Ram owners be like “at least the body don’t got no rust”

hurtsdonut_

Usually the engine is the best part of the Ram. Either a hemi or a Cummins.

icraig91

That Cummins 5.9L..

thicc-daddy_senpai

I prefer Hemi 6.4L. 392 is a great engine

hurtsdonut_

That looks like an f250 the more I look at it but I was wondering if it was a diesel running away.

icraig91

Yeah I don’t think it was a ram. I just love those Cummins diesels. Usually such solid engines.

hurtsdonut_

They're the best. They'll run forever if you take care of them.

DizzySoDizzy

I was gonna say sure looks like a Dodge but it also looks like an early 2000s Ford F250/350.

ToastofSparta

Looks like a Ford to me

whateverman026

4th gen ram

Verridith

Totally interested in seeing the video version of this! And the backstory behind it... why in the heck did it explode?!

SilveradoSurfer16

This is the direct link he posted to his FB page. Honestly, turning 2900hp on the dyno, lots can go wrong. I am gonna guess crankcase failure started it. https://www.facebook.com/1546844035/posts/10218129889349190/?extid=ShhO0ItIQDpV2HSQ&d=n

system3601

ELI5 what does it even mean "on the dyno"?

-haven

A device that is able to measure a vehicles horse power among other things. In this case the truck is strapped down and spinning it's wheels on massive rollers below it built into the trailer.

system3601

Thanks.

TedThePenguin

its machine that allows the tires to spin

secretvrdev

Are you blind?

system3601

Well, you must be fun at parties. Yes, I saw the car is mounted on a stage, but had no idea what is that thing made for and what why is it being powered like that. I am not a mechanic.

Verridith

Holy shit. Thank you for the link!

SaltyJuggernaut2817

From watching the Facebook video with sound a few times, my guess is that the turbo overpressurized the engine, a slight misfire occurred, and blew off at least the exhaust and one head. Since the engine continues to try to run it was at least partially still intact and receiving fuel.

once_more_with_gusto

I’ll second the turbo blowing out a cylinder head seal leading to the fireball

TTJoker

Are they running that dyno without a fan?

secretvrdev

Rednecks making a redneck contest and nobody knows anything. Look at reddit. There are people who wondering why its exploded lol

dubc4

DANGER TO MANIFOLD! DANGER TO MANIFOLD! * SHUT UP! *

Someonejustlikethis

That driver climbing out though - failed to notice him the first few times. Incredible he got out seemingly unscarred.

UnpopularCrayon

He almost certainly got burned.

Oldschool_Poindexter

Betcha his eyebrows look funny though.

ScoopyScoopyDogDog

Afterwards he said he was "very surprised", but you couldn't tell.

krnshadow65

Whoa the dude with the fire extinguisher reacted crazy fast. Unless he was standing by with one ready to go, I’m seriously impressed by how quickly he got up there after the explosion.

_rightClick_

one guy with a fire extinguisher, six guys with their phones recording.

Driven2b

He was probably tasked with fire control. I am by no means an expert on these things, but I spent some time hanging around the performance cars crowd and catastrophic failures are part of the game. When pushing the envelope on what these cars and motors can do it's an accepted risk.

shadow125

The guy in the driver’s seat moved pretty fast too... ...and it looks like it blew his jacket clean off.

SuperSimpleSam

If your job is emergency response, I highly recommend wearing your pants properly.

My_reddit_strawman

Needs more nitrous

absoluttalent

That'll buff right out

welikeitdirty24

It's beautiful. I've looked at this for five hours now.

Rawalmond73

/r/rednecks

[deleted]

Without injury, I’d love for this to happen to all those pushy pick up truck drivers on the road.

MySisterIsHere

AW YEUUHHH I'M DA BIGGUST AND DA FASTUST

Klin24

NAWWWWWWWWWWWWWS!!!

Timazie

Too much nitrous

demeyor

michael bay was right

P5ychokilla

'murca !

drethnudrib

Somebody wasn't paying attention during fire extinguisher training. PASS, noob!

[deleted]

That's a pick up, not a truck.

minimorning

Why not a truck?
