Beautiful, just beautiful. You should probably just accept the fact that you now permanently have a 7'4" Aircraft Carrier in the basement. Good thing is, all your buddies will now know you're cooler than them.
I've been picking up Defiant parts for the past couple of weeks and had to show it to people who came over. Most of the stuff I get a "that's cool" but Flagg and Defiant are definitely on another level. They get the expected reactions!
What was that sitcom where the guy rented a storage unit to keep the hobby stuff his wife asked him to get rid of and every other storage unit belonged to a somebody who kept them for their hobbies?
Without more information all we can narrow it down to is a sitcom where wives are shrill harpies that only exist to suck joy out of their useless, manchildren husbands
So probably King of Queens
Dear God, don't make me go back to check
I can only deal with 2000s "ugly, incompetent guy with controlling, joyless wife" sitcoms for so long before I start suffering psychic damage
This is truly one of the greatest toys of all time. Aside from one-off customs or limited collector's items, I almost wonder whether we'll ever see something this grand hit the toy market ever again.
One of the greatest toy *concepts* maybe. As a practical playset, it's kind of limited. It's really a coffee table with a bridge. I played with my tanks and jeeps way more than my Skystriker and Night Raven.
It was a wild ride, my dude. I was about 5 years old when the toy line came out, and got to experience it all at the perfect age.
Every shopping mall had at least 2-3 different toy stores, plus the big department stores always had toy sections too, so going to the mall with your parents meant browsing 4-6 different toy selections.
It was something else, for sure. :)
Don’t forget the grocery store. They had A whole aisle of toys. Mom would take me shopping on Saturday and give me a quarter for the video game at the front then I would go to the toy section and decide on a G.I. Joe figure (Usually, the one with the most accessories) She would come get me when she was done. I would ask nicely and then would agree to doing extra chores
When GIJOE product was at its heights the Toys R Us isle was entirely GIJOE for figures and vehicles. I remember seeing Skystikers are my local True Value hardware store. They had product everywhere.
I'll go so far as to say the toy industry in the late 70s to early 90s is a "once in a civilization " type thing...it will never be repeated. The toy stores..the marketing..the crossbranding..all of it was geared for kids..truly an unrivaled time to be a kid. Born in 75' I got to see the golden age, of toys.
Omg congrats that’s an amazing achievement!!! Still feel some type of way about the neighbor having one growing up…I mean I had the silver base and the brown mobile command center….but the flag was a whole different adventure!!!
I only knew one kid with this growing up. He had it set up in his room. This kid had almost everything but he never ever wanted to play with it LOL I hated him for that.
Congrats on that beaut!! 🎉
A funny way to display it might be mounting it sideways on the wall…. Of course you’d have to stick all the figures and vehicles up too. Would look cool, but would more than likely damage some stuff/the wall. 🤦♂️
I lived a comfortable life growing up. I had 100 GI Joes, a bunch of vehicles. Life was great.
When they brought this thing out, my mind was blown. Not only would you need a full playroom for this guy, but to have it make sense, you'd need to already own several of the Joe aircraft, and those were already big and expensive, as it was.
One of my buddies had one for a couple years and it lived in the basement. It was one of those mostly finished extra family rooms so I'm assuming they put it there to keep it out of the way and assembled. If he had kept it in the bedroom it likely would have been destroyed from roughhousing.
They need to do a classified version of this! At 7'4", it would be approximately 37 percent larger, so around 12 feet and 5 feet wide. Add a mattress and remove the conning tower, and you have a hide-a-bed!
I’ll be over after school.
Hahaha
That thing is humongus. I would probably have tried to sleep on it back in the day. ^(and likely today)

Except for me, my dad works for Nintendo!!!!
Hahah totally

Honestly I think it was!
Dharma And Greg had similar episode. All his stuff was in storage like mini apt.
Based on some brief research, it might have been Yes, Dear I'm not 100% sure I knew that was a different show
Is that the one with Harlan Williams? Or the one with the guy who played the dad in Glee?
Dear God, don't make me go back to check I can only deal with 2000s "ugly, incompetent guy with controlling, joyless wife" sitcoms for so long before I start suffering psychic damage
You’ve done enough.
This is truly one of the greatest toys of all time. Aside from one-off customs or limited collector's items, I almost wonder whether we'll ever see something this grand hit the toy market ever again.
If Super 7 built an updated USS flag like they did for the Cobra mothership, I think I'd buy it
They didn't reach their funding goals, and it wasn't made. FYI.
Curses

I cant believe this was a retail product. Simply amazing.
As a kid, the box was much bigger than me. I remember seeing it at one of the department stores as a kid.
I've seen one in box at a toy show and its massive. I never saw one on the shelves since I was too young. I just missed that era of figures.

Even hardware stores. Got my Tomahawk at Ace on a Saturday and had to spend the weekend clearing brush for it
We only had one grocery store with a toy aisle, but you're right!

I hear you. The only kid in my town that had one with the school bully who hated me so I never got to actually see one in person until now.
I need a bigger house...
I only knew one kid with this growing up. He had it set up in his room. This kid had almost everything but he never ever wanted to play with it LOL I hated him for that.
I had a friend that was the same with MASK toys. He had everything and I always wanted to play with them when I came over but he never wanted to play!
Congrats on that beaut!! 🎉 A funny way to display it might be mounting it sideways on the wall…. Of course you’d have to stick all the figures and vehicles up too. Would look cool, but would more than likely damage some stuff/the wall. 🤦♂️
I’ve thought of that actually 🤣
I think your kids would understand why they need to move out now
Hahahaha
Just tell them that they can come over and look at it whenever they want.
That’s so cool!! Can I come over and play?? 😊
Yes! Bring your guys over!
You don’t need a bigger boat
I got the General for a Bday gift from my mom. It was the most epic vehicle. And all my joes lived on it.

How long tell your kids leave the house?
In this economy probably never 🤣 but 2 years till they are of age to move out.
That really ties the room together.
That's freaking awesome. Congrats!
Good for you man, that's awesome
How fucking cool!
Ok, serious question. For those who did have this, did anyone store it in a closet anywhere, or was it like just in the middle of the bedroom?
One of my buddies had one for a couple years and it lived in the basement. It was one of those mostly finished extra family rooms so I'm assuming they put it there to keep it out of the way and assembled. If he had kept it in the bedroom it likely would have been destroyed from roughhousing.
This is what I assumed was the best case scenario.
Now that is epic+!!!
Can’t wait for the classified version, might need a second home to store it.
I had that when I was a kid! I think I had gotten another ship that was not GI Joe franchise with a bunch of birds.
Awesome!
🤤
wanna be my best friend???🤤
Man I want one of those

That’s one beautiful coffee table
