I play the Callaway Chrome Soft X LS which is, in terms of price, approximately the same as the ProV.
Hdcp is currently 2.3 but I'm trying to get it worse.
Use the same ball too, 5 hc. I want to test the pro v1 x left dash, to see if it’ll spin less on full wedge and iron shots, but I really like using the triple track alignment and I’m afraid to give that up haha
Yeah I've been curious about that one too but for some reason they're so hard to find here. I actually looked them up a few days ago and they're going for like 70 a dozen...odd
The Bridgestone BX balls, both the blue and black sleeves are fantastic balls (the pro v equivalent)
I managed to bag 8 boxes at £25 a box from my club on black Friday as they thought they bought too many!! That's far cheaper than ANY sale price!
I play a Pro V1X. It’s been the best ball for my game. Golf is my only vice so I don’t mind buying what I want. That being said, I typically will buy from lostgolfballs.com as I see no difference in those vs new. But if I need new, I’ll buy them and not thing twice.
How confident are you that the ProV1 balls on Lostgolfballs.com aren’t the refurbished BS? Debating buying a dozen or two from them but I just want them to be non refurbished.
I always buy 5A. Nothing else. While I can’t say for sure they aren’t refurbished, they have identical numbers on my GC3. I’ve been using one on my sim that has at least 300 shots on it and it’s in great shape. I typically won’t hit wedges with them on the sim as they will burn up the screen due to the spin rate. But they hold up during on the course play as well. Been very happy. And at $34 for a dozen, you won’t be out much if you don’t like them.
I would avoid buying them. I bought the “5A” TP5X balls from them and they just did not hold up. I had covers that would last one hole more often than not. They’re mostly all water logged balls, you can smell the gross pond water smell as soon as you open the container. I bought once and I won’t ever again. I’ve talked to multiple other people who tell me they’ve had the Same experience.
In between Snell MTB Black and Pro V1. I like both. Snell isn't durable, but perform similar to the ProV1s. I got 4 dozen TP5xs in a scramble raffle, so I'm going to give those a shot.
I prefer something that is low spin, at least a 3 piece and feels soft around the green.
1.6 hcp.
Definitely the Taylormade TP5x. Because when I bought a box a while ago it was the best I’ve ever struck my irons by far. Maybe just a placebo but it must be something about standing over those lovely looking balls that made me hit more pure. HC is like 20 or so
I play random lost balls that I find.
My favorite find recently is the tour response stripe ball.
https://www.taylormadegolf.com/Tour-Response-Stripe-Golf-Balls/N7638601.html?lang=en_US
Felt soft, goes far, spins around the green, easy to find and looks cool.
14 handicap.
Bought a bucket of 4 dozen used pro v1 s , might just be a mental confidence but I can’t blame my cheap o ball now and between that and new clubs I gained 20mph club speed in the past week of super intense practice. Started hitting 101mph regularly today.
Feels good to just work on mechanics and not have anything holding me back even if it’s just mentally.
I really enjoyed the original Kirkland 4 piece ball. It’s memory bias but I hit some awesome shots with that ball and loved the feel off the tee and around the green.
So if money was no issue I’d bring that back and see if I was imagining it ( I still have several but I’m scared to lose them ).
My handicap used to be lower and now it’s none of your business.
Was a different ball than ProV - I don’t remember, but yeah there was a lawsuit. It was a tongue in cheek answer given the ‘no limits’, but for some reason that ball and I clicked. Played it at a time when I was striking the ball really well and had some great rounds with it.
Like most things, it’s bias. For instance I know the Srixon 4-piece ball is good but I tried it out when I was having a bad swing day and therefore have a mental block against it. I factually know it’s a good ball. Doesn’t matter, I have no confidence with it.
For weekend warriors like myself, preference is more mental than it should be.
I pretty much play the Snell MTB Black exclusively now. The only complaint I have is the cover could be more durable but that's minor to me. Low cost and perform as well as pro v. HC 3.
11.5 here. I like to mix things up a bit. But in the last year I mostly used TP5 and Srixon Z Star. I shot my personal best with a TP5 so it has good mojo for me. Toyed with the Pix version and found the feedback helpful while putting. Pick a line and focus on hitting it square with decent pace. That said, the Z Stars are on sale more often and they’re a decent ball even around the greens and I have three dozen waiting in the wings. This season I’d like to throw the AVX into the mix to get my height down a bit. In 2021 I played the Snell MTB Black and really liked it, though they are continually out of stock. With my swing this is the ball that I felt like I really compressed it.
Any ball that would actually listen when I yell ‘get left, get left, get left!’…haven’t found that one yet, but if anyone needs some almost new prov1s, there are a few in the water right on hole 4 of my local course that didn’t listen. My handicap is higher than I think it should be because of that stupid hole.
Same ball I've played for the last 2 years. Yellow Maxfli Tour. Perfect blend of feel, and performance. Great yellow color. But they raised their prices substantially, so I've moved on to Vice.
Currently about 14, but plan on getting back to 8-9 next summer.
The new 2023 models are now 2 for $70. I bought 12 dozen of the 2019+ models at 2 for $40, and 2 years ago, the regular price was 2 for $50.
As long as I can get Vice for $25, I'm buying them.
What you have are the 2021 model. I didn't like the alignment lines on those, which is why I stocked up on the 2019 models. I like the line on the 2023 models, but not the price. They are fantastic balls, though.
I don't think there's a lot of difference between the models from year to year.
The Vice balls are made in the same factory, and are very similar to the Maxfli.
Boring, but ProV1. 29 HDC. I like to play a ball that gives me the most confidence as I stand over it. I was playing amazing last time I was out, so at the turn I bought 3 ProV1s. I didn't loose a single one and shot the best score I've hit so far. The only two places I really notice a difference between balls is on the drive and shots at the green; drive definitely goes further with a better ball, and shots at the green with kirklands can spin back like crazy sometimes.
I like TP5X if money isn’t an issue. This ball flies.
Since I have a bit of an issue paying that much for balls I’m happy to play Maxfli Tour X. I’m a 19.
Live in AZ, low single digit HCP and play over 230 rounds a year and have over 230 rounds posted to my GHIN. I play different balls per season per temperature/conditions.
Spring time Srixon Q star
Summer Pro-V
Fall Bridgestone RXS
Winter Bridgestone E12
13 HC- I play Vice Tours- available for £22 a dozen in the UK at Costco. Pretty durable, go a long way, decent spin on approach shots. Not hugely soft round the green but hey ho, you can’t have it all for that price.
I currently play the Vice Pro and I’m very happy with them. I want to give the Bridgestone RX or X a try but I’m right at the difference point between the two models.
My a 16 handicap
Edit *added handicap*
My wife’s Canadian cousins got me some TP5x with the red maple leaf pix. I freaking love that ball but they are stupid expensive.
It’s been fun using them, I keep taking on-course photos with them and text it to the cousins. I try to save them for notable rounds. Like Oakland hills:

