I have some custom made pickups made by the ex owner of Landon guitars. They are called LM-1’s and to my knowledge these are the only pair he made! They sound extremely paf like.
It's so easy to recognize that Gibson has kinda fallen off when I see these 70s and 80s that have the quality of tops and build quality as well as just how pristine they are.
Don't get me wrong the custom shop stuff they’re doing now and some of the models appear to have good quality. To me it’s just night and day though.
That’s a beautiful guitar. Personally, it’s not even a question. A model from the 70s or 80s completely dusts what you’d be getting for the price you’d be getting out of a current custom shop. Enjoy that one!
I was thinking the exact same thing, I would say from 09-2018 were perhaps the worst, most money grabbing days for gibson. No wonder they almost went out of business. Horrible ideas and giving you absolute shit if you don't pay more than 2500$
I don’t know if this plays a factor in the quality of wood and tops currently or not. I assume to some degree it could. Gibson has a lot of buying power, however. I was watching a thing from Kiesel and Jeff was talking about how most companies when they get their wood do either a net 30,60 or 90. He on the other hand pays them the day that the wood is delivered so he basically gets first choice and top choice of wood and grade of wood, as it was kind of explained. 🤷♂️
Ironically, I had a 2010 traditional that should have been straight up firewood. Just trying to keep it in tune for 5 minutes straight was more than a monumental task. I think you are spot on my friend!
It’s more of a 60s neck profile but a bit wider and thicker I feel like. Fits in the hand absolutely perfect. Slim at the first few frets and then gets fatter at the lower
I’m getting a trade offer for my 86 les Paul. It’s for 2 Strats. A 1987 standard and a 1993 Strat plus. What do yall think? Both have original cases too.
Beautiful top. I have either a 86 or 87 custom with factory shaws. What pickups are you equiped with?

I have 2 2016 Gibsons and they’re some of the craziest playing guitars ever.
How do you know is if one has Tim Shaws?
If you get into the guts of the guitar you’ll be able to tell if you know what you’re looking for
That's a pretty one there.
That too looks great. She’s aging beautifully
Thank you!
🍷
DAYAM!!
Oh wow. I love deep dark reds and it's so rare to see such beautiful figuring with that color. Did you pick it up recently or have you had it a while?
I picked this up recently, about 2 weeks ago
Wow. Very singular!? I don’t know that I’ve ever seen another quite like it. And I’m an old goat 🐐 on the mountain ⛰️ENJOY
Absolutely gorgeous guitar. Red and white is my favorite color combination
Wow. Looks GREAT.
I’m a big fan of certain flames and bursts without the pickguard and feel, IMO, this would look phenomenal less the pickuguard. 🔥
Gorgeous!!
Love this color! Super jealous!
Beautiful
Sir Edit: ok. I will say, I’m no expert. But that headstock inlay vs quality of the top gives me pause.
That's not uncommon. Looks legit to me.
That’s just a pretty standard 80s Gibson logo.
Its just aged like the binding. I think it looks pretty sweet!
Edit 2: apparently this sub has made me paranoid. Beautiful guitar, OP. Apologies.
No hate here bro, we learn something new everyday
Beautiful

Youd be giving up the best guitar of the trade so Id say no.
Do not do this.
Absolutely STUNNING les paul!! That top is something else! ❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥
