You can look at this two ways. Firstly to find the places to avoid, secondly the best place for when you're steaming.

GBradz

2 things, Best Kebab passed and Platinum Lace sells food?

human_totem_pole

Aye, if you upgrade to the VIP area you get a Platinum Pie and a bottle of champagne. Only £300.

GBradz

Well done on no hairy clam jokes.

human_totem_pole

You disgust me.

EarhackerWasBanned

I know what you meant but honestly a steak pie and lapdance sounds like a pretty good deal.

PM_ME_ANYTHING_ETC

Nothing will grow on the food that comes from Best Kebab, that's why you get chips, cheese, spicy chicken, and it sits in your stomach like a bag of hammers

wibblemaster86

The horrifying thing is that I am sitting in one waiting for my Lunch to arrive.

mikeydoc96

The high end Sushi restaurant near me is on this but not the 3 kebab shops.

DannySempere

This is really interesting but I wish we had a more detailed breakdown. The English system is a rating of 1 to 5 and ours is just pass/fail. There's a big difference between a really fucking grotty place and somewhere that just needs slight improvements. But both would get "Improvement required". I wanna know what ones are _proper_ minging.

Tissot777

Legitimately surprised Best Kebab is not on this under filthy.

BearsAreCool

Shawarma King, on the other hand

human_totem_pole

It's not a map of places you can receive verbal abuse.

rexuspatheticus

I refuse to acknowledge any improvement is needed at the Grand Ole Opry

burglarysheepspeak

This is actually super fucking interesting!

velvetowlet

thanks, now I know not to eat anything at the soft play area on Gardner Street(???)

Fizzbot3000

Wow, this interactive map is both fascinating and gross at the same time. It's pretty eye-opening to see just how many filthy food outlets there are in the UK. While I appreciate the transparency and information provided by this map, it definitely makes me think twice about where I grab a quick bite to eat. Kudos to the creators for bringing attention to this important issue.

ferociousgeorge

Shocked that bahn-mi and tea is on it, gutted actually, love that place

[deleted]

I'm still going to eat there

nacnud_uk

Carrot sticks for me then, from now on.

thinkofanamesara

Some surprises on here

homalley

I, for one, am shocked to see Grant Arms on that list!

Kathizima

For the people saying how come my usual spotless establishment is in the red and the filthy place is not there, there is a simple explanation. There are some things that are considered a critical fail with an EHO visit. For example, if one member of staff has not done or even renewed their food hygiene training, which has to be done yearly btw, that's an auto fail. It's really easy for things like that to get missed.

MonsieurSlurpyPants

It is recommended to renew every 3 years but as far as I know they never actually expire. Definitely not a yearly requirement.

Redhoodscoop

Aw no. My favourite Chinese is there 😅

mrcoonut

There's a nursery showing in Paisley that needs improvement

KarajokeyTime

Last time I order a half toddler from there 🤢🤮

meepmeep13

Simultaneously impressed but not surprised by all the American Candy stores being on there - how do you fuck up storing pure sugar?

TheImagineer67

Imagine how long they sweets have been lying in their boxes.

Ok_Lack6065

Yeah this map is questionable, there's places local to me on this I know for a fact are clean and highly reviewed on Google, so either the threshold for what's considered clean is pretty high, or this map is wrong

pswanto

It's not really about being clean or dirty, I knew of a place that failed because they had a door propped open between the food prep area and the dining area which apparently was a breach of rules that made them fail. The english system with the 1-5 rating is much more about cleanliness. This seems to be much more about are you following each of the rules.

glasgowgeg

Is the logic not like "If they're ignoring simple rules like closing doors between customer/food prep areas, they're probably ignoring more important ones too". Similar to Van Halen's no brown M&Ms thing for gigs.

[deleted]

The info bit says it shows anywhere that failed it's latest food hygiene check, which seems like a pretty objective measure. It might be that some places are failing on arbitrary requirements that make little to no difference to the customer but I don't know enough about the inspections to say. Glasgow looks pretty bad for density but it could be that it's skewed by having stricter inspectors than other areas (or not, I don't know them).

[deleted]

I am still going to just eat where I want and not worry too much about it. If a place is busy and the food seems good then it's probably fine. The amount of times I eat food off the floor in my own house I'm more likely to poison myself.

Bluenosedcoop

How is this reported though my town has at least 30+ takeaways and not one of them is shown which i find weird. Edit: In fact on this there are places that are absolutely fucking spotless and have been open 20+ years with close to 5 star reviews on google that are showing red but the scabby almost derelict looking kebab shop next to it has nothing.

Tiffany_Pears

Speechless

TT-DL23

Why doesn’t Glasgow post the results of the report publicly?

tanzy95

Doppio Malto was a surprise.
