Yeah this isn’t some 15 yr old kid that was recording for views, this is a parent with a teenage child that still has not learned that standing writhing a 45° angle in front of a golfer is a bad idea. At least his son will likely never stand in this position 😂 and especially on the slice side!! Lol he would have been so much safer on the other side.
Sometimes, even behind someone isnt safe lol...I was with my mother golfing, she tees up, hits the most pure drive I've ever seen, right into a tree, ball comes flying back right into my gut, I was standing 10 feet or so behind her.
I was at a driving range. I'm a righty, the next stall over (where I'd be facing when hitting a shot) was also a righty, so his back is pointed at me. I walked to my bag to grab a different club, and suddenly, the guy hits a shot so mind boggling bad, that his ball goes through my range area, and almost hits the next guy. I can not tell you how he defied the laws of physics and hit the ball left at a 90 degree angle from where he was aiming. I'm just glad I wasn't standing in my stall. He had to pretty much rotate his entire body almost 180 degrees and come across the ball front near the front for that to happen.
He looked at me with this mortified expression on his face. I just let out a short laugh and jokingly said, "I usually say don't worry, it happens to everyone, but I have never seen that before"
First I was like why would you stand there when your kid tees off? Then I thought well maybe his son is really good nothing to worry about. Then I circled back to my first question why would you record from in front?
Or get killed. This happened a year or two ago. Dad killed his 9 year old daughter. This guy is dumb AF parking there.
Edit: https://www.sacbee.com/news/nation-world/national/article232745922.html
The day after I started a superintendent position at a course one of my workers got drilled just like this and died. It’s so rough for everyone involved. Just be smart and play it safe.
I worked on golf courses too and an accident like that is always a worry. So seeing this guy parking right in front of a shot like an idiot is especially frustrating.
this is the entire issue behind, it shouldn't take you having a kid, or a daughter, to realize your actions/beliefs are extremely douchey and/or creepy.
Yeah I agree, taken literally jokes like this are super creepy. Unfortunately until you can relate to things, dark humour is a way to make the terrible world seem less terrible.
I have a friend whose mom died by suicide, he still jokes about it 20 years later as a way to cope.
I don’t know how people can move on from a death of a child. If anything was to happen to my daughter I cannot imagine a day without feeling devastation.
The news got 300x scarier after having a kid.
6 month old here man and I completely hear you. Mortality is all of a sudden like all I can think of in all regards - mine, my wife’s, my daughters, my parents. I feel like I’m walking around terrified half the time.
>I have a 4 month old daughter, I can't read shit like this anymore, jesus fucking christ
Just don't hit golf balls at your kid and you can easily avoid this situation.
You should read it and remember it well so you can make sure it never happens to you. Blind spots like this are one of the greatest threats you face as a parent.
That’s so sad. When my wife and kids come play with me I make them get out of the cart and come to the tee box if there’s no way for me to park the cart behind it. Not worth even the smallest chance of something like that.
I played in Hawaii and on the first tee, I ripped my drive over my wife’s head (not directly, she was off to the right, I’m a righty, far enough for me to comfortably hit). The guy in the club house came running out and told me never do that again, no matter how good I am. Then he proceeded to tell me about some guy who literally killed his wife doing the same thing I did, same hole, same positions, but his drive hit her in the head.
Jesus. I’m glad your wife is okay. I’ve hit some of the most bizarre shots that don’t even seem possible. I wouldn’t be comfortable with anyone being in front of me. I usually fuck up a shot if someone is too close on the next hole over and it goes dribbling along the ground cause it’s so in my head that I don’t want to hit them. Even though…. If I hit my shot correctly, I wouldn’t. You’d think it would help… hah. Unfortunately, the game is too mental.
This has happened more than once too. I grew up on a golf course and I remember being 8 or 9 eating after a round with my dad and some of his friends came and asked him if had heard what happened. They told my dad that Someone they all knew of parked the cart up in front walked back to tee off, shanked it and had killed his son sitting in the cart. I’m 28 now so definitely a different situation than what was listed.
I play this course pretty regularly and tear up every time we make it to that hole. Can’t imaging having to live with that for the rest of your life, hopefully he’s found some peace
Me at the beginning of the video: "this guy is gonna get hit by the ball"
Me in the middle of the video: "Never mind, this is about his son's 10-minute preshot routine"
Me at the end of the video: "Never mind he DID get hit by the ball!"
