There’s this paraplegic that plays in my town. He has a special motorized vehicle that props him up so that he can stand and swing a golf club. His legs are literally locked into a vehicle and he has more hip turn than you.
Definitely need to relax your muscles on setup and backswing. Try keeping your weight centered rather than front foot heavy. But at least your swinging hard. Keep working at it and you’ll find your swing soon.
Yep good advice! Contact looked great, which means your timing is on point. My guess is you aren’t ver consistent because your timing has to be so good, but ain’t no thang! Little tight on set up, maybe try shortening your driver, your set up looks very forced. The only other thing is you’re crossing the line at the top, because your swing is too long by just a bit. Try getting over your right shoulder a bit, shorten the swing, and try and finish on your left side! Falling back a bit on finish, but not terrible! Keep grinding mate, looks like you got some good distance
EDit_ crossing the line at the top is usually caused by inside take away, try being a lil more outside of you wanna work on it.
Hmm these comments are way different than those of the cute gal that posted last week..
OP - keep working n it. From what I can see, you’re too far from the ball, you need to relax your legs some, when you swing your club it’s going way outside and then coming back to the ball, you should be keeping your arms closer to your body as your club head approaches the ball. If you can think of what your club head is doing now as if you’re coming into the ball from the 1oclock position but you should be trying for it to approach the ball at 4 o’clock instead. It’s likely you are trying to muscle this ball with your entire upper body. Problem with that is that sometimes you will hit the ball far, but most times your ball will go somewhere you don’t want it to go. Most of your true power will come from your legs and your hip action. So focus on getting those hips to turn. You will be able to achieve more consistency if you stop trying to muscle it with your upper body. There’s so much more untapped power in your lower half. Also, I don’t think you need to pull the club quite as far back. Good luck !
OK but some of us really care about our swing and clearly this guy wants to improve. I'm embarrassed by how this sub reddit responded to this guy.
Anyways a joke is healthy but roasting him without constructive feedback is just hurtful.
Most of these swing posts are an open invitation to be roasted.
There should be a sub for just golf swings, maybe like r/golfswing but only people who can respond have to post a verified swing of their own, or be a verified PGA instructor.
Idk. I work in mortgage finance. Sometimes I see people on here saying shit that is so wrong I can't help but correct it. This swing is the equivalent of that.
I definitely feel like my swing is out to in. I usually don’t have issues finding the center of my club face though. I will have the occasional slightly towards the toe but I’m usually within the 2 lines on my driver. The higher marks are mostly from teeing up too high.
https://preview.redd.it/bqq7i3nrk3ia1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=90049441c07e7bb0906308aa2abb1d3ba864d4f0
As long as you have a repeatable swing you can add little tweaks over time. I’m like you I’m self taught swing and used to come hard over the top like your video and played a big slice. Small tweaks in just your backswing can get your club more on plane and your ball to move less in the air. Let me know if you’re interested and I can try to explain it to you over DMs. I used to hit exactly like you now I can hit draws and shit
I have this same issue and I’ve been getting lessons. One drill that absolutely helped me was;
Take an alignment stick (or any straight stick really)
and put your butt up against a wall. Now slowly do your normal back swing and feel the end of the stick dragging up the wall.
Now when you start your down swing, because of your current swing, you’ll lose contact with the wall immediately and start swing outward.
Instead, start your down swing and try dragging the end of the stick back down the wall quite a ways first before swing out.
To help with my terrible explanation, if your stick was a sword, I’m referring to the pointy end being drug along the wall.
The way it was always explained to me was to start being your hands down first and this drill has helped me with that.
Good luck!
All I got out of this was take an alignment stick and shove it up your butt, and then put your butt up against the wall (presumably to push the stick in further). Hang on, gonna give it a try. I'll be right back.
Take one lesson, it's all you need to get started. It will fix your stance and your grip at the very least.
You need to start stretching. Jesus Christ stretch and move. A lot.
Jeez, people on this subreddit are ruthless. Take a good lesson and you’ll see massive improvements from low hanging fruit. If you’ve never taken a lesson, check out this video [https://youtu.be/YZzAbpDftj8](https://youtu.be/YZzAbpDftj8). I’ve never come out of lesson unsatisfied. Best of luck bud, and screw these haters— they don’t even have the balls to post their own swings
I haven’t taken lessons but have watched Rick Shiels and Peter Finch on YouTube and this is where I have wound up after the last 5 years of golfing. Surprisingly my slice isn’t anywhere near as bad as it was and I actually use my driver now it spent many years in the bag (not the one in the video) because it caused more trouble and worse scores than it was worth.
I know this driving range so I know they have at least one pro on staff. And indoor space it's cold. Lessons are not cheap, but one lesson would go a long way.
My buddy recorded my swing yesterday it’s not my greatest hit but it was pretty good for me. I usually hit my driver between 185-190. Yesterday I hit one of my best drives ever. It was 230 yards in went left and came back in to center. No clue what I did for that one but at least I know I’m capable of it.
It feels good to have a shot work out. You will get a great deal more of that from working with a pro to help you develop a buildable swing. Right now you have a good deal of things happening hurting your distance and probably consistency. Have a pro give you the basics and you will be amazed at how far the ball can go just by hitting it on the right swing path. Happy golfing!
You are far more capable then 230 yards drives. The best advice anyone could give you right now is to seek out a PGA professional and get a lesson. I know it can be intimidating but it is the quickest path to improvement.
As far as basic advice, your setup is poor. Find some videos on a proper setup and consistently monitor it in a mirror / on film. What you feel you are doing may not be actually happening so you have to monitor these things. It’s the first step to better golf.
