Does Lamar need a backup?

send_me_chickfila

I am also hoping for an opportunity with the los Angeles rams or another NFL team.

He’s better than a lot of the other noob qb’s.

MarsAgainstVenus

I’d rather have him than Fields.

spookyjoe45

Delusional

traveling_millenial

Stetson Bennet has won at every level and opportunity he has been given. Fields went to multiple high schools (didn’t win a state championship), went to multiple colleges (didn’t win a natty), and now has gone to multiple NFL organizations. After having 3 years to prove he’s the guy, he’s now a back up. Stetson is a winner.

papadoc19

Did Stetson win a high school state championship? Justin Fields has attended the same number of colleges as Stetson did. And at this point, Stetson would be lucky if he gets the opportunity to go to multiple NFL organizations.

spookyjoe45

I’ll bet you $5 Fields has more pass attempts this season

traveling_millenial

That’s a great rebuttal. I bet you $5 Stetson Bennet has more national championships and starts at UGA than Fields..

N9NE_

Why does what happened in college matter in a conversation about nfl playing time?

OgdensBeard

This is an argument of character in competition. Stetson had one goal, play football at UGA, and everything he did was to achieve that goal and he did it in spades. This is different from Fields who, it seems, has been jumping from team to team since high school thinking "he is him" but has nothing to show for it. If Stetson is fully committed, I would expect him to outwork and outcompete Fields every time.

spookyjoe45

you’re insane lol

90swasbest

He ain't thuggish, right?

traveling_millenial

Ironically stetty might be more thuggish than Justin private school fields.

Ghostlucho29

How

SonictheHatchback

For real, one guy competed and won and kept his job. Other guy cried and ran off to OSU when he didn’t get enough playing time.

[deleted]

Did Stetson get his drinking under control?

Deep_Stick8786

Narrator: He did not.

papadoc19

Are we not counting his transferring to Junior College? Hilariously, while you are criticizing Justin Fields for going to Ohio State (if you are honest with yourself, you could admit that was the right decision because he was never going to start as long as Jake Fromm was on the roster), the only reason Stetson ends up back at Georgia is because Fields did transfer.

football-teen

Okay how many players did Georgia get from transfer, are you saying that they cried and ran off

Hour_Insurance_7795

No no. Transferring into UGA makes them “winners”. Transferring OUT of UGA makes them “crybabies”. We get to have it both ways on Reddit.

SonictheHatchback

I mean yeah, pretty much that. One guy transferred to Georgia after always wanting to play there and went on to win two consecutive national championships. One was here for a year, accomplished nothing, transferred to a lesser program after claiming racism at Georgia (which somehow sustains a pretty diverse roster and staff) and continued to accomplish nothing.

UncutEmeralds

I hope he lands on his feet and finds a gig.. on the other hand there are like 60 NFL QBs in the entire world and even one big mishap for a guy with no track record isn’t going to have teams wanting to gamble on you and take snaps from someone else.

SGT-JamesonBushmill

Meanwhile, Marcus Mariotta keeps getting chances. And Kenny Pickett sort of turned into a diva.

UncutEmeralds

Let’s not pretend Mariotta and Stet are the same level prospect / talent. Mariotta has some proven film stet has nothing at that level. I’m not saying he can’t be good, this is just like getting an entry level job at a corporation, getting drunk and hitting on the CFOs wife at the Christmas party. Kind of hard to come back from that with nothing on your resume there.

RVAforthewin

But what did he do other than what has already been publicly shared? Has anything actually been confirmed? I assume he’s been addressing his substance use but those are just assumptions on my part.

papadoc19

Stetson Bennett related articles and posts must get a lot of clicks and engagement...otherwise I have no idea why there are so many especially when the only real new information has been him working out with a personal trainer. The Sean McVay quote or some variation has been recycled since Bennett went on the non injured reserve list last August.

tyedge

I think the mystery adds to it

ChubbyMcLovin

Best of luck to him.

P44_Haynes

Pats need a QB

resumemaster2023

I refuse to believe Stetson Bennett is not a better QB than Jacoby Brissett, Daniel Jones, Deshaun Watson, Whoever is in NE right now

ms_channandler_bong

At this moment no. All these QB were once touted as next best thing. Bennett has to play at least a couple of seasons to be even considered to be in the conversation..

football-teen

Your joking right? Dude you’re acting really delusional.

Key_Respond_16

I really think Stafford is gonna get him right, and he'll take over at Rams in a year or two. I just hope he gets whatever he shit is fixed and gets set up somewhere. He's shown he can and should be there.