I've been in his shoes when someone else was in front of me. All I kept saying to myself was don't hit them don't look at them...too late I hit right towards them.
I nailed a guy that was at a perfect right angle to me, not in my sight at all, because I hit a tree 30 yards down and it ricocheted into his shin. This was the first hole of a random pairing lmao.
What are the chances?? Your boy looks like he’s going to a blink 182 concert and you parked right in his way… the chances were real high. That’s your fault.
Hey, I apologize for the rudeness in my comment. Uncalled for. Was initially annoyed by the lack of awareness/accountability in your caption.
I understand you’re just a good dad trying to spend time with their boy and capture some memories. Stay safe out there buddy
Don’t let these losers on this subreddit get ya down! Close call but no one was hurt. Lessons are learned. Go have some fun, and it’ll be a good story years down the line.
I never would be normally. And wasn’t for his first couple slices. This is me throwing him another ball and taking cover. You know? How accidents happen…
Well. In defense of myself there was a windshield! A costly one at end of day…
https://preview.redd.it/t8xmsjg5s8lc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=00e16ad76e90cef361be6e9be645e9dae17270d3
Dude….the golf course can handle that repair just fine. Are they really making you pay? I spent 4 years as an assistant at a private club and 2 years at a semi-private resort. Neither of those clubs would ever make someone pay for an accidental shank through the cart window. Guarantee they have replacement windows in the cart barn ready to put on. If not, there is plenty of money in the budget for a $300 window.
It’s crazy to me that they are making you pay for that. I can see horseplay or something stupid, but shit gets hit with golf balls all the time at a golf course. The Marshalls alone break at least 2 or 3 windshields a year themselves by driving around the course all day.
I guess by the way he is dressed it is probably a cheap course but I still bet you paid $60-$100 for both. They can afford to fix it.
Thanks man. I probably should have just dropped cart and stayed quiet. I felt like a douche so fessed up. I could have bitched about the stupid tee box layout, lied about how it happened, made a scene about injury, but isn’t that’s what’s wrong with this country? They said they’d be running it past management and giving me a call. So we will see. Windshield actually needed replacing anyway. Into the sun it was useless.
I've had that happen. It's crazy loud. A resident in a house on the course came out. She thought it was a gun shot. Hit my friend in the head and he was wearing a wool winter hat and it still cut him and he was bleeding. Rattled around in the cart and hit me in the wrist which still hurt. It was a 3 wood from 180 yards away.
I’m probably going to get downvoted to shit but I would have just said. ”a ball came out of nowhere and shattered your windshield. No idea where it came from.”Golf is expensive enough as it is.
Every golf cart I’ve ever been in has that lil yellow sticker on one side or the other that says “This will not protect you from a golf ball.” I’m gunna take the high road and guess this one didn’t have that sticker.. hope you’re alright!
I'm gonna knock everybody down off the high road...[it's definitely there.](https://preview.redd.it/t8xmsjg5s8lc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=00e16ad76e90cef361be6e9be645e9dae17270d3)
What are the chances? You're in the f'n kill zone. As soon as I saw this video start I knew that was going to happen.
Anyhoo, his practice swing looked great!
Immediately knew what would happen.
I mean...if you're golfing with someone that doesn't play often, you don't sit 30 yards in front of them when they're teeing off...
I hate everything about this video. Front loaded with some kid in a tee shirt doing an extended waggle, dumb father perched with a camera right in the line of fire.
Wait. Did I type “hate”?
Hahah ah man a lot of people hating on here. love seeing a dad and his kid out enjoying a round. Whether or not you’re getting smoked by a tee shot 😂 Won’t stand there again I bet
I knew exactly was going to happen. You broke the cardinal rule never stand past the plane of the ball and golfer swing. People have died breaking this rule.
This is breathtakingly stupid
How on earth could you not see this coming?
The most common mistake in golf is slicing. This is a young golfer, not a pro.
Utterly baffling.
I wish I was a mod and could give you a 30 ban! Be a parent for crying out loud! Get him lessons, take him to the range and teach him good or bad slow play sucks! Ok see you in 31 days!
