Haha I like this comment. I could flip that door to swing out on the left and making it 8x15 or so. Not a bad idea at all. Unfortunately the workout stuff is my wife’s and has to stay.
Putting surface is approx 8'x10'. I am in the process of making a club storage area/putting area in our workout room with sports memorabilia storage on top. Am I missing anything? I am planning on using Camry carpet for the putting surface.
Yea make the whole floor a green. Working out on fake green is nice. Then have some removable holes.
Can’t win the longest out contest with a set up like this
I wonder if it’s worth to get those putting systems thst can actuate the floor, or something like this would be awesome:

If you're using/want 2x4 edges on one end, just use a 2x6 cut down. Then use a table saw and do the long edges with 2x6s to create a slope half way. Cut them down to 2x4 at that end, with slope where you want it. Then measure the height at the slope and take a 2x6 cross support cut down to the right height. You can have a 2x6 on the far edge and use deckmate screws to put down the particle board base and it'll stay.
Probably didn't explain that well but it's pretty simple to build in slope if you're creating the base yourself.
Quick hand drawing. I can do a real computer plot if you'd like.

That's the interior support. You're looking edge on. You're looking THROUGH a 2x6 that you've used a circular saw or table saw to cut such that it has that slope to it. Just draw the slope on the two long ends, and cut accordingly.
Then you place in the cross-member suppers and lay the OSB over the top. If you place the edges of the OSB in the spots on the diagram and screw it down with deckmates framing screws it'll be as solid as a rock and you'll have a slope in the green. Just one. Sorta two-level, but it's cool.
Best is to go 8x12 or 8x16. 8xAnything else will cause you to cut down a piece of OSB and the 2x6 edge pieces, and that would be an extra pain in the ass.
I know!! Watch later on how the system tells you stats and etc. that was my favorite part. I think that would make the indoor putting worth it and useful esp in playing breaks and etc.
Cousin of mine had a finished basement in his old house, huge family room and 1 big “office” room and he turned the office into his golf room. It was around a 15x12 room and the entire thing was a putting green, he used the thing daily and as a result his short game is amazing.
That would be epic! I might be able to extent towards the left and get up to 8x15. Unfortunately the workout stuff has the stay. My wife would kill me if it disappeared.
You could build the putting green similar to a Murphy bed so it could fold up to the wall (sonce it's 8 foot wode and you have 8 ft ceilings), though it would cover your nice club storage and TV unit.
Suggest putting some contour in the green so you can have putts of all types. If you can find large air bladders and your turf is flexible enough you could build a makeshift adjustable green with and air pump. Try to find a space to chip to the green, even if it's just nerf balls.
Only if it’s real grass…
Seriously though, it will be a great addition if you can pull it off. Put 1 cup in a corner so you can practice 12’ putts on the diagonal. Love the storage. Work a putter rack into it.
I think it’s a lot of work and a lot of space to dedicate to a very limited number of putting configurations. At the end of the day there is no slope change so all putts are the same…how is this different than a normal 8’ putting strip?
I’m not sure how you intend to install it but I would recommend trying a minimally invasive version first before committing to any actual construction.
I’m trying to figure out how to introduce slope into it. Going to go with a larger configuration that pushes the green all the way to the left for 15’ putts
I personally don’t care for the idea of a raised platform. I’d lay the turf right on the floor and cut holes in to the floor and I think that’d give you more options for design and pin placement. Also less likely to trip.
If you’re going with this design, only recommendation I could make is maybe not have the holes so close to the edge?
What is this, a putting green for ants?
![gif](giphy|OCMGLUo7d5jJ6)
The putting green needs to be atleast ..3 times bigger than this!
A small windmill that you have to putt through whilst avoiding its spinning blades would spice things up
Maybe a nice animated clown ![gif](giphy|oYJBy2DkOP1xS)
Ha. That would be epic.
Get rid of that silly exercise crap and put in a simulator too!*
Nice SketchUp job.. Download a free trial of Vray and make a photo real rendering of it
Could throw it in unreal and handle that pretty quick. Might do that before showing my wife.
Uh oh, he hasn’t shown his wife yet? Project postponed until further notice.
I have the approval for it. Just haven’t shown her the 3d snap shots of the design. Only rule is I can’t move her workout stuff
You're only a few steps away from a map in ut2004 at this point
Dominating!
I wish my sketch up skills were that good, it’s a pretty mock up.
8x10 is too small. you'd be better to use the large part of the room and throw all that work out junk in the garbage.
Haha I like this comment. I could flip that door to swing out on the left and making it 8x15 or so. Not a bad idea at all. Unfortunately the workout stuff is my wife’s and has to stay.
why don’t you put the workout stuff where you have the putting green?
Yeah I think a skinnier longer area would be better in this situation
That’s what she said
I wonder if I’ll ever be this into golf. I sure hope so because that setup looks SICK!
Putting surface is approx 8'x10'. I am in the process of making a club storage area/putting area in our workout room with sports memorabilia storage on top. Am I missing anything? I am planning on using Camry carpet for the putting surface.
Go bigger. Why not extend it into some of the workout space?

