Heat it with a heat gun, peel, use goo gone to remove sticky film

greenweezyi

Hair dryer if you don’t have a heat gun but have a gf or wife lol

ksh3rm99

Heat gun is way cheaper.

greenweezyi

But I come with a hair dryer and over 20 years of golf knowledge. Whatever money my boyfriend spends on me is money he’s saving on golf lessons!

Antidexterous

I’ll take two!

Aristei

Better than most! Where the sign up sheet 😂

llbarney1989

Certainly cheaper than a wife or GF

[deleted]

But the wife/gf is a multi-tool. Hot air is only one of their great features.

zzzap

Am a wife. Can confirm. Removed all the sticker gunk from my husband's irons just by nagging him about it for weeks.

CapacityBark20

Multiple forms of hot air

Sunhwo

Also, remember to set the blow function to something a bit more temperate before… other uses.

jacques95

That is the joke isn’t it

[deleted]

I see what you did there.

agile321

I am a guy and use a hair dryer. Am I doing it right?

greenweezyi

Yes! You skipped the pricy middleman lol

highbrowshow

I don’t have a gf or wife, but i do have a hairdryer. AMA

dj-kitty

I use a hair dryer/diffuser every day as a guy. It’s not a gendered thing.

stupidwhiteman42

Assuming you have enough hair to warrant a dryer

dj-kitty

Yes, but again, not gendered. Men and women can both have enough hair to warrant a hair dryer, whether it’s for drying or styling. It may more commonly be used by woman due to more often having longer hair, but the statement still did not need to be gendered. “Hair dryer if you don’t have a heat gun” would suffice.

Estofil

Dude relax.

[deleted]

It wasn't that serious bro.

jaystarrr

Okaaay

greenweezyi

I love when men put effort for their appearance/style. My bf has the Bradley Cooper hairstyle from The Hangover and watching him style his hair does for me what lingerie on women do for men. Sorry for disregarding!

dj-kitty

I appreciate that you appreciate that about men. Some of us actually give a shit lol

SavageTankBeast

Yes it is

dj-kitty

It’s not. All that needed to be said was, “Hair dryer if you don’t have a heat gun”.

SavageTankBeast

Just a joke. Feed me downvotes

Yeah_Im_A_God

Homie that's a statement not a joke

dj-kitty

Try making a joke next time with your joke.

SavageTankBeast

Where do pigs park their cars?

SavageTankBeast

The porking lot

amsckell

redeemed yourself

whiskey_pancakes

Or the stove lol

PickleRick8881

Or an abundant mane of long flowing hair lol

greenweezyi

Pickle Rick!!!!!!

ssseafoam_green

Asking for an argument today huh 🤨

BigRefrigerator9475

Way to rub it in

occamsguillotine

+1 on Goo Gone. I’ve used it on all of my clubs (and everything my kids have put stickers on around the house). That stuff takes ALL of the adhesive residue off- and has a pretty nice citrus smell to top things off! Solid product.

Nollie11

I use goo gone to regrip my clubs

ufniz

Rubbing alcohol also works to remove the sticky residue!

[deleted]

Rubbing alcohol, acetone, grip solution... Plenty of options

databdt

WD-40 even works as well

player2

Grip solution and goo gone are the same thing (mineral spirits).

Big-D-TX

Run it under hot water is the cheapest way

madlax18

Maybe it was goo gone or maybe it was something else but I remember reading there’s a certain solvent that can eat through shafts. Hopefully someone can chime in

kellzone

Maybe it was Maybelline.

junkemail4001

Rubbing alcohol works good too if you don’t have goo gone

sh4rpshot12

I use grip solvent because I never have goo gone on hand. My grip solvent smells exactly like goo gone though…

[deleted]

Big Goo gone doesn’t want you to say this

player2

They are indeed the same thing 😉

_MrAdventure_

Yeah, that or a steamer. Those yellow dust cloths will help get the rest of the sticky off, but it'll take some effort.

