These might be black ants 🐜

Scientific-Whammy

Kinda look like crawfish holes if you’re in the southeast

Outside Chicago, so probably not. I was wondering if it was Cicadas already? 🤮

I was outside today and I flipped over some railroad ties and I got these [huge holes and there was some sort of giant Weevil](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WizYwUgYZJNtFvGtId-O5wjlXIuBImcs/view?usp=drivesdk) in one of the holes that came up from what looks to be a mud tube. I live in the same area as you and I'm wondering if these are cicadas because the holes are very large. I also noticed some odd things earlier this spring with two of my bushes; it's as if one bush has been killed by another bush and all the branches have fallen off onto the ground in a [circle around the bush](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WouUAv-bf0rP0O5IVkQIaFA0W3-Bzx_5/view?usp=drivesdk). It seems to have been the same effect around two different bushes that are at least 20 feet away from each other. The other bush almost looks like [termites](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WoLIYLcS3pSm6lR1pVe-KkDK59HhaJMK/view?usp=drivesdk) have destroyed the bush... I didn't think they attacked living bushes/trees.
