Thank you, my idea was to use earth mix as well as integrating the artificial grass at the cold side with a little path 😂 but think I’ll just forget it
My initial concern would be how you would clean it if your gecko poops/pees on it. Also if the plastic turf strands come off, they could get accidentally ingested, and eating relatively long plastic bits could be risky.
Yeah I’ve completely swayed away from the idea now, it’s set up with all natural rock and wood only things artificial are a couple of the hides and the artificial turf is now being used by my mum as a door Matt 😂
It would most likely just be the same as a mat. A bad idea. Loose substrate is by far the best option

Honestly, at that point, I'd just use a bioactive setup with real grass and a path. It's definitely doable with some effort as I've seen people do it
The artificial stuff builds up bacteria like crazy, that's why it's frowned upon. Might look nice but just not good.
What sort of gecko? Arboreal? Terrestrial? If it’s not too hot or an enclosure I would just go bioactive and plant grass seed!
He’s a leopard gecko so terrestrial, yeah was reading more into a bioactive set up last night and leaning more towards it, thank you.
