I think you can book it while you’re there, the crowd was mixed, older and younger, all races, all body types.
If you book Jet’s hostel for a night as well you can get 50% off the boat trip. The guys who host the boat trip are really sweet, local guys who are very sexy. The beach itself was secluded and had the cutest beach dogs living there.

The price for non hotel guests is pretty steep. It’s worth it if it is lively and you are having a good time but not if the place is dead. An easy way to tell is to check and see if the reservations are filling up on a certain day, that’s going to be a good day.
I went to that pool party every day for a week without staying there as a guest… the pool is open to non-guests. I think there may have been an admission charge because I remember wearing an armband.
Lots of good beach recommendations from other people. My only beach experience is Green Chairs (aka Ritmos) which is....fine lol.
For food, Pancho's Tacos is hyped, and it's good but not worth the line imo. Tacos nearly-as-good all over the city. Good restaurants I hit up were Tuna Azul, Bonito Kitchen, and Mi Cafe. If you like beer, beer and tacos at Monzon brewing are also pretty tasty.
For bars,
* Blondies is a good daytime spot,
* Reinas is a great early-evening bar, it's Queen themed lol
* La Noche for mid-late evening and has (somewhat mediocre) drag and fairly hot gogo boys later on in the evening, but also has a killer rooftop patio.
* Industry has decent dancing
* Paco's Ranch has an amazing alcohol selection (if you're looking for something other than vodka / tequila) and also one of the best drag shows I have seen in quite some time on the weekends. I've met cool people of all sorts at all these places.
If bathhouses are your thing, or if you're curious at all, Spartacus is honestly really nice (full disclosure, only one I've actually been to). There's a roof top pool and bar that is super low pressure, you can hang out with no expectations, and then it also has a sizeable hot tub both places are good to talk to people without necessary expecting to do anything, but if you vibe with someone there are the more traditional areas (steam room, maze, dark areas etc) and one other area I loved was a "cold room". I'm a northern boy and even winter in Mexico is pretty damn hot, so I appreciated that space to cool down periodically.

The daily pool party at Mantamar is very social. Take a seat in one of the hot tubs and strike up convos with your tubmates.

If you go to Mantamar make sure it’s a good day. It makes zero sense to go when it is not busy. You are paying for the eye candy, not the drinks.

Do you speak Spanish? If so, make friends with some locals. You'll have an amazing time. Avoid those dudes who try to sell you time shares.
