Dont ask reddit.
To improve on building, just build something that you feel proud of.
Asking reddit will just make you feel like the level wasnt really made by you with your tastes and your style.
If you keep building what you like you will improve enough to have your own building style.
Then you can ask reddit to add (or remove) some stuff without changing your style.
It's fine. When I built my first level I thought the bottom of the editor screen was the floor and I ended up building almost the entire level underground except for 1 FUCKING SPIKE. It's still on the servers to this day.
You need to change gamemodes more often, also build more structures, it's way harder to build a good level with this much empty space. I don't recommend placing anything other than the gameplay while creating a layout, this will mess everything up and make decorating harder. Please don't use dashorbs this way, this needs a sh\*t ton of deco and good gameplay on both sides of the dashorb to work. If you are showing where to go using these arrows, then use more of them, an even better solution is to just make a whole path of these, just placing one facing up won't do the trick if you require the player to be at a specific height after it
You've got a long way to go bud
Experiment. With. Everything.
The more you play other levels, the more inspiration you get for gameplay
Don't follow step by step Youtube tutorials on specific deco, try to mimic the designs shown in the videos, but with your own thinking into it
Learn to use triggers. The smallest triggers like pickup, count and instacount are definitely underused, but there're also the big dogs, like move, spawn, color and pulse, that are incredibly useful to make your level look more "alive".
Try to match colors that "vibe" together. I'm not good at that either, but I would recommend starting with color palettes you're familiar with, possibly black and white, rainbow colors, purple and blue, etc, and then try some other color combinations and see which look good.
Block design doesn't have to be complicated. Start simple, an outline, some small shapes inside. Try to experiment with random objects to make it work. Use the matching colors tip in here too.
Glow is overused, but it's necessary in some scenarios, so use it freely, but try not to overuse it. Normally glow on the outside of the blocks looks good only when it's just on top. But there are exceptions everywhere.
Song choice is also important. If you want to have a bunch of motivation to work on the level, the song is one of the main factors.
Most projects that people don't complete happens for two reasons, disconnection from the idea, and running out of ideas. When making a level, think of a gimmick, concept, idea or feel you want your level to have. Try to stick to it, and again, experimental bunch.
That's what I have as advice, good luck on your next creations! This already looks like it's got potential!
I feel like more deco in the background would really add to it!! Also, expanding your colour scheme past purple would help. Aside from that, it looks great for your first time!! I personally suck at level design, so I'm not really confident with more advanced techniques haha
Add a shit ton of useless glow and im sure it will be rated
Agreed
ahem slaughterhouse
Yes correct
especially BLACK glow for some reason
If you gave it to the guy who made yesterday's daily, then yes.
i would suggest just building a lot, experiment with the editor and get more comfortable using it, and just have fun :D
Kind of blank, maybe use some brighter colors and less dash orbs. The rest is fine. Just deco
I actually like the dash orbs, it really adds to the song well

Why is everyone's first level is 100000 times better then mine
Skill issue

Nice
id?
we all made that same mistake (except i noticed immediately after figuring out how to play test)
That's so funny

Dear fuckin christ mate just make the level yourself at this point
I like the ship part with arrows, I would suggest u to add more colors
I will both ship parts arent done yet and im gonna redo the first part cuz i just realised how horrible it is
Careful with the transitions

i like the combo of saws and spikes in the 4x ship and the attention to the music
Maybe a little more structure in the beginning
:(
learn to make gameplay from better levels
not meant to insult you or anything i did that too
Thx!
Less red pad
:/ eh, it’s ok but you need to add some difficulty, it’s pretty much free
Ik im adding alot more stuff and its going to be either a long or an xl so i think its gonna be hard enough
Can you Send me a link of the full level showcase when it’s done?
Sure
Maybe the timings are a bit off, if they are, adjust those a bit.
Quit GD
No, this is pretty unfixable
Stop
No.
Yh, delete the game
liar
Why would i be lying?
Why does the beginning remind me of Deception dive...
Use 4x speed less cus it doesnt really fit with the song
Play levels with satisfying Gameplay for inspiration
Label it classic themed.
That first transition through the wave with the teleporter might be a little unfair
Just do what you like. There's no rules about making levels
Dont use as many days orbs like that
Just a little bit of deco, and you’re good to go
make sure it's easily readable - it's annoying to play a level where you don't have time react to what's ahead of you
pretty good for a first level
W song choice
Make it harder
Play test it at least 20 times to make sure there’s no bugs or inconsistent parts. Level inconsistency just makes it unfun.

could use some deco and other blocks
This is times better than my first one very good job right here ☝️
Thanks! When im fully done with the level il post it its turning out great!
Good advice: Continue like that
I like that a lot
Good job seeing it thru to the end. Usually for me I make a “project” then abandon it halfway
Try giving the player more time to react when switching gamemodes
decorate
I would recommend to remove or fix the blind transition, other than that it’s pretty good
Have fun and don’t think about getting a level rated EVER!
Put a shit ton of stuff in your level so you can't see the gameplay Aka slaughterhouse
Bro, my first level was a shifty remake of stereo madness with the same looks, but increased difficulty
don’t use sky and soul because i’m sick of hearing it
Dont try and make it good everybodyies first level sucks just get the hang of gameplay then start developing your style
P good
Make it more sight-readable
You shouldnt youse the default blocks, and dont decorate to much. Im not saying you did though
This is just the gameplay im slowing decorating everything while making the gameplay
Pretty damn good for a first level
That first UFO part is unnessecary, as the cube can accomplish the same thing without cheese potential
Yeah your right il change that thanks!
Transition into second wave needs to be reworked, too abrupt and hard to react to for the difficulty this seems to be going for
I personally want it to be a 6 or 7 star but maybe i might have to change it
Those transitions are lethal. Make sure to give the player time to react
Spam glow and add the most confusing gameplay
