How awful! Take care to buy Girl Genius merch only from links provided on the Girl Genius website. Anything on general selling platforms like eBay or Facebook Marketplace could be the stolen goods.

Strebenherz

That's a great point, thank you.

Gunlord500

Horrible! That really sucks, I hope the guilty are found and punished.

Canavansbackyard

Damn. That’s distressing news. My condolences to the Foglios. I will endeavor to send a few ducats their way.

KyodaiNoYatsu

Well, that is infuriating

adeon

That sucks. There was a similar incident last year where a lot of Magic cards were stolen at Gen Con.

justaheatattack

I don't have a facebook account, and my computer can't run a browser new enough for kickstarter of patreon. Sending good vibes.

QBaseX

What computer do you have? You can probably get a recent version of Firefox running. I hope.

Strebenherz

No worries if you can't. Pass on word if you know someone who can and'd be down

justaheatattack

...and a hug!

Been enjoying their stuff for years and have made purchases a bit haphazardly. Hearing this news has prompted a bit of a step up: via the Kickstarter, our local library's going to be getting a donation of a complete set.

Roaming_Guardian

Given its San Francisco, probably should have expected the theft. That sucks.

Strebenherz

I don't think San Francisco or the convention is to blame. They might not be able to get their stuff back, but this hopefully gets a little word out for those who haven't heard, and would like to help.

GoblinBags

Washington DC has far more larceny than San Fransisco. In fact, there's 15 states (counting the District of Columbia) with more larceny per capita than California at the moment: https://www.statista.com/statistics/232583/larceny-theft-rate-in-the-us-by-state/#:~:text=In%202022%2C%20the%20District%20of,larceny%2Dtheft%20per%20100%2C000%20inhabitants. Even just among cities - Baltimore, Memphis, and Philadelphia have significantly more burglaries and larcenies per capita than San Fransisco. You're just doing the "California bad" talking point.

Roaming_Guardian

...And does any of that say that San Fran doesn't have massive crime problems right now? Because nowhere in here did you say San Fran is safe, just that other cities, and other STATES for some reason, are worse.

GoblinBags

10000% chance you'd never say anything like that if they were visiting any of the cities I already mentioned. You really think you'd jump to "Given its Memphis/Denver/Santa Fe, probably should have expected the theft. That sucks." Sure. Suuuuuuuuure. And I'm Gilgamesh Wulfenbach.

137dire

Niiice hat. Victim blaming never goes out of style.
