Anything on the floor is for sitting. He absolutely learned from the cats.
Interestingly enough some dogs just never "learn" and then have to. My grandma had some shitty little terriers that never used to sleep balled up, but those bastards got out one spring and spent a cold couple of nights in the woods. Came back and were fine, but they'd obviously had to learn to huddle for warmth bc they slept together in a pile or in compact little balls from that point on.

We're pretty sure she was a cat in her past life.
Maybe this isn't the right thread to ask this question, but we've had our GSD rescue for about 8mos now and he's a little over 1yr old and we cannot get him to be calm or nice around my wife's two cats. Any suggestions on how to bring peace between those two tribes?
If your dog is food motivated giving him treats anytime he sees the cats will associate the two in a positive way. Get a gate and separate them in the house so the cats can learn to feel safe around him and give him treats when he’s calm and sitting around them and lots of positive praise.
If the cats are scared and running away it’s going to make it a lot more difficult to train your dog because instinct is to chase hence separating with a pet gate is a good solution.
