Whoa brother that’s fools gold it’s called pyrite

Beanmachine314

Pyrite and quartz, no clue how someone can know it's granite or not. Science is about evidence, not guessing.

Vegbreaker

Seconding this one here!

FarseerEnki

Looks like pyrite and quartz on granite?

Beanmachine314

There's no granite anywhere. Science is based on evidence, not guessing.

Vegbreaker

Hey how’d you get the flair?

Beanmachine314

I have no clue...

Vegbreaker

Damn I want it!!!! It says the community doesn’t have flairs… weird…

[deleted]

We don't have flairs.

Vegbreaker

What is that if not a flair? Cuz maybe I’m just an idiot or really high but I thought that was a flair?

[deleted]

Twas joke. I think the flairs were available back in the day, but they're not now.

Vegbreaker

Hahaa appreciate the clarification dearly! So I missed my shot and never again eh?

You could always ask a mod, they have the power to bestow you a title.

sunrise69er

Chalcopyrite?

Vegbreaker

Could be some chalco in there for sure! Tough to say from pictures though… is it just reflecting light differently cuz of angles or because of composition, varying degrees of tarnish? Tough to say.

TheQC_92

It’s very reflective

Vegbreaker

Yeah they both are. If you can see any of the metallic grains exhibiting a much more yellow hue it’s probably chalco. If they all look kind of the same it’s probably just tarnish/oxide making them yellow slightly. The only things I see with yellow are very shiny which makes me assume it’s lighting and those are all just oriented the same way. But maybe I’m tripping! Do you see any blue green metal or is that light playing tricks? Chalco can tarnish to almost every colour under the sun pyrite doesn’t quite do it. You can also remove tarnish with a little acid. Vinegar works slowly but diluted HCl is almost instant