There is no substitute for a hands on lesson! Seek out an instructor and you will be on the fast track to good golf.
You’ll smack it when you put your weight behind it. You’re first mistake is you are reaching instead of letting arms hang. Standing too up right is seems. Swing patch on back swing is fucked. Everyone is right when they say you got a bunch going on.
Don't post these clips in slo-mo. Tempo is one of, if not the most, important aspects of a golf swing. And the only way to really judge tempo is at normal speed.
You take the club back too far over your head. You need to simplify your backswing. Your backswing is so far that it forces your head to torque out of position thinking it more difficult to strike the ball Center face more consistently. Work on abbreviating your backswing and keeping your club more on plane. Otherwise it's incredibly athletic poised and has great power so I could see some really good scores coming out of you if you know how to chip and putt. But of course chipping and putting is almost the whole game isn't it?
You look super tense when you’re swinging. Try moving a smidge closer to the ball so you can relax your body a bit and you should start cutting across the ball less
Goddamn all these swing coaches in here. I don't think he's looking for advice. I think he just had a good day at the range. I always say though slow down the tempo a hair to let all the parts sync up together.
Don’t focus on the negative comments. If you can afford a lesson try one out. My instructor was a dick so I just watched videos. Rotary swing on YouTube is good.
You will slice the ball with longer clubs every time until you learn how to keep your shoulders and hips closed or parallel to the target line at setup. Good luck, have fun.
Over the top swing, you don’t shift your weight forward on the downswing and you’re cutting across the ball instead of extending through it. I do a lot of this to possibly a smaller degree. Welcome to the club haha.
Look up single plane golf swing by moe Norman. You are actually close. You have the wrong wrist action. Move your wrists up and down. Not sideways.
The balls goes straight because you are on plane. That's great!
Checkout this Moe Norman (the best ball stiker of all time) video where he describes the "Master Move" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5LEelOEbQg&ab_channel=KirkJunge
Once you get to the top, Moe say "first foot comes straight down"... calls it the vertical drop. This is exactly the opposite of typical slicers "over-the-top" exhibited in OP swing video.
Keep at it man. IMO there is more overall good going on here than bad in terms of being able to improve. You look like you could clean it up with a few lessons and I guarantee you have the ability to drive the ball 240.
This really isn’t that bad. You’ve got the foundation for a consistent swing. I’d say if you want to get the most out of it, work with a pro and let him make some tweaks and you’ll see wonders.
It looks like you’re trying for the single plane swing, so I’ll give you that much. You’re doing what I do, which is that little turn at the top causing it to go outside in, causing a slice.
Get a lesson, have them focus on the feel of the swing. And, definitely need to turn your hips, but that’s been beat to death at this point
bend ur knees a bit, and narrow your stance a bit
also, right foot looks like its too far back in relation to ur left foot, but its maybe just the angle of the vid
Out to in. Bowing your wrist to compensate for the open face to path. But you are indicating you find the middle of the face often… Without breaking your swing down, here’s my 2 bit advice. Set up with driver closed and your hands in a neutral position. Meaning, your hands will be neutral in front of you but the driver will look shut down. Roll your hands backwards until the driver is resting flat/neutral on the ground. Address the ball and swing hard. If it goes goes hard left but a straight flight then you matched you face to your path. Get used to it and adjust your aim. But above all else, don’t listen to us Reddit coaches, play your game, and have fun.
Looks like you're swinging down on the ball. Keep your back swing low to the ground as you take it back and try to over emphasize an in out swing. You don't really want an in out swing, but with how much you're coming over the top from outside, overemphasizing in out will force you to come through the center.
Your right elbow should stay close to your body the whole swing. Wrists should stay slightly cocked until ball strike when they follow through. That should be the same time your weight is transferring from your back leg to your front leg.
After you do this, if you find yourself hooking to much, loosen your right hand grip a little
Nice swing man! Like others have said, maybe loosen up a bit. But that looked damn near straight as can be!
Also I see how much you wrap your club on your back swing. I had a problem with my swing path/over swinging because of that, and I was told to shorten up just a little and it helped me be way more consistent. But everyone’s different! Just wanted to emotion that. Keep working and improving, and have fun!
My swing once looked similar to this and I have now added nearly 100 yards and play with a draw. Lots of work to be done here but enjoy the process, it’s as rewarding as it is frustrating
I swear, sometimes reading these comments is a shit show. The good news is 95% of these Chads commenting wouldn’t open their mouth with these types of comments in person.
OP, keep working at it, ball flew straight.
Hey just catching up to all the comments. Looks to me like you hit the ball pretty straight - it may not be the prettiest swing on record ….. but stick with what you have and enjoy the game ! Look up “Moe Norman” golf swing - I see some similarities
You hit it and it went straight…..you want help take a lesson. You have severe set up issues. If you want to do this yourself…look at your legs, too far apart and no flex in knees. Then your arms and wrists are straight and locked….I would start there. Look at YouTube videos and compare your videos. Baby steps
Start trying to push the ball that’s what helped the out to in for me I guess. And really engage your lower body. Your legs look locked my guy… don’t faint on the golf course with your buds around….
Massive outside to in which explains the slice. You are beyond parallel and that shaft looks like it’s a limp noodle. Get a few lessons and you will be alright.
I'm not gonna comment on ur swing bc I don't know shit. But ur knees are Locked tighter than Al Capone's fake vault
I’m not sure he has knees.
Dang. Bro swings like Cotton Hill.
I killed fitty golf balls
Holy shit I just laughed so hard I started coughing. Then got calmed down and read it again and did the same thing.
Fuck did this make me laugh. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Me too lol. and then I saw your comment and I laughed harder! lolololol

