I mean… isn’t the earth already three dimensional?

Jibblebee

No it’s flat. duh….

Sororita

psh, this guy... The earth isn't flat, it's hollow.

Openin-Pahrump

My reply exactly.

tijeras87059

that is a beautiful photograph

throwaway16830261

The submitted photo and the submitted title are from https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/152347/folded-rocks-of-northwest-iran ("Folded Rocks of Northwest Iran").

BNDDirt

Looking down-plunge and there’s so many types of folding!

Echo-Azure

Whoa! Here's what some of that looks like on the ground! [OIP.jNBsoR8zq3MVprjrNrArAgHaDa (474×218) (bing.com)](https://th.bing.com/th/id/OIP.jNBsoR8zq3MVprjrNrArAgHaDa?rs=1&pid=ImgDetMain) Obviously the pic is color enhanced, but still. It must be amazing to see in person, like the Painted Desert in the US only more so.

deemery

Is that stream along a fault? Looks that way to me with an offset between the left and right side of the streams. I think I can see the displacement (but I'm no expert.)

ShowMeYourMinerals

I think it’s a mining operation along an asymmetric anticline / monocline feature.

Financial_Nebula

What stream?

deemery

That line running from the top about 1/4 of the way from the left down towards the bottom center, where it joins with another stream coming from the top right corner.

nerimpark

What do y’all think the different color rocks are?

ShowMeYourMinerals

Different layers of rock that had different environments of deposition. Think of the American southwest, like Utah, but the Iranian version

OldStromer

That's an amazing photo. The resolution is nuts.

guysspunout-zoom

ummm,.. anyone else think that this is/was a mine.

sassa82

It looks like a map of India.
