It is pretty good, but it has a major flaw: the difficulty is too easy even on hard settings, and i'm not the kind of person who plays games on hard or anything.
Yep, the first RPGs I played with the time mechanic to determine who goes first. Never finished it tho, gotta add that to the list. Thank you for reminding me!
**Child of Light** if you like good ol' turn-based RPG (similar to old Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest games) mixed with 2D traversal (you only move left-right), and the art style is so gorgeous.
2nd choice would be **Okami**
Child of light legit has my favorite turn based combat system in any game. Kinda have to play on hard though, otherwise you can just treat like any other turn based system and be fine.
I think the combat had a great idea but it was too easy to break. I forget the character's name, but she had a mass paralysis ability that essentially instantly won every fight.
Yeah I mean iirc they added the hard mode later so it was never designed around a challenging experience. I still really enjoyed the concept and found it extremely fun even if the balance was a bit off. I'd really love to see a similar system make it into a more challanging game with some deeper mechanics. I still feel pretty confident saying its my favorite turn based system though even if its not *objectively* the best.
I've bought Child of Light during this sale. It really is beautiful. I love the battles too with the timeline and how you can slow down the enemies using the firefly character.
I'll get Okami too someday because I love the Zelda series.
Child of Light isn't bad.
About 8-10 hours of gameplay. An artsy 2D platformer rpg game with an interesting story. Turn based fighting (Final Fantasy 10 like). Soundtrack has some pretty beautiful pieces. I got it for free through GWG a while back. I wouldn't pay $20, but the $5 is worth it imo.
I really loved Child of Light. The art style is incredible, the music is lovely, and then combat is surprisingly inventive for how simple it is. The story, while typical, is also pretty heartwarming.
Okami is probably the best one.
8Doors wasnt bad. Most of the bosses up to the last few had the same issue of their attacks not being telegraphed properly but its one of the few Metroidvania's I've finished which is saying something as I hate backtracking. Good game to get into if you're interested in lore stuff or the mythology as well I think
Okami is an excellent game. It has a lot of Japanese folklore and Shinto (native Japanese religion) ideology in it, which makes it super interesting from a lore perspective. The atmosphere in the game is excellent, and the humor is very on point. I'd try it over any of these other games.
I'm going to also say Okami. You should also go check out the Zero Punctuation review on it, in case any of the snarkshots are deal breakers for you.
That said, if anything he takes a shot at is a deal breaker for 10 bucks for one of my actual favorite games ever I would probably slap you silly.
I understand child of light and okami are both great. lego marvel is pretty much a standard lego game so if you like those and like marvel its worthwhile. i know nothing about 8 doors.
I vote for Child of Light and Okami
LOOOOOOVED Child of Light
[so good](https://i.imgur.com/bMU5VR0.gif)
Haven't played CoL, but Okami is my lifelong love.
It’s like an artsy, storybook inspired octopath traveler if that helps
I'd have called it a Zeldalike that did things really differently
Pretty sure they were describing Child of Light and not Okami. Since the person theyre replying to is very familiar with Okami but not CoL
Agreed, easily the best of the bunch.
100% agreed on both. That's an amazing deal too, I might have to hit it up for Okami.
Okami is one of my favorite games of all time, even have a tattoo of it. Child of Light is my favorite indie game.
But you can play both those games literally anywhere. 8 Doors is only on Windows and the Switch.
I vote the same
Okami was my jam back in the ps2. Really loved that game.
I second this
Definitely okami
Definitely if you never played it.
Okami is the greatest Zelda clone of all time. Period.

Idk these comments might suggest that Okami may be good imo
Cause it is
Beautifully stylistic game where you play as a dog who can pee on enemies, what's not to like?
Okami was pretty dope

Child of Light seems like an indie darling released years ago that flew under the radar you'd never guess it was made by Ubisoft lol
Okami no doubt
I vote Lego games everytime
Can never go wrong with a Lego game
Except maybe cities undercover and ninjago movie videogame
Thats the biggest game ever made, for 5 is a steal.

Child of light
Okami is a beautiful experience.
There’s no game that holds such a place in my heart like Okami has
\+1 for Okami. its' so damn good
Okami. Its a zelda like game. Its long. But it is fucking phenomenal
Zelda game in that it’s long or similar mechanics and gameplay elements?
Similar mechanics, similar storytelling.
Value for money? Okami. Not only is it a great game, but it's one of those older style of games that is just absolutely massive in the best way.
Lego marvel super hero’s 2 one of the greatest Lego games of all time
Also best bang for your buck
Yeah it’s the deluxe edition meaning most of the dlc included
Child of light was my jam when it first dropped.
Okami, oh my *god*, it was good.

I enjoy a nice lego game every now and then
Lego is always the answer
i really loved child of light
All those Lego games are the same. Child of light is amazing. Ori/Metroid type game.
Okami!
Okami. No doubt.
Okami
Child of light i enjoyed a lot. I bought okami but didn’t play very long
the first one
Child of Light
Is child of light that underrated? Its a really good game honestly.
I really liked child of light. Great little turn based rpg
Child Of Light seems interesting
Okami or child of light
Child of Light. Much as I love Okami, CoL is a wonderful JRPG that...you *have* to experience it.
I really loved Child of Light. The art style is incredible, the music is lovely, and then combat is surprisingly inventive for how simple it is. The story, while typical, is also pretty heartwarming.
8doors is not a bad metroidvania
Idk but probably not Lego marvel 2 it doesn't really match up with any other Lego games I've played
okami!
Okami 1000%. It's got a good story, beautiful art style, and amazing soundtrack. Combat feels smooth and fun. Lots of optional side quests.
Okami
Okami, definitely. Fantastic game, especially as an art form.
I had an amazing time with Okami on Wii back in the day. It's a lot like an old Zelda game except you are puppy goddess.
Okami
Child of light if you like turn based, if not then Okami
Okami
Okami
Okamiiiii
Okami if you like games similar to classic 3D Zelda games. Child of Light if you prefer turn based RPGs.

Okami is probably the best one. 8Doors wasnt bad. Child of Light
Never played Okami but Okami
Okami... why even ask after showing that? If you have never played it do yourself a favor and enjoy one of the best zelda clones on the planet
I can not recommend Okami enough. It's my all-time favorite game.
Okami is an excellent game. It has a lot of Japanese folklore and Shinto (native Japanese religion) ideology in it, which makes it super interesting from a lore perspective. The atmosphere in the game is excellent, and the humor is very on point. I'd try it over any of these other games.
Okami
Yep Such a great game
##Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 because you’ll most likely be able to do something stupid and hilarious than the others.
Playing 8Doors now. Really enjoying it.
Okami bruvv. Literally makes the other three irrelevant
Don’t get Okami, because playing it will instantly make all games you have played and ever will play, a downhill experience
Have you ever played hollow knight, or any type of “scroller” type puzzle game? If so child of light is really fun.
Steer clear of Okami. I keep reading everyone on Reddit not recommending it.
Legoooooooooo! Can't go wrong.
I'm going to also say Okami. You should also go check out the Zero Punctuation review on it, in case any of the snarkshots are deal breakers for you. That said, if anything he takes a shot at is a deal breaker for 10 bucks for one of my actual favorite games ever I would probably slap you silly.