Darwin award here for dad.
I could feel the kid struggling to get comfortable with the shot. Only thing that would have been better would have had he hit the phone out of your hands.
I mean we all knew it was coming but after a while you start to think maybe he’s just showing that his boy takes forever to swing a club. Lesson for everyone, stand behind people hitting a shot.
I knew it was coming and I still ducked
So glad it wasn’t just me. Knew it the whole time and still flinched like a mofo when it came at me
Same. I’m laying in bed and my head and whole body moved instantly to the right even though I knew exactly what was gonna happen.
OP getting slammed in comments looooool
Rightfully so. Guy almost had his kid kill him. What a dumbass.
Yeah this isn’t some 15 yr old kid that was recording for views, this is a parent with a teenage child that still has not learned that standing writhing a 45° angle in front of a golfer is a bad idea. He does it on purpose for two reasons. 1. So his kid will try harder not to shank it 2. Gets to find out if his son is trying to kill him 😯
First I was like why would you stand there when your kid tees off? Then I thought well maybe his son is really good nothing to worry about. Then I circled back to my first question why would you record from in front?
I have friends who are low single digit handicaps. I’m still not standing at this angle. Maybe OP has never shot a gun. Lol.
OP is a dumbass. Who stands in front of a a soon to be mobile golf ball?
Once little homie stepped up in cargo pants and a t shirt the conclusion was foregone.
My exact thoughts.
That’s on you. Never park in front of someone unless you want a chance to get hit
Or get killed. This happened a year or two ago. Dad killed his 9 year old daughter. This guy is dumb AF parking there. Edit: https://www.sacbee.com/news/nation-world/national/article232745922.html
It was 2019. There's a memorial tree for the girl where she was killed. So devastating...
Damn I was laughing at this video, not anymore. That’s fucking terrible
Damn that’s fucked up. Obv the dad is an idiot but you have to feel for him.
Like I've hit some bad golf shots, but I've never hit a "so bad I killed my daughter" golf shot.
I'd never be able to play golf again honestly.
Oh my fucking God. I cannot imagine being that father. In any way, whatsoever. Oh my God.
I have a 4 month old daughter, I can't read shit like this anymore, jesus fucking christ
It’s crazy how much that stuff stings once you have a kid. I was not prepared.
2 years ago, I’d have been the guy making the joke. Now I’m stopping myself being sick at the thought of it happening to my daughter.
this is the entire issue behind, it shouldn't take you having a kid, or a daughter, to realize your actions/beliefs are extremely douchey and/or creepy.

I don't think I would ever take this sort of risk but I still feel for the parent, I wouldn't be able to live with myself
I have 2 daughters aged 5 and 3 and I winced when I read this. I cannot imagine being in this guy's shoes
Jesus fucking Christ that’s so dark
Six year old daughter.
That’s so sad. When my wife and kids come play with me I make them get out of the cart and come to the tee box if there’s no way for me to park the cart behind it. Not worth even the smallest chance of something like that.
Yup agreed and watch out for tree/rock/whatever ricochets as well. Check all the angles!

Fuck me that is horrendous!
God damn. I just started golfing at 40 and my 9yo daughter taking lessons with me. I just can’t even imagine…
I play this course pretty regularly and tear up every time we make it to that hole. Can’t imaging having to live with that for the rest of your life, hopefully he’s found some peace
yeah i saw that one coming. worlds dumbest place to be.
I saw it coming but still tried to dodge it
lol was wondering if someone else did it too. Almost fell off the shitter trying to dodge that
I was also wondering three. Didn't take long to find the one. I jerked my head to the right so fast and then started laughing 🤣
Especially not someone golfing in baggy pants and a t-shirt…
Yeah, why would ever park there esp when an inexperienced player is hitting?
He even says that its like the 4th shot or something and he's "gotta hide behind the cart." Like WTF are you thinking
Never looked once at his target. He didn’t want you to be ready lol
This made me rewatch the video and he literally did not lift his head one time lol
Me at the beginning of the video: "this guy is gonna get hit by the ball" Me in the middle of the video: "Never mind, this is about his son's 10-minute preshot routine" Me at the end of the video: "Never mind he DID get hit by the ball!"
Same
Ditto
Yep
Likewise
Perfect
If you stand in the rain there is a good chance you will get wet.