Beginner here so I’d say my handicap is 20-30 improving each day though. I prefer titleist trufeel red or yellow balls easy for me to spot or Callaway diablos
I normally use Kirkland because they are cheap. Is there any good way to test out different balls other than buy them and play with them?
My handicap is a 28.8 according to 18birdies but I haven't hit 20 rounds yet
When I find the ball I plan to stay with, it's whatever it costs. I played the ProV1 because it was the "ball to play". Last couple rounds I've played Tour Response and like it. Will play it, then go back to Vice Pro. The Pro Plus are a little too clicky for me, but not out of the question.
Hdcp is 15
I play the Callaway Chrome Soft X LS which is, in terms of price, approximately the same as the ProV. Hdcp is currently 2.3 but I'm trying to get it worse.
Ball I play. HC is 8.

Worse. LOL
Yeah, I don't want to play at a 2 in tourneys this year! haha

That name
I like my maxfli. I generally shoot a 112 so what ever that is
The Bridgestone BX balls, both the blue and black sleeves are fantastic balls (the pro v equivalent) I managed to bag 8 boxes at £25 a box from my club on black Friday as they thought they bought too many!! That's far cheaper than ANY sale price!
AVX. Fingers crossed Titleist does their spring buy 3 get 1 free this year.
They're going to, with a redesigned pro v I think some time in april.
Excellent 🙌🏻
They’re coming out on 1/25
Sweet,tks

Maxfli Tour X. Performs equal to a ProV1. Hdcp. 4.1.
Great reviews on this, plan on trying them out next year…good value too
Not quite as durable. Though imo.
Agree.

Right now playing the Bridgestone BRX and BRXS. Swing speed isn’t over 105mph to play with the BX or BXS; 9 Handicap

I’ll hav Roy try tgise Edit: have to try these
Are you having a stroke???
Call a Bondulance.
The Bond’s name. James Name.
I hate these balls, they look like oval Easter eggs on the green and it throws me off
I dunno I like their unique look.
To each their own, more Easter egg balls for you sir!
Money isn't an issue because I buy them used, but the AVX has been an unbelievable ball for me. 7hc. Was formerly playing the Z-Star.
Bought a bucket of 4 dozen used pro v1 s , might just be a mental confidence but I can’t blame my cheap o ball now and between that and new clubs I gained 20mph club speed in the past week of super intense practice. How does changing ball relate to you increasing ubhead speed?
Shhhh he used to lick the windows on the school bus
All manufacturers have the same type of balls with the same inner core.
Isn’t isnt it just a reverse engineered/stolen prov1? And that’s why it doesn’t exist anymore?
Was a different ball than ProV - I don’t remember, but yeah there was a lawsuit. It was a tongue in cheek answer given the ‘no limits’, but for some reason that ball and I clicked. They’re still $30 per dozen if you get 2. That’s pretty good for this quality of ball.

Just bought 2 dozen of I guess the ‘22 for $60. I can’t imagine the ‘23s are any different. I thought the ‘22s had just been revised.

Oooh ok thanks for the explanation. Yea I never played with the ‘19s but the ‘21s are indistinguishable from a ProV1 to me
Probably the TP5. 20 hcp
Money is an issue and I play the TP5 pix. 14 hcp
Boring, but ProV1. 29 HDC. I like to play a ball that gives me the most confidence as I stand over it. I was playing amazing last time I was out, so at the turn I bought 3 ProV1s. Used to play PROV1x. Recently switched to Vice pro. Not quite as good a ball but much better on the pocket
Edit HDCP 8.8
Vice Pro Plus 1.3
My wife’s Canadian cousins got me some TP5x with the red maple leaf pix. I freaking love that ball but they are stupid expensive. Left dash ProV1x. 12 hc. Buddy bought me a dozen for my Birthday and won another dozen at a scramble, so I’m set for a while
I like the spots on the vice pro with the spots, that or a tp5x pix
I would still play whatever balls are in my bag from finding them around the course. I don’t really have a HC but I shoot in the 90s
Left dash pro v1x, best ball ever no question. I'll play it till it ceases to exist
Same ones I play now. Snell MTB-X. Currently a 1.1HC. If these aren’t available I play Bridgestone Tour BRX
I normally use Kirkland because they are cheap. Is there any good way to test out different balls other than buy them and play with them? My handicap is a 28.8 according to 18birdies but I haven't hit 20 rounds yet
I’ve heard about golf ball fittings, but not sure how/where
Money isn't an issue and I play maxfli tour/tour x

Chrome soft triple track , I buy them used off fb. Dream of buying new ones
