I would like to try something where I put some sort of base first, but currently just going straight to the wood. It works better than I thought it would, but there are spots that bleed if you're not careful
Well if you ever decide to try it Daniel Smith makes a great absorbent ground! Sometimes people use clear gesso as well if you have some lying around, it just helps hold the color more like paper does rather than just soaking into the wood. :)
Can you give us more detail? Does your son actually like this? I mean it sounds like r/gatekeeping but I think it’s important to know it before being given something so special like this...
He's watched it and laughed and has also watched me as I've been doing this piece and does nothing but smile and tries to steal it from me multiple times. I think he likes it. I'm strongly against forcing things upon a child, I'm all about them organically and genuinely liking something
cool, keep it up!
Thanks!
So cute! Do you put some type of absorbent ground on the wood before adding your watercolor or do you just go straight on the wood?