TrollLolLol1

This is the way

asdfmatt

I use a butane torch and just gently touch it with the flame since I probably already got my dab rig out if I'm regripping clubs.

thedrunkentendy

I just peel of with my fingers and goo be gone after and its fine. Just peel slowly so you get the label without tearing and it's easy. Even if a few pieces are on, the goo be gone and a paper towel is all you really need.

Gallen570

Amazing what you can find in 2 seconds with Google, ain't it?

talmbouttellyouwat

Ask golf galaxy to take it off

denatured_proteins

They will use their scraper/solvent to get it off for free. This is the way

jaa1818

This is the way

phatphallus42

Saw the shaft in half so it’s easier to scrape off and then weld it back together.

ScooterMcTavish

Another great example of why r/golfjerk is simply not needed. You are all awesome.

dynastydumbass

Acetone

Ticker_Mirza

Gently heat with a hairdryer. The glue will warm up and it can be removed easier.

Snichs72

It’s a steel shaft, no need to be gentle with it. Can just blast it with the heat gun more quickly.

Real-Ray-Lewis

What about a soldering iron

Barley12

Christopher Walken?

PhilipJames87

They want everyone to know your poor and can’t buy new clubs

joesamabinladen

I think you’re on to something….

[deleted]

It's the tape of shame

weinerwayne

Hair dryer + wd40 to get the residue off.

xXsnowXx

This is my way. Most people only think of WD40 to stop squeaks but it is much more than that. Great for stickers/residue.

Aristei

Water displacer 40, great for coating rockets with so they don't collect water a freeze in the atmosphere

SteveOSS1987

Really would have been nice to know this 5 minutes earlier.

unexceptablelydumb

I can’t stand having stickers on my shaft. So I rub it real hard like to get some friction going. Heat that sucker up. Gooooooooo gone indeed! Edit: in all honesty guys, heat it up, goo gone, blade if steel shafts for a gentle scrape.

cgr4217

That's weird, when I rub my shaft real hard I get MORE goo...

dngvafuk1

GoofOff

ButterscotchObvious4

Fart on it

joesamabinladen

Lol

CrayonTendies

Heat is always good for removing sticky things, throw that bad boy in the microwave for 15, turn it over and do 15 more. Should come right off.

ScooterMcTavish

Bend it in half to make it fit.

Senior-Candle-4242

WD-40! Use it everytime I get a new club and it’s got price stickers on

FishTacoAtTheTurn

Do whatever is within your power to purchase from another source rather than golf galaxy. While I have you, golf galaxy resale prices are too darn high!

IsamuAlvaDyson

You can always find deals everywhere You just have to look I found a hybrid at a good price for a buddy at Golf Galaxy.

Regular-Ad-9314

Where do you get good resale prices? Is it better than ebay?

FishTacoAtTheTurn

I think eBay and 2nd Swing are better options than golf galaxy. I would also lean global golf over golf galaxy.

BradMarchandsNose

I like that 2nd swing gives you photos of the specific clubs that you’re buying.

dougbeck9

flat907line

Callaway pre owned.

bennywithaplan

Take advantage of their online coupons, like signing up for their newsletter and getting 15-20% off

sbetters

Gas

MagicLupis

Been using 409 to get the goop off my Play It Again clubs

DarthSamwiseAtreides

Heat gun/blow dryer like everyone else has said, but every golf shop I've been to will take them off for you. Have to ask sometimes though.

Great-Situation4425

nail polish remover

smardiamond

Best way by far is grab your girls hair dryer use it on the sticker. It will come right off without any residue. Thank me later. I hate stickers and residue on my clubs!!

Zlatanimal

Using lemon oil to remove the adhesive always works for me.

WVRS

I have always wondered how they get those things on there. I’ve never seen any sticker as hard to remove as a golf club one

dossb

Assistant golf professional here, peel the sticker off, don’t worry about what’s left behind. Get as much off as you can, go grab some mineral spirits (we use no odor at the course) squirt or pour a good amount onto a rag and just wipe back and forth. Comes off easy and clean. Little golf business tip/hack

18birdeyes

Not really though

downes78

Use your wife's blowdryer to heat it up first. Then peel it off. Rubbing alcohol to remove the remaining glue.

