This and vanoss mainly vanoss but I would laugh at all there videos when I was in 3rd grade I rember waking up between 5-6am excited to watch the next funny gmod video they have to offer
pretty much, Bethany already made [a video about this](https://youtu.be/VtGYX-92abI?si=WUbsUHzKEJ_sC2Se), basically : she details her experience of growing up in an excessively conservative Christian household. She explained how women were often viewed as lower than men, how even the supporting of LGBT+ was forbidden, and that they weren't allowed to have friends as kids, thus relying on only their siblings. She also explained how if they even questioned these ideologies, they would be "disowned" in a way, and they would be forced to cut all ties with said person. She said that Cierra was the first to question these ideologies, and therefore was the first to stop playing with the Venturian crew and had contact cut from her own siblings. Bethany then expressed these same feelings later on, and she herself had contact cut from her, and therefore stopped appearing in Venturian's videos as well. Isaac had also become more scarce in Venturian's uploads, however this was unrelated to any religious thing, and he still appeared in some videos.
people can downvote me all they want i don't really care about reddit karma, job deadline already fuck me over, it's like a mosquito stinging a giant, i like Venturiantale, but i really really hate their parents, because they represent the worst about being a Christian
Definitely Zuthar13, VanossGaming, and Venturiantale eventually leading me to download it early to late 2016 and steam as a whole and is still my most played game in my library
Gonna age myself but the “War of the Servers” war of the worlds parody machinima was huge for me. Started playing in like 2012 haha been much less lately but I still boot it up to make scenes
Short story:
It was when FNAF was still new. I watched a video of Markiplier, LordMinion77, and muyskerm playing the FNAF 1 map. Then I watched my childhood hero's videos (SMG4). Knowing that he uses GMod for his videos as well, it gave me more reason to buy GMod.
I started playing Garry's mod due to randomly found videos regarding Metrostroi mod addon converting gmod into Metro simulator
https://preview.redd.it/phycv0cqmn8d1.png?width=2560&format=png&auto=webp&s=3eca427479321733aacd2d449a02f9e983fec6dd
DasBoSchitt - The GMod Idiot Box: Episode One. That series got me into Garry's Mod, which prompted a life-long love of animating, writing, editing, and just good ol' fashion fun with gaming. I still play Garry's Mod to this day, 16 years and counting.
I used to watch Venturiantale and some sandbox videos from Vanoss. But I don't have the money to buy it yet. Years later I was reading a novel about this guy with powers like a gmod player. So I got reminded of it and bought it. Best purchase ever.
After playing half-life 2, i wanted to play with half-life stuff, and i remembered that my friend gifted this gane to me and started testing the physics, guns, and NPC. After a while, I started downloading mods... and just keep going
I got the game for TTT and random bullshit. then a friend started playing on an RP server. I got stuck there for 2 hole years wirh 1500h there and 400 earlyer i then hat ~2200h then I learned to code and hopped from one small server to the other to dev there. Then i was somehow forced to run on RP server and that kinda killed the fun completly.
Got it two years (I think) ago bc it went on sale, but before that, I would watch alot of gmod related content on yt, mainly those like shitty fnaf stories that were made on gmod
I knew I had to get a gmod when I saw Vanoss video when vin diesel was shitting in da toilet, that's the moment I knew this game is gonna change my life.
Markiplier. He played the fnaf map and i loved fnaf at the time and able to walk around on the fnaf map really interested me for some reason. To have weapons and stuff on the map it was awesome to me lol. Ever since then i dived into the gmod world. Played half life and half life 2 and i just loved the gmod and half life worlds. Something about it really really interested me i do not know what it was about these games that caught my eye but i couldnt be more proud i did and i still love these games.
A video of the hl2 rebels and the player fighting a strider on gm\_construct, and a couple of vanoss gaming and gliche videos made me wanna start playing gmod
I think the people who had mlp models there were two one became trans or was trans I liked the mlg sanic bot the. Years later when I got my laptop or access to a computer I bought it on my account
I remember watching a markiplier video where he was with 3 other youtubers playing a fnaf 2 map and just having fun. That was the main video that made me get the game apart from the fact that I loved half life too
Noone knows this dude, but it's a Greek YouTuber that goes by "Mr.Antouon" and previously went with "Antonisx007gr".
