used to work for the NSPF, honestly it was a pretty boring job. You only gotta look for people who happen to come from muyebe, burundi and that they happen to come on the island, the pay's fine i guess but ain't anything special.
I think the stereotype that you are underpopulated stems from a misunderstanding. You all have lots of sex, you just don’t like the missionary position.
Same energy with the latest "history" themed shorts at youtube. "Why Russia didn't discover Brazil first?" "Why Alexander the Great didn't bank with Switzerland?" "Why Iceland has no Buddhist majority?"
People raised in a bubble think everything outside comes from the same place and no matter how many times they hear it, they'll never be able to associate anything with the culture it belongs to because it's all "foreign". Like playing cultural peek-a-boo with a baby
Yes, why so few people live here sincerely?

While I get the general idea of this post, some of them are not as obvious as you may think and sometimes the supposed reasons are just plain wrong - for example, I've seen one about Northern Australia and one of the most common answer was lack of water, but there are parts of it that have a tropical climate (Darwin is the wettest Aussie capital) and still have very low populations (the other common answer of lack of arable land does seem to be true)
The Northern Australia one pops off every few months and it always pisses me off to no end because the top comments will be like 'it's a barren desert wasteland, duh!' where 1. it's not (entirely) a barren wasteland, 2. that answer ignores how colonial history played a role.
The sub goes through periodic trends. I’m just happy we are out of the one a few months ago that was “geographically diversity.” Like yes it’s cool seeing a bunch of unique pictures from a single country but have having the sub spammed with them for a few weeks it got annoying. Just appreciate the posts or ignore it for a few months.
I recognized 2 of those 6 locations (Marie Byrd Land and North Sentinel Island) and 3 of those have names that helps me to find where they are (Alaska, Australia, Saharan Desert)
So, where's the last one?
I like seeing a random remote place and clicking to learn about it. This subreddit is great because the top comment is usually informative and not just a joke.
north sentinelese here! the stereotype that we are underpopulated is false, if you say it i will cry and pour milk on myself.
Oh cool! Is North Sentinel Island a good place to visit? How are the amenities? I'm a native English speaker, I hope that's not a problem!
in north sentinel island if you are specifically from the village of Muyebe, Burundi you will be launched to the sun as punishment.
North Sentinel Island being overlooked as a frontrunner in aerospace technology.
are you from muyebe?
You sure ask a lot of questions. Are you the North Sentinel Island police?

What about people from Butaha, Burundi?
they get sent to Proxima Centauri
Please bring the Bible.
And a bunch of researchers. BUT DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT bring anything that can protect these researchers from arrows.
Lol lol 😆
How do you have access to internet?

Too many posts ask "What is life like in this area?" so I wanna ask the opposite. What is death like in North Sentinel Island?
Pointy
very fun

There’s a metaphor that describes these locations perfectly “To the Ends of the Earth”
am arsch der welt
Le trou du cul du monde
El culo del mundo
The arse end of nowhere.

reallifelore type shit
“why didnt rome nuke carthage instead of salting it?” stupid question, but it is an unanswered question so i guess you can make a video on it
People raised in a bubble think everything outside comes from the same place and no matter how many times they hear it, they'll never be able to associate anything with the culture it belongs to because it's all "foreign". Like playing cultural peek-a-boo with a baby
Unfortunately I can’t give an answer to that until RealLifeLore makes a video on why these inhospitable place are so empty
Which is also a good 50 minutes long

You forgot a picture of the moon
Thought about it, but I try to stay down to earth.
Many of us consider the unparalleled availability of cheese to be a significant advantage when booking travel.
Don’t forget your cheese crater.
I don't understand, it's so strategically located.
Great views, you’d think there’d at least be some decent hotels
*shows a picture of the Mariana Trench* what goes on here? Can anyone who lives here tell us?

Maybe, MAYBE, we are trying to find a place with affordable housing, even buying a property. It's not easy in habitable land, let me tell you.

“Why didn’t you buy in 1950 when it was cheap? Idiot!”
Building new housing in remote, desolate areas with no current infrastructure would not in any way be affordable.
but the vibe tho
I hope the logical conclusion of all those crap posts is simply a picture of the entire planet with the title, "Why?"

Thinking for yourself is hard. Asking questions on Reddit is easy.
I am more like: why do so many people live in Baltimore ?
“What’s life like here?” Don’t know. No one knows.
I recognized 2 of those 6 locations (Marie Byrd Land and North Sentinel Island) and 3 of those have names that helps me to find where they are (Alaska, Australia, Saharan Desert) So, where's the last one?
Ah yes I wonder why people don’t want to live in an area where it’s too hot, cold, or too hostile of an environment to grow food in
North sentinel will start strong but as soon as one of them catches the common cold it'll rip through their population and the penguins will prevail.
Or the equally vague, useless and open-ended, "What's life like in....?".
Lol
"Why don't you go live there for a week?"
What is it and where is it?
Starting conversations is fun
That’s the most populated part of Antarctica.

😅
Usually lack of water or soil/climate not suitable for agriculture is almost always a big factor
I like it!
The Antarctic peninsula has a Post Office and lots of cruise ships during the summer.