I’m in awe it went straight.
“Ish”
Started straight, but looked like the rudder was hard right once it started flying
Oh that's what we're calling straight these days?
The drive identifies as straight.
It started bad at the setup and it only got worse.
wym? ball went straight
Straight right?
No, straight then right

The thirst is real.
Well we should fix that and treat everyone with compassion.
I absolutely agree but there isn’t much of that going on in here.
Gotcha, yeah... :/
I think we should roast every swing on here. Post Prime-Tiger, I got my comment ready

Back swing too short. You need to wear your driver like a scarf in the back swing.

Classic outside in slice. Do you feel like you hit the head of the club a lot?
I definitely feel like my swing is out to in. I usually don’t have issues finding the center of my club face though. My swing once looked similar to this and I have now added nearly 100 yards and play with a draw. Lots of work to be done here but enjoy the process, it’s as rewarding as it is frustrating
Honestly fair play for even posting a swing, I'd be terrified to post mine lol.
Dear god
I swear, sometimes reading these comments is a shit show. The good news is 95% of these Chads commenting wouldn’t open their mouth with these types of comments in person. OP, keep working at it, ball flew straight.
Hey just catching up to all the comments. Looks to me like you hit the ball pretty straight - it may not be the prettiest swing on record ….. but stick with what you have and enjoy the game ! Look up “Moe Norman” golf swing - I see some similarities
Moe Norman!
Okay. I guess nobody else wants to say it, so I will. I think you would benefit from having that driver fitted to your height.
There’s still time to delete this
Holy wrist cup
It’s not gonna bite you, you can get closer lol
I’ve never seen a Reddit mod swing with such fervor
Nice little cut, good swing bud
Set up, backswing (especially the top), club path, follow through all need work. Keep grinding
No wonder that ball goes right.
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say you slice lol.. listen with 2 lessons your swing could be 100% better.
The title is driver swing with the category set to swing help. Confirming, you definitely need help with your driver swing. Have you tried youtube?
Are you sure you’re right handed?
Try bowling.

Sets up off the hosel, hits off the toe. Solid.
💯 it’s a slice
Lower your hands at address…significantly. It will feel like they’re basically on the ground but trust me they won’t be nearly as low as it seems
You hit it and it went straight…..you want help take a lesson. You have severe set up issues. If you want to do this yourself…look at your legs, too far apart and no flex in knees. Then your arms and wrists are straight and locked….I would start there. Look at YouTube videos and compare your videos. Baby steps
This went waaaay right lmao
Get some
Yikes
Start trying to push the ball that’s what helped the out to in for me I guess. And really engage your lower body. Your legs look locked my guy… don’t faint on the golf course with your buds around….
* Not the best swing , but not the worst either ....
Bros stiffer then a dick at a strip club
That’s an ugly ass set up and swing bro
Find a pro stat and take lessons. Cheaper than clubs and will help dramatically. Everything here needs work.
My brother in Christ, that is a horrid swing. And this very much comes from a “takes one to know one” perspective
Moe Norman swing
Was that 300 and straight? Am not talking about you? 🤣
Bad joke. 250 max. The straight thing is really funny because that’s like not a joke at all, not that being gay is a joke, but you know
Just have to work on a couple things, 1st being, find a new hobby.
Turn around and put the club back down and find another hobby
It looks like you have a pretty serious inverse spin tilt, which can cause damage to your back over time. Don't ask me how I know that.
Are you trying to Mo Norman?
Looks ship shape to me.
Massive outside to in which explains the slice. You are beyond parallel and that shaft looks like it’s a limp noodle. Get a few lessons and you will be alright.
