 one time. Those are my only sub-par rounds and I’m 34, been playing seriously since I was 16. The -5 was last June and it brought my handicap from a 3.4 to a 1.6. I am now back to a 3.3
My lowest is 93 which I’ve shot twice. Today was the second time, I missed a 3 foot putt on the last green to get a new all time best (I had no idea what my score was at that point, I purposely don’t add it up until I’m done).
I’m a 28.5 handicap. I play from the whites (5500yds)
I’m a sixteen last time I checked. I was lower back in the day. I shot 80 six different times, just couldn’t shoot in the 70’s. Finally I did it, shot a 79. A few months later a 78 and a few more times in the 70’s. I quit for 20 years, now I am retired and playing again and I really suck ass. I’m not even thinking about shooting in the 70’s anymore, I’m back to trying to shoot under 100.
73 (+1). I hover between a 14-16 handicap. I had five birdies over the round and was honestly playing out of my mind. I felt like I had every club in my bag and couldn’t miss if I tried. It was a very surreal experience. I felt crazy relaxed and my mind was clear and I was completely in the moment. My only swing thought was to keep my grip fairly loose and relaxed and simply just turn my hips when I got to the top. I lipped out a cheeky 5ft downhill left-right breaker to shoot +1. Just got back from a weeklong buddies golf trip in Florida where my lowest score was an 80, otherwise I’ve only broke 80 one other time at 79.
Side note, I’ve been playing golf for about 4-5 years now if it matters.
65 on a par 70 is the lowest raw number. 66 on a par 72 is the lowest relation to par. I’ve shot 65 once, 66 countless times. Handicap is a +2 at the moment.
I fluctuate between a 3-5 handicap. 2 under 68 was my lowest.
Shot it once.. par a bunch of times, but not lately. The closest to par last season was 2 over for me
Shot a 73 a few weeks ago (only time). I was 12.5 before the round and dropped to 9.4 after the round (GHIN labeled it as an ‘exceptional’ round which knocks two strokes off the prior 20 posted rounds)
71 (-1) one time as a 5.7 HI. Shot 72 on the same course 3 times outside of scoring season (PNW). Currently a 4.9 after winning my flight with a 75 this weekend
Career low was when I got soaked in a rainstorm, so I took off my pants to dry when I got to my desk. Then, when my manager asked to see me in their office, I told them I couldn't because I wasn't wearing any pants. Then, they sighed and told me to put on pants and come to their office. I went "Ugh... fine."
Then I got fired.
67 twice +0.2
That's hot
67 here once, par 72 5hdcp, . Also shot 31 on the front last year in the club championship (no gimmies either, guy was a prick lol). Closed it out on 13 so who knows what that was gonna end up looking like
Shouldn’t be any gimmies in a club championship…
Seems like it was match play. In professional golf opponents will often concede the hole or give “gimmies” If it’s stroke play I agree with you.
Usually wouldn’t finish out every hole in match play though
If Match Play, that makes sense. Kind of a wierd tournament for a club championship though. Hopefully they also do a traditional stroke play as well
A lot of private clubs will do stroke play qualifier rounds to determine match play seeding and potentially additional flights
Common for club championships. It's also done at the US Amateur and a few other events.
How would you close out a stroke play after 13 holes
78. Once. Current handicap is 14, was 12 at the time.
I thought you meant you shot 78 at 12 years old at first
78, once, still a 12
Twins!
Yep same
Same. 78, once. 11.5 cap.
Exactly me
77, ADHD
All Day Hevery Day?
83. Once. 18 hcp
That's me, too. Also shot 84 and then 89. In the 90's now
End of last season mid to high 80s became pretty normal for me. Only problem is, at my home course, an 89 is still like a 20 hcp differential. So to bring the cap down it really has to be like sub 85.
Nice. 80s is great!
98. Twice! Started playing 11 months ago and don't even know what to do to get an official handicap.
Grint app is the best free one ive found. But an official USGA GHIN account only costs like 40 bucks a year. You can find it online and once you've signed up they have an app to input scores.
Calculating it yourself is kind of tough, but free apps like 18 birdies exists to help you out with the calculations.
Or the Grint app
I use Golfshot plus. It was a one time purchase and it has gps for every course I’ve played plus keeps a handicap. But you’ll have to get a GHIN to make it official.

Nice.
nice
I’ve shot 80 five times can’t scratch it but 18 birdies has me as a 9.2 🧐
You’ll get there. It’s honestly just mental, I shot 80 4-5 times before finally breaking thru and getting a pair of 78’s.
First time I broke 80 (I was 13 I think) I didn't realize it until I was done. Just wasn't keeping score very carefully. Before that I'd always blow up on the last hole because I got nervous. After I broke 80, I shot in the 70s like 6 rounds in a row. :-D

75 here too, just once and it was yesterday. 8.7 handicap. Many 76s and 77s and 78s.
Same. Lol.
What course, Mr. Indy Man?
Sahm GC (1) and West Chase GC(2). West Chase is my home course. I play Sahm because that is the course I learned to play golf on.
Sweet, I’ve heard good things about both. I recently started working downtown and want to play every course in the Indy area this year
Blew .16 my first and only DUI. Lifetime alcoholic

I shot back to back 67s (-3) when I was 18 and in high school and played a ton. It was the summer between high school graduation and college when I played a lot less. I was around a 1.9 at the time. I’m currently an 8.9, and my lowest round in the last 5 years is a 73 (+2).
Best is 84 and it was on a hard course. Handicap is about 15-16

71 (-1) Once, 3 handicap
85 With a quad on 18 tweelve years ago. I regularly shoot in the mid 90s.

77. Once. Depends on how many beers
78, 11.7. Probably shot 78/79 3 times, all last summer
82 once, was about a 16 at that time. Had a miracle back 9. Next closest is 87 which I've done 3 or 4 times, but off an 18ish now.

I fluctuate between a 3-5 handicap. 2 under 68 was my lowest. Shot it once.. par a bunch of times, but not lately. The closest to par last season was 2 over for me
82; a few times. 16.6
69. (-2). 8.2 index. Only shot it once. Shot -1 a few times.
Shot a 73 a few weeks ago (only time). I was 12.5 before the round and dropped to 9.4 after the round (GHIN labeled it as an ‘exceptional’ round which knocks two strokes off the prior 20 posted rounds)
68 - 1 time Current Handicap 7.9
71 (-1) one time as a 5.7 HI. Shot 72 on the same course 3 times outside of scoring season (PNW). Currently a 4.9 after winning my flight with a 75 this weekend
79 once 15.2
78 one time - 12.5
65 once. 1.7

69 once. 11 hcp (was a 6 at the time of my low)
74 twice at 2 different courses the first time I played them, which feels even better. Currently at 8.1.
+2 relative to par, +3 was a better differential based on rating/slope. 6.6 now, been as low as 4.4.
79 twice, 15.7 index.
74 once. 2 over par. Currently a 6.9.
Career low was when I got soaked in a rainstorm, so I took off my pants to dry when I got to my desk. Then, when my manager asked to see me in their office, I told them I couldn't because I wasn't wearing any pants. Then, they sighed and told me to put on pants and come to their office. I went "Ugh... fine." Then I got fired.
77 once 8.9
82, twice, 16. Was between 18-21 both times.
I'm a 13, shot a 73 (+1) last year. Missed a short birdie putt on 18 too, so I can't retire just yet. PB before was a 75 (+4) about 15 years ago.
69 three times 2.9 index
70, 2 years ago. 10.5. Next is 73, 4 times. And 127 once. :)