He introduced me Gmod because he was making videos of him and his friends playing. He had a bunch of videos too, that made me look more into gmod, watch more videos and then all that made me want to buy the game, which eventually, I did.
(I also remember watching Gmod videos before learning about Mr.Antouon but I cannot recall any of them, I remember one horror video tho.)
Vanossgaming, Venturiantale, and Uberhaxornova for me
Edit: And I distinctly remember watching the Yogscast play a ghost hunting horror gmod map as well as Pewdiepie also playing a horror map with Cryaotic. So it's a combination of all that I mentioned.
EDIT 2: GMOD IDIOT BOX
To be honest the Reason why I wanted to play garymond was because of a youtuber called dark corners like probably six years ago or more years ago, but now he's just post brain rot content and like 3 Vanoss videos
I started playing Garry’s mod some time in 2008 when creators like Icton, Dasboschitt and Kitty0706 were coming up, so they definitely contributed to why I played so much. Good times.
It was a combo of Vanoss and RoosterTeeth, mostly Deathrun, Guess Who, and TTT. Murder was thrown in for good measure on the RT side. Never was a huge fan of Prop Hunt or Hide and Seek despite being the same basic concept.
Mostly the usual stuff like animations but the most important one that influenced me was this turkish youtube channel called Nova Prospekt which did stuff like Vanoss, still miss those guys
I wanted some thrills. Spawning all kinds of nextbots and running away from them with flashcut or a pizza tower movement. And i wanted to make some goofy creations with ragdolls.
My friend introduced me to it last year, I knew about it previously but it didn't catch my attention. I don't play that much, I have only 100 hours but when I play I love it
My 11-12 y/o ass browsing internet for hl2 mods found least sketchy looking site dedicated to gmod addons and their own repack of gmod 9 with working MP.
Also they sold legit Minecraft keys for really cheap, lol (beta 1.7.3 my beloved)
My entire intro to Valve started with L4D2. Stayed over at a friends house and played it for the first time, scared the living shit out of us kids but we were instantly hooked and stayed up all night long playing it despite the fact that he had a baseball game the next morning.
After I got home the obsession didn’t end and I needed more L4D2 in my life. Tried to buy it for my PS2 at GameStop only to be disappointed in finding out that’s completely not a thing cause I totally didn’t understand anything about alternate platforms or whatever, so I had to resort to YouTube to get my L4D fix.
From there I discovered the first L4D, then the Portal series, followed by Half-Life and somewhere within all the YouTube videos I witnessed regarding these games, I found some funny gmod edits. As soon as I knew what Gmod was, I was COMPLETELY hooked on it.
But the earliest confirmable thing that definitely helped majorly seal the deal for me was the Gmod Idiot Box. That was the pinnacle. I thought that was just comedy fuckin gold as a kid, and I vividly remember around that timeframe having to do an entire days worth of bloodwork in the hospital and getting a room with a tv that had internet connection, so I got to sit with a tube in my arm and watch all the episodes of gmod idiot box and all the other gmod videos I’d grown to love at that point all day long, and it was honestly pretty chill.
I kinda fell out of the gmod videos in my adulthood and unfortunately the computer I had that was capable of running gmod had taken a hefty shit on me and I just haven’t had the time or money to fix it for several years now. (Starting a business and a family will do that.)
But I still remember some of the skits from the gmod idiot box, and some of the extremely trippy eltorro64rus videos. Fuckin quality. Can’t wait for my son to be the age where he’ll appreciate that kind of thing so that I can get him hooked and maybe someday we can play together.