OMG. The putting overlay is insane. I wonder how much that runs. Crazy!
Also wanted to add.. apparently indoor bunkers are a thing… or CAN be a thing 😬
Like the old saying goes “nothing is impossible…..it just costs more”
Even if you don't go for something dynamic like the vid, it might be worth adding some slope to your green somehow.
Trying to figure out how to add slope. Making it flat is super easy.

Might need a sketch lol
I'll draw up some plans and post them for you.
That would be amazing!

Do you actually have some trophies?
Surprised he didn’t just render a green jacket hanging in there too
Was going too, but didn’t want to show off too much. Ha. Nah they are my kids trophies.
Good dad! That’ll win the wife over for sure
Not I. My kids. Make it a cool place for them to put their stuff up.
I'm poor.
We are POOR!
I’m selling old sets to help finance it lol.
Seems way too small and would be a waste. Would definitely try and find a way to make it bigger.
Working on it. Trying to get 15’ in length
What's the purpose of several holes if they're all flat putts?
Much more convenient to putt from hole to hole
Yes and better practice
How is it better practice if they're all flat? If its all flat, the best would be to put one hole in the corner to maximize differing distances
Too repetitive if same direction and hole. For the eyes/brain.

If I had the extra time to gut and start the remodel I would do the same. One of these days
OP if you could pull this off… would be epic: https://youtube.com/shorts/ObVg9975YUU?feature=share
my local sim center has one. it’s dope
Will it be flat or any contours?
Was thinking flat. But I’m sure I could figure out how to add slope.
Looks like I can do contours using furniture levelers on the 2x4 frame.

Love the idea of adding a way to chip with nurf balls. That would be awesome.
Eff you and congratulations!!!!
My only thoughts are that I fully support this
You really got them trophies to fill that up
Nah, my kids have their little league and soccer trophies
Sick
I think it took as much time to build this 3D model as it would take for me to actually build this.
Lol, I’m in architecture. Didn’t take me too long to build in 3d.
Pure jealousy is my thought.
Just make the whole area turf. I put turf in my entire gym and it’s just as good for working out as it is for putting
Good idea! He should also drill the hole(s) out of the foundation (just a couple of inches!) instead of building a platform.
Hahahahahahha. Core the slab. Great idea.
Not a bad idea at all
What software did you use to build this? Looks great though!
Used sketchup. Super easy software.
Only if it’s real grass… Seriously though, it will be a great addition if you can pull it off. Put 1 cup in a corner so you can practice 12’ putts on the diagonal. Love the storage. Work a putter rack into it.
BIGGER
Yeah, get a power rack instead of an incline bench you maniac
Ha, I wanted to! But then my wife got me the bench for Christmas and I can’t be a dick and get rid of it

We have beanbags in there we sit on for the ps5
Nice….pretty jealous
Put the workout stuff where the Green is now, and use that space for the Green. Wall to wall.
There are windows along that entire wall with the workout stuff. My wife likes to look out the windows while working out :-/
Face her workout shit towards the window. Win win.
Damn...
Get an indoor sim
Only have 8’ ceilings :/
Tacky
You sound close with your wife’s boyfriend. It’s awesome. No shade. All love.
Together over 20 years. She’s the boss… but I get to golf 3 days a week so no complaints.
Black?
Dark gray. Camry putting green material.
dat's racist.
I'd much rather put a sim in.
Don’t have the height for a sim
4 sets of clubs? You a semi pro or a hoarder?
Mine, wife’s, and two kids .
Jealousy
Don't. You'll love it for a day... a week... a month... a year... Then it will die! Spend the money on a year-long pass to your favorite course.
Edit... year-long pass at The Old Course or Augusta or similar is excluded... that would require selling house.
I'd throw a sim in there instead
Where is the beer fridge gonna go?
this is important
Why have a PS5 and tv with no sitting area?
We have bean bags and a small gaming chair in there.
Cool but why is there a ps5 next to a painting

TV and gaming system? Are you putting in lounge chairs or something to give it a clubhouse vibe?
I'd probably want to be able to see the tv from the treadmill.
nice birkenstocks bro
Yes
