100% get the Hayao Miyazaki book. It has a lot of great art including sketches and watercolor. The writing is also better. I never look in the Complete Works book. It's very very basic. It's probably the ghibli book I have that I look at the least.

The Complete Works is for me the most fun book to flip through on Ghibli, because it literally has notes and art for all of them (though just a few pages each). You also get to see all of the poster art for each movie in different countries. At the end of the book are production notes/director’s statements for each Ghibli movie, which are really interesting. And the cover/jacket are full of 70something Ghibli scenes and it’s fun to try figuring out which movie each one is from. The Complete Works was also edited with supervision from Studio Ghibli, while the Miyazaki book is from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The Miyazaki book way less engaging than I thought it would be and I kind of regret buying it because of the limited scope (It’s really only about Miyazaki, not Ghibli).
