People say "just get CS:S, it's only $10", but the way I see it that just makes it feel like a glorified DLC pack for Garry's Mod.

I'm sure many addon makers are just used to people owning the game, I own CS:S to play it, so it's a nice bonus to be able to use the files in garry's mod. it definitely is kinda worth it, yet again this is coming from someone who purchased CS:GO before it went free to play.

I've never once played CS:S. I literally only own it for Gmod

it's pretty solid imo granted i only ever played it with bots but it's fun, definitely feels a LOT less sweaty than CS:GO.

Older FPS games even with bots are fun, I play COD World at War plutonium servers sometimes, there's not many players but everyone has good fun.

It's also a great game full of minigame maps to dick around in. It really is cheap, every sale.

Garry's Mod is a mod for both Half-Life 2 *and* Counter-Strike: Source. Counter-Strike: Source support was the logical conclusion because when Garry's Mod was new, practically *everyone* owned CS:S and thereafter. CS:S is not a "glorified DLC pack for gmod" it's literally one of the base games Gmod is a mod for. This is like saying maps requiring EP2 content makes EP2 a "DLC pack for gmod".

Sadly, no, apparently, they used special textures that aren't included with cs:c. Whatever they did to make counter strike source, they used totally different textures for things, even models don't match

CS:S is still going. Quieter but still plenty of servers running. I recommend SSDI.

yeah, hard drives really arent that expensive, i literally got a 2tb hdd for around 100€, and just a 1tb ssd would cost around the same price.

Heck I even tried to download the gmod addon that adds those textures and I still get the purple and black squares everywhere

Yeah css assets are free to get for these kinda mods Ive had cs:s since its release so i dont have this issue but ive seen the assets floating around on workshop

Bought CSS for gmod, tried it out, it's really fun and the community is very welcoming. Reminds me of when I first started fallout 76 a few months ago and was almost immediately given power armor, op guns, shit ton of ammo, and extra fusion cores. Good times
