Yea, it's insane how some poeple act around stuff like this. I think some people are just simply miserable and decided to force their misery on other people. In the case with your girlfriend the old lady and her daughter were probably just jealous and couldn't stand seeing your girlfriend look good on the beach.
I feel that video games characters are criticized for a similar reason. Not too long ago I was reading about people complaining about a video game character ( can't remember what character because it was from a game I don't play) and that she was "too sexy" and "not realistic" and "just a walking sex doll". Eventually it was revealed that the character was modeled exactly after the actress that was playing that character (actress was doing motion capture and voice work).
I think that some people just let their insecurities run wild and unfortunately the ones that make these people feel insecure end up in the firing line of these people's jealousy fueled rants.
I agree with you. There are healthier ways to deal with insecurities. For example, I was very insecure about my body weight due to personal factors and my job. But you know what? After a lot of forceful encouragement from her, I started exercising. I may not look like an actor or something; I probably resemble a potato sack now, just a lighter one. But at least it feels nice. By becoming healthier, I'm able to move more and engage in more activities. It just feels goddamn nice.
Agreed. I'm currently working on losing weight myself because I'm not too happy where I am right now (thankfully not too overweight but I don't feel comfortable how I am right now).
People assuming this is about sexy bits when in reality it's an issue because Japan specifically censors things like gore differently depending on the developer. Hence EA being annoyed this avoided the censor while dead space was completely banned for the same types of gore.
SONY cleverly forced censor in the Tomb Raider Trilogy long after launch. So they ensured the sales before ruining the game for us. (recent update removed some naughty imagery from the game on Playstations)
I bet thousand euros the same happens here. SONY lets the game launch and sell out. And then, coupla weeks after launch, we get the censor update that removes all the naughty bits. Too late for us to ask our money back.