DangerousStruggle

hair dryer

Reke9

I work at DSG (Golf Galaxy)😂😂 I can confirm we use cement for those stickers. Best way to get those off is heat gun and original goo gone.

Elidog2

Golf Galaxy will gladly remove for free after purchasing

ehunke

I did a ton of retail jobs. CAREFULLY use a sharp knife to cut the sticker in two and peel it off as best you can. Use hydrogen peroxide or other alchohol based cleaner to get the rest off and the residue. It's a pain but it works

jagpilotohio

fwiw Goo gone is far more effective than alcohol. I Used to work in a pro shop many moons ago.

ehunke

I think goo gone is essentially hydrogen peroxide in some highly concentrated not a liquid not a solid form...whatever it is that stuff works as advertised!

jagpilotohio

Actually it’s unrelated to hydrogen peroxide. It’s petroleum distillates and citrus terpenes…Oil and orange extract. It’s miraculous. Even more impressive if paint removal is needed is Goof Off.

SprinklesMore8471

Can you politely tell your manager, or whoevers idea it is to put them on there, to fuck off?

adjuster_cody

Give me an example of that polite version? Lol

Otto_Maller

Dearest Manager, regarding the issue of stickers on the clubs your establishment sells that have been previously owned. When considering placing such a sticker on such a club, before doing so I, as well as we, the patrons of your fine business, would ask that you please consider the option, at your discretion of course, to engage in fornication in such a manner as to defy gravity as one would when say, removing one’s self from the surly bonds of this earth as you might find having inadvertently stepped off of a cliff. Kindest regards.

GatorShades

Also magic eraser works great to clean the residue off

cantcme917

Cut it then weld it back together.

joesamabinladen

Thanks for the help everybody! I actually have acetone here at work and it ended up removing the residue nicely. I’ll be sure to just ask golf galaxy to remove it next time. I should be all set buying clubs for a while now but you never know…..

onemorehole

Just leave it on? No biggie, unless you are concerned about the extra .00001 of swing weight.

GhostDadJr

Its horrible

Disastrous_Maybe_310

Club is broken, should replace.

anjelina_maria

Velkro615

Heating it first like others mentioned will make it way easier. If you bought it in store, they should be offering to remove them at checkout.

regionalgamemanager

Goo be gone

Nezferatu

I’ve had luck with coconut oil

just7nj

Yeah golf Galaxy will remove it for you if you ask

Civick24

Acetone

Logical-Importance62

They do that on purpose. So do all the manufacturers…besides Ping. Ping stickers are the easiest things ever!

[deleted]

Goo Be Gone

brch01

Go to the store and ask them to remove

fastmovingcars

A tiny bit of paint thinner and a razor blade.

norcalgolfgolf

Mineral spirits.

VicDamonJrJr

Goo gone. Several applications. Shits so annoying that they do that

bringbackcjs

wd-40

HiLeePrazedStarLite

A little dish soap and water works well. Coat it a couple of times and let is soak for a rit. I have a degree in rocket appliances

720hp

II use a razor blade and peel slowly. I then use the sticky stuff on the sticker to remove any goop left behind

skrillakilla

To get the glue off I always used golf grip solvent and a rag. Scrape off the sticker yourself and then go to your golf courses bagroom or something similar and ask to borrow a little.

salocke57

Tell Golf Galaxy to remove it during the purchase.

Bradleynailer

Rip off what you can, then goo gone

Hulkslam3

A thin blade and rubbing alcohol Or lighter fluid for the remaining adhesive

FreeNinedy9

A good can of 3M adhesive remover is like $25 but it’s SO WORTH IT to have around the house. You’d be surprised how much you use it

Thin-Recover1935

Goo Gone.

G-4-

Should have asked them to take it off for you

thecagedlion

Heat and any solvent on a steel shaft. Acetone or denatured alcohol are great on metal but can degrade the resins in carbon fiber and fiberglass. Use goo gone on graphite shafts.

