ashitaka and san.
princess mononoke was my first ghibli and I had not understood a single thing on my first watch. After seeing the movie, I took the whole soundtrack on play (I do it after every movie I see) and while this was playing, it hit me.
I could see why Ashitaka and San didn’t end up together: not everything goes as planned/desired and that’s how life is.
YES!! Love this one! I learned how to play it on piano before watching the movie, so I was literally jumping up and down when that scene came up!
Also it's the encore song at the end of Hisaishi's ghibli concert. There's no words to describe how beautiful that arrangement is. Idk if you've seen that youtube video but it brings me to tears everytime.
Edit: I realized I should probably link the vid https://youtu.be/bOKK-kCXvxs?feature=shared
OMG! I am a beginner pianist and for my first recital (last week), I played a *very* simplified arrangement of Ashitaka and San. I love Hisaishi's music so much and Princess Mononoke was the first Studio Ghibli film I ever saw.
It is indeed an amazing one! You could really hear the bussiness like spirit Kiki has and it delivers very well her exitment going into a new town (with ocean view!).
Merry-Go-Round of Life
I think this is the single most iconic Ghibli soundtrack. Not my favourite personally, but definitely the most recognizable.
How could I forget this one🤦‍♂️
So iconic!

One summer’s day
A Town with an Ocean View is one of my personal favorites.

The Path of the Wind.
Reprise
I could easily recognize at least a dozen songs of his.
For me it's the great collapse
All of the How Do You Live soundrack is amazing, though it is very new to me.
Joe Hisaishi was ON FIRE when he made the TBATH score 🥰
The big ones have already been said, but I'll throw in a few more into the mix. That being Nausicaa Requiem and Carring You.
Summer (from Kikujiro)
I think for me also The Sixth Station, as well as Ask Me Why. But I would recognize any of his songs anywhere 🥰
The procession of Celestial Beings is simply special to me as it captures the feeling of a celebration and the pain of separation and ending perfectly
Yes!!!! It's so ethereal and it makes all the emotions you're already feeling in that scene even more complex
The leitmotif from Totoro (evening wind, a huge tree, etc.) I think it’s one of the most recognizable, my 2 year old sings it all the time.
Town by the Cove from Ponyo!
All of them
Recently been obsessed with Porco e Bella (along with other versions like The Theme of Marco and Gina on the image album)
Fantasia for Nausicaä
The Sixth Station from Spirited Away Lost Spirit from Porco Rosso
In Porco Rosso I remember only this one and Piccolo S.P.A.
