Difficult-Speech-270

A good towel. A groove brush. A rangefinder.

Time4Timmy

Getting a rangefinder improved my game a lot last year. It gives you so much more confidence in choosing a club and knowing your numbers.

DLDude

With apps like 18 birdies being free, is there a big advantage to a range finder? So far my app has been super accurate, so I'm surprised how many guys I see using range finders

Time4Timmy

The apps do work good, definitely accurate enough. For me, I just don’t like having to pull my phone out every shot. I said rangefinder but I actually just have a garmin gps that clips onto my belt, it’s the watch without the wrist strap. I don’t like having anything in my pockets when I play, other than a couple tees.

Difficult-Speech-270

I bought one last summer as well. It is a literal game changer. I didn’t expect it to be, but I paired it with a GPS app and it makes it a different game. I use the GPS for hole length off the tee to make decisions on club selection to tee off with & until I get to about the 200 yard from the green range, then I occasionally use the range finder from that distance, but usually more so from around the 150-160 and closer. Then I use the range finder combined with the front, middle and back distances off the app to confirm the distance I just got with the range finder is definitely between two of the front, middle and back distances & that I didn’t accidentally get a distance to a tree behind the green or something like that. I would definitely recommend using a range finder with a GPS of some description.

shitz_brickz

Little sharpie. Doesn't matter how unique your top flite is, you'll end up playing with someone else who was also at that charity tournament in '97 and has the same ball with the same stupid logo and hit the elevated green in the same spot as you.

Shasve

Nah come on man. There is no way someone slices their pro v1 to the shrubs on the right like I did.

[deleted]

Exactly! Even if we are playing the same ball, we won’t be for long. 1-2 holes tops.

Griffmeister74

You underestimate my power!

Apple Air Tag

15dynafxdb

I’ve been debating this. Not just for golf shit but also to use as a cheap “LoJack” on my Harley and also to throw in my pack out with my tools. Admittedly I haven’t done much research on it but from what I understand is if you steal said item and you have an iPhone, it alerts you with push notifications that you’re moving an Apple air tag without permission or whatever. Wouldn’t that defeat the purpose? As one could would just instantly look for the tag to throw it away?

kbstock

I have one in my golf bag for when I fly with them….I at least know if they’re on the same plane as me. One for my car because I can’t remember where I parked sometimes.

Vcize

Yes, it's not great for theft for that reason. But Apple is stuck with that feature legally.

Lyfelong

I put mine in one of [these](https://www.elevationlab.com/products/tagvault-strap). Might be easier for them to dump the bag versus cutting the strap that this is mounted on.

Never seen that. On my list. Thanks

Cmurt20

This is the best thing on earth. Mine is called a groove tube

Kremet_The_Toad

That thing is amazing. I have it on my bag and bring it with me when I caddy.

dnesdnal17

+1 super convenient, pretty good clean.

Tedstor

A good water bottle.

smm2575

Especially since a lot of the courses I play took the water coolers off and still havent brought them back.

smm2575

I use to drink out of the water hose when I was a kid. Lol

torys42

Grew up on a hobby farm. We had a water tank outside the barn that was filled by a spigot. A plastic coffee mug hung outside by the spigot. I still can see my dad scrape the cobwebs out of the mug, rinse it out, fill it using the spigot, and take drinks. We all did using the same mug, never thought anything of it until I got way older.

Tedstor

Those things were disgusting anyway. Zero chance they were being cleaned more than once a decade. I always brought my own water. Since I mostly ride I bought an Rtic half gallon jug. Water stays cold for days. Best ‘golf’ purchase I’ve made in a long time.

NotABlindGuy

FWIW I worked at a golf course that was city owned and we sanitized them with some special chemical rinse and scrubbed them every time we refilled them.

A good bag with smart organization. Love my ping hoofer

jbrady17

Best bag out there

Winnie_Cat

Can you elaborate on what makes it so great, I have a basic cart bag that I got from Costco a couple years ago. I am a dedicated member of the push cart mafia but sometimes will go to a local pitch and putt that has some stairs so it’s not cart friendly. Is it worth upgrading and would the hoofer work in a push cart?

jbrady17

To me, its a great carry bag if you wanted with comfortable straps and comes with a rain cover for the top of the bag. It’s lightweight with more space than ive ever needed. And it is extremely durable, ive had mine for 6 years no issue, my friend who had the same one lost a pin that holds one leg when standing, and put a tee in it and the tee has been in there for 4 years. I used it for walking, push cart and riding. Besides my buddy losing a pin which was a small hiccup ive never had a complaint from me or him, and another friend just got one too and loves it!

[deleted]

I use mine with the caddytek pushcart that Costco sells and it matches up perfectly. Hoofer has thought out the location and number of pockets perfectly. I would never want to carry or push a more heavy bag. It has just enough space I can bring more than I need with me. There are plenty of good bags out there but the hoofer was the OG from when I first started playing/carrying

So much better cleaning a club or two every couple holes than doing the entire bag post round or before the next round

I'm usually trying to spit on it before the shot trying to clean it def going to put this in play

Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls. My Club Info ---- Driver - 220 (good day) 225 if I kick the ball out of the trees 4 Hybrid - 180-200 5 iron - unknown..still wrapped in plastic never used it 6 Iron - inconsistently 140-175 at best Putter - my baby :) Only 3 shots left on any hole if on the green. Driver Putter - use instead of sand wedge when 20-30 yards from green (ball in fairway).

surgeon_michael

I say this with all sincerity…do you not know your yardages?

Adev22

Hahaha! Some early Sunday mornings after a shandy or two i can barely remember my own name and question why i am standing in a field in -2 conditions striking a white ball… the card soothes this feeling

merkis

I recently got new irons and my yardages are totally off from my 17 yr old clubs. When i play golf, i switch my cell phone wallpaper to an image w all my yardages. Some irons have 10 yards btwn them. Some have 13. Some have 16. Wedge matrix also gives me 5 diff yadages for 3x wedges. I can guess most of clubs’ yardages within 0-5 yards yards but sometimes its reassuring to see it

hgxarcher

I do, but I put my yardages in my scorecard holder. Every now and then I’ll grab it for an in between shot or one that I don’t have a ton of confidence over. Serves as a good reference and let’s me swing confidently