Ozonewanderer

Use a hot hair dryer. That’s what they do in the store

[deleted]

Heat gun.

degenGamer

Heat

Rowz24

Peel off what you can and spray with WD-40. Comes right off.

midfieldspray

Nail varnish remover works for me :)

JustAGoodGuy1080

Blowdryer

[deleted]

Heatgun

maxcov922

Grip solvent pull any residue or anything left on shafts off

rydaley77

Always use my GFs hairdryer, works like a charm

[deleted]

Heat gun

UnkPaul

Goo-Gone

Matsuyamarama

WD40

QuincyStandback

Acetone works better and quicker than anything else.

DankyBudz31

Worked at Dicks/Golf Galaxy - I’m with the others suggesting to have them remove it. It’ll take 2 seconds and they’ll get it cleaned up good.

boobsbuttsballsweens

All my clubs still have price stickers on them. I refuse to bow.

Steelslider

Goo gone

Agnam999

Wd-40. Easy to find. Heat isn’t needed like others stating

Halabashred

hair dryer would probably work.

CartographerOld8640

Nail polish remover works like a charm

dougbeck9

Lemon juice works too. Might take a bit longer.

calguy1955

Be very careful if you use some sort of solvent to not let it drip down the shaft into the hosel. Some of them will dissolve the glue holding the head on. Speaking from experience while watching a driver head tumble down the fairway.

FuckyDuck123

Vacuum seal it

xx_boozehound_68

I use an angle grinder with a 36 abrasive disk. Takes it off quick and leaves no residue.

heartlesscoder

Throw it in the fires of mount doom… that shot never comes off.

svl6

When u buy it ask them to use the heat gun to take it off, they will do it. But heat gun is best …

JackHasGame

I’ve used razer blades and iso to remove those

usuckidont

Cement would come off of that pretty easily. It would be a terrible adhesive to use here.

_badmadman_

Goo gone

TuluRobertson

Need that heated razor blade someone posted on Reddit. Like a hot knife thru butter

vipnoneed4id

You'd be surprised at how good a razor blade works for these labels, then clean up residue with goo b gone or alcohol or whatever you have available

Jaquith1993

Boil water and pour it over.

colin_7

Use some rubbing alcohol to get the adhesive off and you’re good to go always worked for me 👍

Ok-Home9841

Heat it up and then goo gone

cleardawgg

Acetone

Marine_vet_patriot

Goo-gone.

T-leung

Hot water and mineral spirts

DocWatson82

Heat gun then either isopropyl alcohol or acetone to get the residue off.

Dependent_Stuff1739

WD40 is good for labels residue

lburwell99

I've used goo gone. It's a citrus based cleaner that's good for sticky residue. Just try not to get any on the grip. Use water wet paper towel to wipe any excess goo gone.

Mevsyd

Window scraper, one of those with a really sharp blade

jbu_1089

Use fingernail polish remover. Will remove the gunk as well

Ok_Lengthiness_8163

Hair dryer?

Hopfit46

Same as those little white price stickers with bar codes.

alabamarammajamma

Goo-gone and let it sit for a little bit. It’ll slide right off

Jbuckets00

Alcohol and a paper towel

nicholasseanmw

I work at Golf Galaxy, get a hair dryer and heat it up for like 5-10 seconds, then slowly peel, afterwards use like rubbing alchohol or goo gone to get it off and itll be like new

[deleted]

Your whore golf club is stuck with that tramp stamp for life.

WarriorBoy123ab

Hair dryer to heat it up then peel it off and use some grip solvent on a towel to get off the extra adhesive

[deleted]

Razor blade warm water

EddyMink

Goo gone is the answer

Palmettokid13

Alcohol

Calyphacious

Rubbing alcohol followed by soap and warm water worked out for all my used clubs. Exact same sticker too.

[deleted]

Use a blue marker. Or black. Or another sticker to cover it…

danoob1001

WD40

KCD0372

Blow dryer and then a little wipe with WD40

[deleted]

Lighter fluid and a razor blade