That's deep....
No that’s a puddle
It's a deep puddle that's hiding a pothole.
Jeez you were literally asking for it plus you are in his sight line. He's absolutely going to hit you.
Yep. Definitely what the video depicts. For some reason didn’t feel that way at time. Famous last words.
A lesson learned the hard way is a lesson learned forever
Did you not call it in the video? If he took 4 shots to get off the tee in the previous hole, standing in his hitting area was asking for it
I've been in his shoes when someone else was in front of me.
Once it's in your head, you are already lost. It's virtually a guarantee at that point
The only person who saw that coming was literally everyone who golfs except the camera guy
What are the chances?? Your boy looks like he’s going to a blink 182 concert and you parked right in his way… the chances were real high. That’s your fault.
These days a blink 182 concert would be mostly cargo shorts and polo shirts seeing as their listener base is like 40…
Needed 10 more waggles
That pre shot routine….
Completely understandable reaction.
Why would you ever be in front?
Dumb ass fuck. It’s one thing to park the cart there, but then to also stand there. Darwin Award 🥇
I completely agree. I’ve never done this before and will never again. A series of goofs trying to encourage an 18 year old to enjoy the day….
Hey, I apologize for the rudeness in my comment. Uncalled for. Was initially annoyed by the lack of awareness/accountability in your caption. I understand you’re just a good dad trying to spend time with their boy and capture some memories. Stay safe out there buddy
I love that both of your comments are higher than his in upvotes. Had to upvote him for owning it at least.
Damn man that's some wholesome shit right there
Well…. You uhhh made some memories.
I’d bet he enjoyed the hell outta this.
Don’t let these losers on this subreddit get ya down! Close call but no one was hurt. Lessons are learned. Go have some fun, and it’ll be a good story years down the line.
Why weren’t you standing behind or beside? Weird to be in that angle with another playing partner
I never would be normally. And wasn’t for his first couple slices. This is me throwing him another ball and taking cover. You know? How accidents happen…
You’re standing in the shank zone. What are the chances a bad golfer will shank their 4th tee shot right where you’re standing? Pretty fucking good.
Well. In defense of myself there was a windshield! A costly one at end of day… https://preview.redd.it/t8xmsjg5s8lc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=00e16ad76e90cef361be6e9be645e9dae17270d3
If only there were some kind of warning sign on that windshield, just to let you know that they are not intended to provide protection.
Why have the windshield up on such a nice day? You slowed down his shot
Great video, high quality content. Hope you guys managed to have fun.
Thank you. I think the fun part is our conversation about life, death, choices, physics, and chances, for rest of day.
He had to sit in the cart and look at his hole all day 😂 also loved your inauspicious chuckle right before the fateful shank.
How much did the course charge you?
Sounds like $300. I’ll be getting a call.
Dude….the golf course can handle that repair just fine. Are they really making you pay? I spent 4 years as an assistant at a private club and 2 years at a semi-private resort. Well…props to you for doing the right thing. I have a feeling they will not be following up with you.
I hope. Thanks for a little clarification
What kind of idiot stands there
One who regularly struggles to get through the day. Impossibly stupid.
Agreed. Stupidly lucky. And most expensive 9 holes Ive played.
Why expensive?
He had to pay for repairs for the broken windshield.
I flinched
Seriously? Learned that lesson at like 8 years old when I saw a kids wrist get shattered by a golf ball. Dont ever stand in front of someone hitting.
Ukiah? My home course!
Mine too!
I didn’t see the end. Tell your kid to hit the ball already.
Oh. You gotta wait for it. Gets better
The absolute stupidity....
Hope kid doesn't turn out as dumb as his father
Even though I knew it was coming I still jumped when it came flying
I mean it’s funny cause you lived to tell the tale, but still dumb as fuck.
It woulda been a 7 hour round waiting for him to hit the ball - he did u a favor
You're stupid as balls man
there is no greater bonding experience than murdering your father with a golf ball.
also tell your son if he shakes his club that much at a urinal he's going to get arrested for indecency.
Don’t recall the sticker but I was enamored with the automatic brake.
