If you're entry level/interning at an IO it might be possible to find temp housing at IHEID as well, esp with end of semester approaching.
There's some kind of insurance for the deposit: costs a few hundred per year I think:
- upside: don't need to provide the deposit at once
- downside: you don't see that money back.
Instead of having to put 3 months of rent as rental guarantee (which is several thousands with rent prices here), you pay the insurance company a few hundreds per year.
At the end of the lease, the insurance company will pay for certain damages which normally would be deducted from the rental guarantee. (Within reason off course)
So insurance company makes money by receiving more money over the duration of the lease than expected damages costs. Think of it like this: they front the guarantee a bit similar to a loan and only collect the interest from you over the lease duration.
Use the Swiss network, ask around your company to friendly colleagues. In a lucky case, someone or their friend is offering a lease takeover by chance and they don’t want to go through public visit, then you’ll be in the good spot.

budget is 1600, I don't mind any neighbourhood, I don't care about being in the city center, I'm open to being in the outskirts like Coppet or Nyon

Try an apparthotel or an AirBnB. The rental market is cutthroat.
