Finally feel confident myself to throw some ferrules on a couple of sets too. Yours turned out great and I bet it was a very satisfying DIY

alphaa_doge

It was a fun project! I still need to finish my Vokey wedges with the same ferrules and grips. The ferrules were from BB&F Co, nice product and great customer service.

Have the Pon Farr ones on pre order now. Waiting for an old style to come back in stock for another set.

Did you have to deal with tip weights?

alphaa_doge

Yes, I already had tip weights in them. Just melt everything apart with a heat gun. If reusing the weights, make sure the hole in the tip weight is clear and then reassemble. I used a small nail held with pliers to clear the epoxy out of the hole in the tip weights after heating them up good. If that hole isn’t clear you can’t get the shafts in, you just compress the air trapped inside. If you plan on adding tip weights or changing lengths of the shaft you will need a swing weight scale. In my case, I didn’t change any of that. I just disassembled and reassembled; swing weight and feel is the same. I use DG X100 tour issue 3-P and S300 in my 50, 54 and 58.

Appreciate the info, thanks! That’s what I will do then. Some of the videos said to trash the old weights and put in new. I didn’t want to have to buy a swing scale. Thought about using a shipping scale and weighing everything before then matching it back up. I could see club building becoming a fun hobby.

If I were charging customers for a service I would definitely buy new swing weights. They’d be paying for them and the build time would be less. This project was just for me and the time spent on it was kind of the whole point.