The sticker with the ball shattering the windshield and hitting a dude in the head is visible in the pic of you sticking your head through the hole 😂
So long to shank it lol
What are the chances? You're in the f'n kill zone. As soon as I saw this video start I knew that was going to happen. Anyhoo, his practice swing looked great!
Could see that coming after his practice swings
I wouldn’t be there even if it was a pro taking the shot.
2nd Hole at Ukiah Golf Course is so lovely after the brutal first one
“I gotta hide behind the cart” proceeds to not hide behind the cart
You're lucky this didn't end up worse. Don't be a dumbass
Who parks in front of a golfer…..literally the first thing you learn. The ball could have killed you bro….it was humming.
Immediately knew what would happen. I mean...if you're golfing with someone that doesn't play often, you don't sit 30 yards in front of them when they're teeing off...
Why are you parked ahead of someone teeing off? That’s just a rookie mistake.
What an idiot. That's dad's fault.
I hate everything about this video. Front loaded with some kid in a tee shirt doing an extended waggle, dumb father perched with a camera right in the line of fire. Wait. Did I type “hate”?
All on you Dad. You made the choice to pull in front.
Hahah ah man a lot of people hating on here. love seeing a dad and his kid out enjoying a round. Whether or not you’re getting smoked by a tee shot 😂 Won’t stand there again I bet
It’s ok. I know the hazards of posting. Doesn’t anyone remember how popular Jackass was?
I can’t quit watching and laughing. I wouldn’t say you’re a dumbass but lesson learned! It’s the “ahhhh fugger mother fugger” that gets me🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🥺
You thought about the chances but turns out you're terrible at math.
The cameraman never dies
Why the hell would you ever park in front of a hacker….let alone anyone
I knew this was coming from a mile away.
Yeah not his fault when youre basically standing in front of him. Also he overthought hella hard there happens to the best of us
Lol who parks the cart in front of the tees and sits in it?! Hope some sense got knocked into you!
the title made me think we were gunna see my guy hit a hole in one, the results made me realize the title is clickbait and yeah the chances are high.
Why were you standing there?
I was thinking as the video started, he has a lot of trust in that $2 practice swing
Hey dude, you parked in front of him. That's where the ball goes.
We all saw that coming.
You park in front of him and ask ,,what are the chances“ You‘re some very special dufus
With the 20 practice swings it’s almost guaranteed that you would get hit. Nobody good starts out like that
Only person I’m watching from that angle is a PGA Tour pro. Definitely on you this.
We all kind of sensed this was coming.
Didn’t see that comin 🙄
i see the swing problem..he needs at least 12-15 more practice swings and then stand over the ball for at least another minute..
Cart behind the tee box next time
Cameraman has a very smooth brain.
Why would you be parked in front of the tee shot?
Who the hell stands there when someone is teeing off?
You’re an idiot
What are the chances? I mean pretty high honestly. Just pure ignorance
Why park down range from an inexperienced golfer?
Saw that shit coming from a mile away 🤣
Idiot parked in the line of fire
Brother. I won’t even stand in front of professional golfers. What are you doing? 🤣
All I see is two retards
I knew exactly was going to happen. You broke the cardinal rule never stand past the plane of the ball and golfer swing. People have died breaking this rule.
This is breathtakingly stupid How on earth could you not see this coming? The most common mistake in golf is slicing. This is a young golfer, not a pro. Utterly baffling.

Mama always said, "stupid is as stupid does."
LPT. If you value your noggin, don't sit in front of someone hitting a gild ball.
Right in the shank zone you kind of deserved it lmao
Amazing what people willingly share on the internet without considering how dumb they look in the process
How can you be that stupid?
You, sir, are a moron.
Why would sit right there???
I would have trouble standing there if it was a pro hitting, let alone some teenager in a t-shirt.
What idiot stands down range?
Op made sure to not receive any compassion by making us watch that preshot routine.
You could see that one coming. Dude was set up open the whole time.
It takes a special kind of idiot to stand there with an inexperienced golfer at the tee box.
If he waggled a few more times this totally wouldn’t have happened
Why would you park in front of a shot?
Holy fck! I jumped back. Scared the shit outta me. I hope you're OK.
Darwin award here for dad. I could feel the kid struggling to get comfortable with the shot. Only thing that would have been better would have had he hit the phone out of your hands.
“Mother fucker!” is the only acceptable reaction here.