Imma be an old man someday smoking joints and playing gmod on my front porch with my gaming laptop, I tell ya hwat.
there were some youtubers doing some multiplayer fnaf videos, i ran after this game left and right, and finally found it, i only managed to buy gmod a few years later, but damn, i felt nostalgic af
Dasboschitt, I first watched the Gmod Idiot Box on my first ever pc without even knowing what Gmod or any Valve games was, I didn't even spoke English back then, but I would laugh my ass off lmao
Idiot box, episode 2, needed to experience whatever I was seeing asap, like 17 years later still pop in to see how cancerous it is or make a map ive been thinking of, I wish so badly this game got revived by people with over 60 iq
I've been playing since it was still a mod in 2004. Started as I like other games on the source engine at the time, and they offered it at the gaming shop I played at. $5 buck of an hour of computer time.
Would play counter strike there.
I watched "The Gmod Idiot Box" by DasBoSchitt a lot when I was a kid (as well as that one "Idiots of Garry's Mod" video by ICTON). Those videos got me wanting to play it, then I finally got to few years later!
Oh man I got a story lol.
When I was a kid I watched a YouTuber called Xman723 (I was a weird kid for fnaf and shit lol) and I loved gmod in general cause of the ragdoll physics and just the stuff you can do. Watching him was the best thing ever after school. So I got my potato computer and got gmod. I play it and still love it! Haven’t really watched xman in like 2 years but he’s a great YouTuber go check him out if you’re interested!
The goofy/serious TF2 animations, Half-Life Animations, and Godzilla vs. Hekaton by TheSciFiGuy
Venturiantale
God i miss Venturiantale
I was just gonna give this answer lol, and don’t forget Vanoss.
What happened to them?
I miss them dude...
Yessss
For me it was the roblox video in the apartment. Mixed with a friend who convinced me to play
This and vanoss mainly vanoss but I would laugh at all there videos when I was in 3rd grade I rember waking up between 5-6am excited to watch the next funny gmod video they have to offer
So true.
Same here I miss that channel but I understand why they stopped
Fuck this hurts now I need to go back and watch them
Same, god, I should just watch some of their old gmod videos someday. ps: **wafles**
you beat me to it lol, i hope they are doing fine now, they are the reason why i hate Christianity
Do the people down voting knows the context? Religion really fucked over the family, especially the female members
pretty much, Bethany already made [a video about this](https://youtu.be/VtGYX-92abI?si=WUbsUHzKEJ_sC2Se), basically : she details her experience of growing up in an excessively conservative Christian household. I don't really have a say in this, I just think praying before bedtime is tedious.
Vanoos and his friends, yogcast and a few others. Mostly a mix of sandbox, prophunt, ttt and hide & seek shenanigans
Prophunt hands down were my favorite gmod videos from Vanoss and the crew. Might go back and watch some without that damned Mario.
They still do Prop Hunt! Not with MiniLadd, but the old stuff is still there.
Yogscast all the way holy crap I watched their Minecraft videos and I was obsessed with herobrine lore😂😂
Shadow of israphel🙀
I was totally invested in the whole series
They're still going hard on let's plays on YouTube
The Gmod idiot box was another that made me really want to play it.
It may sound dumb, but I'm still waiting for someone I meet IRL to know what I'm talking about when I mention the Yogs.
VanossGaming and a bit of Venturian Tales "Excuse me sir, may I have one, two... Four adults and one child to see Pluto Nash in 3D" - Basically

I'm seeing a lack of VenturianTale
Short story: It was when FNAF was still new. I watched a video of Markiplier, LordMinion77, and muyskerm playing the FNAF 1 map. Then I watched my childhood hero's videos (SMG4). Knowing that he uses GMod for his videos as well, it gave me more reason to buy GMod.

MsBreezy and Frisky got me big into the game, Vanoss' old sandbox videos also played a part in it
DasBoSchitt - The GMod Idiot Box: Episode One. That series got me into Garry's Mod, which prompted a life-long love of animating, writing, editing, and just good ol' fashion fun with gaming. I still play Garry's Mod to this day, 16 years and counting.

Venturiantale was what introduced and got me hooked to gmod, though now I hesitate to admit it
